Damn, this is making me wish I'd gotten my ass down to the sports bar to watch the Taker/Angle match. The title matches were so disappointing at the Royal Rumble that I decided I'd just stay home, especially since Taker/Angle was the only match I was interested in on the whole card. If I'd known they were going to have a 30 minute classic like this one seems to be, I would have been there in a heartbeat.

Baylor says hello. If you say that they hardly seem like a real Big XII team this year, I can kinda see it considering they didn't even play a full schedule, but Missouri's worse than OSU as well.

It's not trying to be funny. But, thankfully, your improvement has ceased and I can put your fat ass on ignore again. Whew. And remove my scores. I'm now getting PM's from the fucking losers who care WAY too much that I'm better than them. I sent one PM as a joke because it amused me for five seconds or so. I really don't think it's a big deal that Leena cheated at the TSM arcade.

I hate to nitpick on this kind of thing, but the WWE was so wrong here that it wasn't even funny. The rivalry was over? Umm, hello. Angle joined the Alliance to turn on Austin at Survivor Series and cost him the main event. Then a month later, they wrestled for the WWF Title at Vengeance. I guess the part of the feud where Angle turned heel and Austin turned face was so silly that they just want to pretend it never happened.

1. Head to Head or Rotisserie? Head to head. That was the league last year, and if this is a continuation of that, we should stick with the same basic format. 2. Max on player aquisitions/trades for season? (if yes, how many?) No, unnecessary. 3. Time managers have to protest pending trades? (No or yes and # of days) No, unnecessary 4. Trade deadline? (if yes, use July 30, Aug 6, Aug 13, Aug 20 or Aug 27?) Doesn't really matter, but July 30, sounds fine 5. Time players are on waivers (days or no waivers) 2 days 6. Use "can't cut list"? No, unnecessary 7. Trades reviews by commisioner or league votes? Commissioner's good. That way we have someone to make sure there are no really one-sided trades, since you'll never get enough people bothering to vote to overturn a trade that way. 8. After draft, all unclaimed players free agents or waivers? Waivers 9. Minimum innings pitched per week? (if yes how many) Yes. It ruins the whole integrity of the league if you can win categories by having pitchers that don't pitch. 28 sounds good for the aforementioned reasons. 10. Roster changes weekly or daily? Weekly. The fact is that half the league won't even be checking weekly after the first month or so, and daily roster changes just default the league title to whichever one or two people are bored enough to make sure that they get 20 starts out of their pitchers each week.

Yeah, fuck DocOck. He doesn't look remotely entertaining. Pervs and pedos I have no problem with, but boring fatties don't get free passes.
-
Actually, that just means that Georgia Tech played the worst defense ever. I watched almost the entire game, and they just let him get layup after layup. I don't know if he made a jumper the whole game.

Is it just me or is Curtis the most boring, generic character ever? Chase was way more interesting as the "top field agent when Jack's not around".

Well, I missed a whole week and then didn't get them out by Monday morning this week, but I finally have some new rankings up. These are good through Tuesday's games. Iggy's Rankings for February 15, 2006 (previous ranking in parenthesis) Duke 24-1 (1) Memphis 23-2 (2) Connecticut 22-2 (3) Texas 22-3 (5) Villanova 20-2 (7) Tennessee 18-3 (9) Ohio State 18-3 (15) Gonzaga 21-3 (6) Illinois 20-4 (4) Pittsburgh 19-3 (8) George Washington 20-1 (13) West Virginia 18-6 (14) Georgetown 17-5 (16) Iowa 20-6 (18) Florida 21-3 (10) Michigan State 18-7 (12) NC State 19-5 (19) UCLA 20-5 (17) Michigan 16-6 (11) LSU 16-7 (21) Oklahoma 16-5 (NR) Boston College 20-5 (25) Washington 18-5 (22) Wisconsin 17-7 (20) Bucknell 20-3 (NR)

Well what did you do? What do you mean? About the pants. No no, you don't understand, I literally shit my pants. So what did you do? Don't even remember who did that comedy routine, but it was a good one anyway.

The Rock has about as good of a chance of going to TNA as Vince Young does of going to the Arena Football League. It's just never going to happen.

Yeah, Angle and Austin were in some kind of main event match together 7 PPVs in a row (and my facts are right on this one). That's way more significant than Angle and Edge dicking around in the midcard.
-
Is prison an option? I think I might prefer prison.
-
If you think Vince reads WWE.com, you're kidding yourself. It's just some bored intern. Oh, and Taker and Angle have never had a singles match on PPV. There's no way he's in the top 6.

I actually really like the dynamic between Michael and Jan. It seems like even though he's a total asshole 98% of the time, he always manages to save the day when she's around. Kinda gives him an added dimension beyond "absolute jackass". Oh, and the scene where Jan kisses Michael in the elevator and then looks back at the camera like "oh shit" was classic.

Colbert Report is hands-down funnier than Daily Show, and anyone who says different is full of shit. "The Word" is always terrific, and I love the "better now a congressional district" segments. He runs a little short on material by the end, but when he's on, he's hilarious.

I know Jericho's bladed before. I have a visual in my mind of him bleeding, but I'm not 100% sure where it's from. I'm thinking maybe the HIAC against HHH in 2002. Maybe the NWO match against Austin in 2002 also. He certainly doesn't blade much though. And you might be right on Benoit. I can't think of a single match where he bladed.

This argument made a whole lot more sense five years ago. I remember reading an article about basically this same exact concept right after WM X-7 and I kinda bought it. Austin was the tragic hero who became so vain he had to ally himself with what he hated most. The point is that the stories were good enough that you could get drawn in and find tons of depth. Now? The WWE writes cartoons for children. Faces never go up against heels, the main event feuds are laughable, and the top face is an annoying wigger who tries so hard to be cute and funny that it's painful. It seems like every act they make is designed to get cheap heat for the heels, and to force the crowd to like the faces. The art of telling an interesting story is long gone. If Vince McMahon wrote Othello today, the first three acts would all be about Othello's war exploits and what a great general he was. Then, the fourth act would involve Iago insulting Othello's wife and then running away whenever Othello confronted him. Finally, in the fifth act, Othello would kill a heavily armed Iago with his bare hands. You can make up a story for Cena and HHH that has depth, but the real feud's going to involve HHH telling Cena that he doesn't deserve to be champion because he's a "common street thug" like the fans, while Cena says he's proud to be like the fans, and Vince prays that the fans will cheer for it like sheep.

Nah, they just mentioned Steph in the Rock rivalry. I'd say that Brock, Austin, and Benoit have to have the top three spots in some order. Maybe put Edge at #4, HHH at #5, and then Michaels at #6

Ha, let's see somebody beat 55 on Simon. It was absolutely legit, although I did get a pretty easy pattern. Here it is while I still remember: RGGGYGGGGGYYYRRRRBGGGGRBRGRBGYRYGGYYYRBYGBRBBYRYRYRYRRGG I finally screwed up on something really easy, as I knew that the RY pattern toward the end repeated four times, but I only clicked it in three times before moving on to the green. Again, there were a lot of repeated letters that helped me out, but I don't doubt that I could best it someday if I was really motivated. Once you've typed in a set combination 10 or 15 times, it's almost impossible to screw it up. As long as you make sure you remember the new color before you get it started, the only way to lose is to do something stupid like forget your place in the pattern.

I got a DUI and under the WSU alcohol policy it counted as a third strike with two incidents from freshman year, even though I'm now a junior and the other two incidents were getting caught drinking by an RA in the dorms and an MIP. I wasn't really going anywhere with my major though, so I'm not that worried about it. There was a pretty good chance I would have dropped out at the end of the year anyway. Oh, and to put something on topic, I just got a 42 on Simon and it was completely legit. I still have most of the colors in my head, so I can go through the thought process if anyone cares.

Damn it, I'm pissed now. I spent hours trying to get high scores yesterday, and now I find that Leena's just been cheating on all the big ones. There's no way in hell she could have possibly got six of those ridiculous scores over the course of two or three hours. If she'd gotten them over the course of two or three days, I could have believed it, but this way I know she's cheating. Minus 20 internet respect points. Oh, and before anyone says it, I know I have no life. I got kicked out of school a few weeks ago, and the only job I have is online poker so my time's pretty much as free as I want it to be.

I saw Brokeback and I have to agree with Lazarus for the most part here. It was a decent movie, but it's tremendously overrated and nowhere near Oscar material in my opinion. For a movie that's supposed to focus on the passion of one relationship, the relationship's just not done well at all. As Lazarus said, they go from barely talking to each other to full on anal in about ten seconds. There's no setup at all. For comparison's sake, Nip/Tuck spent way more effort setting up the sex scene between Quentin and the soldier than Brokeback did with Ennis and Jack. Also, the movie's real choppy and doesn't have much of a plot to hold it together. They have their first summer in the mountains together, and then their first reunion four years later, but after that, it's all "Can you come visit next month? Well I'm not sure, but I hope so", and those scenes go on for a good half an hour. You never have any idea how much time has passed (although we eventually find out it's another 15 years) and they don't even bother to age the characters other than giving Gyllenhaal a ratty little mustache. There's no flow at all at this point as it's just seemingly random scenes of the two men either together or apart with no connecting thread whatsoever. And finally, the performances just weren't all that good. Jake Gyllenhaal just comes off as a creepy horndog as he alternates between disinterest, purely sexual interest, and then a couple scenes where he's all of a sudden madly in love. Ledger, meanwhile, does give a good performance, but he seems more like a straight man who likes to experiment with guys occasionally than someone deeply in love with another man. Also, he's really bad in the opening sex scene as there's no indication that he's softening to the idea of homosexuality whatsoever until he starts railing Jack in the ass. All in all, I'd say that Brokeback is a perfect example of what hype and controversy can do for a movie. There's so much discussion about whether audiences will accept a gay love story that people are completely ignoring all the shortcomings in the acting and directing. Honestly, this movie is ** or **1/2 tops, and it will be the death knell for the Academy's credibility if they give it Best Picture.
