  1. Nicole Kidman does not deserve a 15-20 million per picture. It's hard to measure Chris Tucker's box office drawing, since all he's done is the Rush Hour movies. Kidman's a big name who will get people talking about a film, but look at her recent efforts: The Invasion (bombed) Bewitched (big disappointment) Interpreter (mild hit) Stepford Wives (bomb) Cold Mountain (box office hit) Her Oscar bait movies (Fur, Birth, Dogville, Human Stain) all tanked. Her peak was in 1999-2002, when everyone felt sorry for her getting fucked over in the Tom Cruise divorce and she had Moulin Rouge, The Hours and Others.
  2. The Last Legion and 7 Dias (Claudio Caballero decides to gamble $500,000 dollars in a desperate attempt to raise the cash necessary to bring the world's biggest band (U2) to Mexico.) were very close to joining the sub $1,000 PSA club but according to estimates both made about $1200.
  3. I'm not trashing V for Vendetta (though I thought the movie was just alright), I'm trashing the changes the guy made to the movie. They basically completely changed the tone of the movie and added in annoying flash forwards. Plus, they kind of ripped off Pulp Fiction
  4. I might have misinterpreted what you said, RedJed. It seems like you didn't like the original scenes, but liked the stuff that the V for Vendetta guys put in the movie. I think most of the first half of the movie was the original director, and the second half was V for Vendetta. The car chase, , the copout ending, all the flash forward scenes, the first scene, the scene where they watch the news- all point to V for Vendetta.
  5. The Invasion made me angry at Hollywood, and I really disagree with Red Jed's assessment. I really enjoyed the things that the original director put in the picture- great job of building tension and setting the scene and story. Then the V for Vendetta idiots took over and the film became just another generic summer movie. Really pissed me off, and I would love to see the original cut, since it seems like that would be a great movie rather then the disjointed mess it became. And the twist ending was awful and obvious, as was the stupid ending scene with Jeffrey Wright. Nicole Kidman looked terrible as usual. Look at her collagen lips and her botoxed face and those tight shirts! Plus, the bra and panties scene is nothing, when she's naked in about half of her movies. If Warner Bros didn't get the summer tentpole flick they wanted, they should've released it in a February or October and see if they could get an audience, rather then hacking the film to shreds. I'm glad it bombed, they deserved it. The movie began filming before Craig was even cast as Bond. Think about that
  6. I loved the Walk Hard trailer. All of the spoofs of Walk the Line killed me, and the cameos look hilarious. And come on- Tim Meadows!
  7. Sony raced into first place with its new teen sex comedy Superbad which powered its way to an opening day gross of $12M, according to estimates. The tally was even higher than producer Judd Apatow's last film Knocked Up (his directorial effort) which opened to $9.9M on its way to a $30.7M debut weekend. Since teen movies typically see more of their weekend business on Friday, Superbad might find its way to a similar $29-32M. -boxofficeguru. Damn
  8. No real controversy. It's just Foley detailing everything that went on during the Foley/Edge v. Dreamer/Funk feud and his frustrations with Vince and the writing team about how they mishandled it. He said it was passable, not that he enjoyed it.
  9. It's at 399 Church Street
  10. Hmmm, it might be that- I don't know the exact name just that they had doner sandwiches that were phenomenal and it was right next door to Big Slice. I lived down the street from Golden Griddle on Carlton. I never went in b/c it had this odd smell. Even though it's a gay hangout, Daybreak (formerly Eggstacy) is the place to go for breakfast. Big portions and great food
  11. Michael Setzer's is a great steakhouse, one of my favourites. There's a Turkish place by Big Slice on Yonge that I swear by, would go there a few times a week. Forget the name though.
  12. No one is two words, not one. Noone is just noon, but with an 'e'. Tim Hudson is 2-3 with an RBI. For a pitcher, he's a really good hitter.
  13. wrestlingobserver said 5 minutes. D-Lo was insanely over at the Garden- it was good to see him back
  14. 2006 movies to open with less then $1,000 PSA- Live Freaky! Die Freaky! (a cartoon) Suits on the Loose (Christian family movie) Zyzzx Road Doing time for Patsy Cline El Seuno de Regresso (foreign movie) Beyond Honor The Big Question (a documentary featuring Mel Gibson. That can't be good) The Surfer King (Alan Thicke is in this movie) Herbie Hancock: Possibilities (everyone knows it's Herbie Hancock) Standing Still (this movie actually has a cool cast: Amy Adams, Colin Hanks, Ethan Embry) In Her Line of Fire (I do remember seeing ads for this in the paper. It's a lesbian action movie) Killer Diller One Last Thing (Ethan Hawke is in this one) The Fall of Fujimori (a documentary) Coastlines (A crime drama with the villain of Live Free or Die Hard and Josh Lucas) Psychopathia Sexualis (these movies have amazing titles) The Long Weekend (poor Chris Klein) Dog Lover's Symphony (this movie was released by Dog Lover's Symphony productions) Uncut (foreign flick) Rank (documentary) The Color of Olives (documentary) Jailbait Hair High (a cartoon) The Ordeal (foreign flick) The Trouble with Men and Woman Idiocracy (poor Mike Judge) Rolling Family (foreign) Feast (this was the Project Greenlight winner. Although to be fair, it only ran at midnight) The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (horror movie) Love's Abiding Joy Zindagi Rocks (foreign) So Goes the Nation (documentary) Issues (Todd Bridges is in this!) Masai: The Rain Warriors (foreign) Color of the Cross Soap (foreign) A New Day in Old Sana'a The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes (foreign) Opal Dream Christmas at Maxwell's (Christian movie) Dreamland (John Corbett, Gina Gershon and Justin Long!) Ever Again (a doc narrated by Kevin Costner) The Empire in Africa (doc) Words of my Perfect Teacher (doc) The tiger and the snow (Roberto Benigni really fell off the face of the earth) Unconscious (foreign) I've probably heard of about 5-6 of those movies, and have not seen any. I believe the lesbo action flick had the lowest PSA.
  15. DOA was fine as a so bad it's good movie until they stopped fighting and teamed up to take Eric Roberts. I mean, no one cares about Eric Roberts, they just want to see Joy from My Name Is Earl fight Miho from Sin City. They never even finished the tournament, or showed how Kasumi made the semis!
  16. The movies that I was somewhat familiar with: Funny Money Fired The Last Sin Eater The Abandoned Full Of It Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon Slow Burn The Tripper Civic Duty The Hip Hop Project Casting About Hollywood Dreams Rise: Blood Hunter Pierrepoint- The Last Hangman DOA: Dead or Alive Macbeth The Trials of Darryl Hunt and Skinwalkwers. Since I have nothing to do today, I'll try to compile a list of 2006's PSA of Shame
  17. You should tell us where you got information from Mecca.
  18. He's trying to change pro wrestling for the better. Are you against this?
  19. Because in Hollywood, no movie is released without a similiar movie being released at the same time.... We have Zzyx which was released straight to video in May. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420346/ It looks like Zzyx was made before Zzyx Road
  20. Welcome to every tag match ever
  21. It was Armando. I saw him come out
  22. It was produced by Ghost House Pictures (which specialises in horror movies) and Destination Films (which does low budget movies) It looks like one of those movies that was filmed two years ago, everyone realised it sucked, and Sony Pictures probably has some deal with Ghost House and Destination where they had to distribute it.
  23. Zzyx Road is the lowest grossing movie of all time, grossing $30. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20011268,00.html There's an article about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._box_office_bombs There's a list of massive bombs, just going by their US gross.
  24. I always wondered why someone would go to a show and do copious PBP notes instead of enjoying the show.
  25. Was the movie really lowbudget and just happened to somehow draw some names or what? I can't believe instead of seeing Knocked Up, you had to see that
