  1. I tried Loss but I don't really remember that much. I just remember Eddy having to lead JBL during some of the sequences and there were a lot of slow spots that killed it. I also think Eddy's sick bladejob was completely unecessary and instead of me focusing on the match I just thought it was disgusting.
  2. Don King Sues ESPN for $2.5 Billion By ROB GLOSTER, AP Sports Writer NEW YORK - Boxing promoter Don King filed a defamation suit Wednesday claiming he was portrayed in a false light in an ESPN "SportsCentury" segment aired last May, and his attorney said King is entitled to damages of more than $2.5 billion. The lawsuit says the program accused King of being "a snake oil salesman, a shameless huckster and worse," claimed the flamboyant promoter underpaid Muhammad Ali by $1.2 million and claimed King — convicted in a 1967 beating death and acquitted in another killing in 1954 — "killed not once, but twice." Most of the material in the program had been printed or broadcast earlier about King, who has spent much of his career in court, but he said he had just had enough. "I just felt that this was the straw that broke the camel's back and I can't take it anymore, and I'm going to fight back," King said at a news conference. "I seek justice." King, wearing a garish American flag tie and two flag lapel pins, then quietly stepped back and let lawyer Willie Gary answer questions. Gary called the SportsCentury segment "a story designed to orchestrate and create an impression that is not there," and said the network had refused to retract parts of the program that offended King. The suit, filed in state court in Broward County, Fla., names ESPN and its parent company, Walt Disney Co., among the defendants. Also named are Disney-owned ABC Cable Networks, which actually controls ESPN, and Advocate Communications, a Florida-based cable and satellite system. "We have not seen a copy of the lawsuit, so we are not in a position to comment on it," said Mike Soltys, ESPN's vice president of communications. "However, SportsCentury is a Peabody- and Emmy-award winning series of more than 250 biographies that is widely respected for its journalistic quality and integrity." The suit also says SportsCentury accused King of threatening to break the legs of heavyweight Larry Holmes and of cheating boxer Meldrick Taylor out of $1 million from a fight and then threatening to have Taylor killed. "It was slanted to show Don in the worst way. It was one-sided from day one," Gary said. "Don is a strong man, but he has been hurt by this." King has represented fighters from Ali to Mike Tyson, and has been sued by several of them — including a $100 million lawsuit filed against him by Tyson. King paid $7.5 million to former middleweight champion Terry Norris in late 2003 to settle a suit. King sued former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis for libel. King also has beaten federal charges, including tax evasion and fraud. He served nearly four years in prison for the 1967 beating death of a man who owed him money. In 1954, he killed a man who was robbing a numbers house he operated in Cleveland, but it was ruled self-defense.
  3. You take things way too seriously. Part of the fun of the thread was just reading all the crazy stories and trying to figure out which were fun and which were not. Even though I think towards the end it was too much of people trying to be funny but when that thread was on- it was ON. And I think someone like Shirley Doe said that most of the wrestlers thought the stories were true. I wouldn't be suprised if the SCS did triple team Becky though
  4. I saw the match and I thought it was pretty good but Bradshaw looked completely gassed at several points and I hated the DQ ending. And Loss- if a great match ends in a bullshit DQ it will take my away enjoyment of it- no matter how good the match. I think the crowd was on fire during the match because of Eddy's big following in the Latino community and the show being in LA. I gave the match about ***1/2
  5. The George Clooney-Bill O'Reilly pissing contest is funny
  6. I LOVED Closer- that movie made me depressed and was upsetting and I loved every minute of it. It's a shame no one is seeing it. I still need to see Sideways and Rwanda. I saw Baby. Haven't seen Fockers either
  7. a) It's the WCW Hardcore Title. No one cares. b) Bumping up threads is really gay
  8. I understand- the Oscars like Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp and it was a nice feel good story. I thought Johnny Depp was great and I really enjoyed Dustin Hoffman
  9. I'm surprised Finding Neverland isn't doing that well. It's a very good movie and is a nice feel good movie that appeals to everyone. I think it will pick back up once the Oscar race kicks into overdrive. I saw Million Dollar Baby the weekend it came out- awesomeness
  10. The charges were thrown out and the whole case was bullshit Have you seen RF Video's Undercover with New Jack, where he talks about the incident? Have you seen the actual FOOTAGE of the incident? I have, and Jack had no right to do what he did. He admits to going absolutely crazy on this guy and stabbing him silly, and the only defense he gives is some bullshit like "the police had this looking like I attacked this guy in a parking lot. What happens in the ring stays in the ring." Jack was damn sure in the wrong with ttat. And Michael Jordan, the stabbing that deep WAS out of script. There was never a set finish; they were going to brawl around the gym and have a blowoff match the next month. The stabbing the guy in the neck, back, arm, leg, etc. was all done on the spur of the moment, none pre-planned. I might be wrong then but everything I read sounded like the case was bullshit. And no I haven't seen anything from RF since I don't feel like supporting a pedophile
  11. I don't understand why nikjohns and JHawk both recap RAW- isn't one enough?
  12. Especially someone who's been through Drazen's death, Whoopity Damn Doo, Butch Beard, John Calipari, that year where they traded half the team, trading for Marbury only to realise he wasn't the second coming, that year where everyone was injured, Byron Scott, blowing Game 6 against Detroit, dealing K-Mart and now this
  13. I pay the international fee so I can't really say. I think it's between 3,000-5,000
  14. The Nets traded my favourite player, trade for the player I hate the most, trade Aaron Williams, Planinic gets hurt and now R-Jeff gets hurt. At least they got rid of Kidney Boy or I'd be going insane
  15. Yea- I'm going to Ryerson.
  16. The charges were thrown out and the whole case was bullshit
  17. Well that would explain why he's been playing like shit lately but this really really sucks
  18. I'm a Republican living in Toronto taking a journalism programme. Everyone hates me
  19. Since Hennig (and possibly Crash) were the only one dead ones on that flight- I don't think that constitutes half
  20. I'm surprised no one has figured out that Frank Nabbit is tank abbot- the guy who made comments about mole's mom.
  21. I thought the kid died of a heart attack because he was a fat fuck
  22. Well Jericho has had a lot of interaction for Christian. I thought it was a nice little match- nothing to get too worked up about
  23. I'm happy I get to see the match live next week. I also get to see Kane v. Snitsky!~
  24. You do realise everyone in this thread has refuted that already
