  1. You shut the fuck up- I never said it was the gospel truth did I? I said (wait for it) WHAT I WOULD'VE SAID.
  2. Raise Your Voice- whatever. No one saw that movie, I did and loved it but there's no use in arguing it. Mean Girls got criticial acclaim (87% at RT) and commercial appeal (28.4% was made in opening weekend) so I don't get the hate there. It's probably one of the best teen comedies ever made and launched Lindsay Lohan into superstardom, launched Rachel McAdams career and tried to resurrect Tim Meadows' career. It's probably the funniest movie of 2004. Harry Potter got an 89% at RT making it one of the best reviewed movies of the year. I explained my reasonings for liking it in my top 10 thing- no film made me more emotionally involved. I'm sorry if you didn't like it but it managed to take all the best elements of Chamber of Secrets and just make it that much better. The Graduate is worlds better, it really isn't even funny. The Graduate didn't have the awful final 15 minutes that Garden State has. Graduate was also a more important movie. Had Garden St. recieved any serious nomnations, I would've hung my head in shame. Ray wasn't that good so it being nominated is bullshit. Aviator was a very good movie- I had it at #11 for the year. Had three amazing nominatable performances (Cate, Alec, Alan Alda) and a fine performance from Leo. Started out a bit slow but the stuff with Katherine Hepburn and his fights were the US Senate were great stuff. I agree- none of the nominated pictures were better then Eternal.
  3. I liked it a lot but found it to be a bit too manipulative. Apparently Depp, Winslet and Marc Forster worked really hard to make sure it wasn't a CRY NOW picture like Spanglish was. It's a nice little movie and Depp was great
  4. Garden State didn't deserve to be nominated since the last 15 minutes sucked ass. It also is so not on the level of the Graduate- it's really not even fair comparing the two. Did you even see Million Dollar Baby? Easily the best film that was nominated for Best Picture. (Still need to see Sidways)
  5. Question her being nominated??? She took a role that no one thought she could do and literally transformed herself into Bridget. She gave the character emotional warmth and like the book, was able to make her very relatable. It's the movie that made Renee Zelwegger my favourite actress.
  6. Yes because no one is watching that show CSI
  7. Renee Zelwegger definitetly should've won for Bridget Jones's Diary. One of my favourite films and performances ever
  8. He did win earlier in his career though. He won for Glory in 89
  9. Had Andy Kaufman been as beloved as Ray Charles- Carrey would've gotten a nod in 1999. I'm not upset about Foxx getting a nod for Ray- probably the best performance of the year. But him getting a nod for Collateral is just retarded. Tim Meadows was screwed
  10. I would've said: Hey Bill- you're a whiny bitch who lost to the better man. Get over it and stop acting like a prick.
  11. Bill's little depressed act kinda pissed me off. He didn't deserve to win- so why throw a little fit? I like Jude Law a lot. I loved him in Cold Mountain and he saved Alfie from being a complete and utter disaster.
  12. Bill Murray didn't deserve to win last year- that's the thing. Sean Penn and Jude Law both blew him away. Chris Rock is the host- maybe he'll say something about Jim getting snubbed...again
  13. Well considering how good Ace Ventura 2 was... Carrey has the comedy Fun with Dick and Jane coming out in the summer and then it's his revival of the 6 Million Dollar Man. He's getting a lifetime achievement award or an Oscar for some weepy tearjerker when he's 60-70
  14. I'm wickedly biased but Harry Potter deserves it- if only for the Dementors. And no 'Someone's Watching Over Me' for best song? Michael Gondry, Alfonso Cuaron and Mike Nichols, hell almost anyone, would've been a better pick for Best Director then Taylor Hackford
  15. Who Church or Giamatti? Church. Giamatti wasn't in Spanglish
  16. Thomas Haden Church seems more upset that Paul didn't get nominated then that he got nominated. It's sad he was snubbed for his amazing one scene in Spanglish
  17. Regina King was alright- I didn't get any of the Oscar buzz around here either. The scenes where they flashed back to Ray's childhood were terrible- I hated them. They came off as so hokey. I thought Ray was pretty good- but because of the music and Jamie Foxx. Certainly doesn't deserve a Best Picture nod
  18. I think Jim knows he's never getting a nomination even though I could see him getting an apology nomination later in his career. The best acting category was really strong this year- it was the actress one that was weak. Alan Alda getting a nomination was a well deserve surprise- he MADE the Aviator. And CBright- everyone knew Moore wasn't getting a nod
  19. Jamie Foxx shouldn't have gotten a nod for Collateral since he wasn't the supporting actor. He's in the film more then Cruise- he's the lead actor. Also Cruise was the better actor in the movie anyway
  20. Because the movie wasn't that good. It was way too long and a lot of the non-music scenes were very boring. After the 2 hr mark I began wondering if this was a 5 hour movie. Jamie Foxx was amazing and he totally deserves to win but one great performance does not make a great movie and certainly not one of the best films of the year. I thought Clint was great in Million Dollar Baby- I would've put Carrey ahead of DiCaprio
  21. You missed me swearing up a blue streak when I saw Don Cheadle's face on TV and realised Carrey got snubbed AGAIN. Closer was another snub for best adapted screenplay. Oh and Ray getting nods for Best Picture and Best Director is complete and utter bullshit
  22. What happened to CBright's guarantee?
  23. Sorry Jim- maybe the NEXT time you do an amazing performance the Academy won't ignore you. Assholes
