The Rock and Austin singing "Margaritaville" was on the RAW previous to the 2001 Survivor Series, not WMX-7. Although it seems to get no love around these parts it remains a favorite of mine for some reason. I'd like to see if you deem those Rock and Hurricane confrontations worthy of listing. Some of the funniest ever for my money.

Which one? There are two covers for CW#7, and they're both awesome.

I don't know that the movie led to Karen Sisco. It seems to me that Danny Devito was trying to get a successful Elmore Leonard project onto television more than anything. Anyways, Carla Gugino was about 100x hotter as Sisco, it was a nice touch with Keaton reprising his Ray Nicolet role, and one of three good Leonard adaptations out there. Fair enough. I wasn't aware of that. And Carla Gugino is hot no matter where she shows up.

I don't think there's any mention on WWEShop.com or Amazon.com that this will also be released a la WM Anthology with 5-year volumes in the US. Hopefully this is not a UK exclusive deal with Silvervision and we also get the sets 'cause I already have all Rumble DVDs from 2000 on. As for that person that hoped previously released Rumble dvds will retain their extras for these box set I highly doubt it. None of the Mania Anthology discs had any. Rockers vs Orient Express finally on DVD!! Excellent!!

Great movie. It even spawned a TV series called Karen Sisco based on the female character played by Lopez. Edited for spelling.

Maybe London & Kendrick will retain and they'll make a TLC match for Mania instead, with TWGTT added instead of Regal & Taylor.

I found out yesterday after I caught a newsflash on E! while switching channels. Too bad, she was really was of my favorites. I had the hots for her even when she was a bit chubby. Well, I'll always have that EXPOSED dvd she did a while ago. RIP Anna Nicole.

It's likely they're just re-releasing this particular Mania being that it is the 20th Anniversary of them being in Detroit. I seem to remember that was a particular theme they wanted to exploit for WM23. Still, it looks like another winner from WWE's dvd department. EDIT: That particular statement has piqued my interest big time. Wonder what matches they could possibly include?

It should be in my hands by tomorrow at the latest.

Word. Van Halen I is one of the greatest Rock albums EEEEEEEVER. Hagar did some great music with Van Halen, but it cannot match the golden days with Diamond Dave.

Greatest WWF Matches of the 90's Tourney

Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart, 3/23/97, WrestleMania 13, "I Quit" match OR Rocky Maivia vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley, 8/30/98, SummerSlam, Ladder match for IC Title No brainer for me here. I have no doubt that the WM will be the eventual winner, even though it's not my pick. Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith, 12/17/95, In Your House #5, WWF Title OR Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair, 4/5/92, WrestleMania VIII, WWF Title Easy choice here. Ten Man Tag, Canadian Stampede, 7/6/97 OR Undertaker vs. Mankind, 6/28/98, King of the Ring, Hell in a Cell This one was tough. The first has off-the-wall heat and non-stop action, and the second one is the stuff of legend due to it's major bumps and made Foley an icon. I'll go with HIAC. Royal Rumble, 1/19/92, Royal Rumble, Winner gets WWF Title OR Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper, 4/5/92, WrestleMania VIII, IC Title You've got to be kidding me. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart, 3/20/94, WrestleMania X OR Steve Austin/Shawn Michaels vs. Owen Hart/Davey Boy Smith, 5/26/97, Monday Night RAW, Tag Team Titles The RAW match is my personal favorite TV match of the 90s, but let's be fair. Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon, 8/27/95, SummerSlam, Ladder match for IC Title OR Owen Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith, 3/1/97, Monday Night RAW, European Title Tournament Final Another easy choice. Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior, 3/24/91, WrestleMania VII, Retirement match OR The Rock vs. Mankind, 1/24/99, Royal Rumble, "I Quit" match for WWF Title The WM match was probably the peak of my mark days, it deserves a high ranking. Bret Hart vs. Curt Hennig, 6/13/93, King of the Ring, KOTR Tournament Semifinals OR Bret & Owen Hart vs. Steiner Brothers, 1/11/94, Wrestlefest 1994 The best Hart vs Hennig match versus the best Steiners outing in the WWF. Somewhat tough, but I'll go with the tag match. Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind, 6/22/96, Mind Games, WWF Title OR Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels, 11/25/92, Survivor Series, WWF Title Duh. Steve Austin vs. Dude Love, 5/31/98, Over the Edge, No CO/No DQ for WWF Title OR Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart, 3/31/96, WrestleMania XII, Iron Man match for WWF Title Double Duh. Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith, 8/29/92, SummerSlam, IC Title OR Bret Hart vs. Undertaker vs. Steve Austin vs. Vader, 2/16/97, Final Four, WWF Title Another one that had me marking like crazy back in my naive days. Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon, 3/20/94, WrestleMania X, Ladder Match for IC Title OR Diesel vs. Bret Hart, 11/20/95, Survivor Series, NO CO/No DQ for WWF Title No question this ladder match is the blueprint of all other crazy stunt-laden matches that came after. It has to be pretty close to the top. Essential. Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels, 10/5/97, Badd Blood, Hell in a Cell OR The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge/Christian, 10/17/99, No Mercy, Ladder Match This HIAC is my all-time favorite match. I was a different person after watching it. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart, 8/29/94, SummerSlam, Cage Match for WWF Title OR Bret Hart vs. Curt Hennig, 8/26/91, SummerSlam, IC Title My favorite WWF cage match. I'm not even sure why this IC Title match is ranked so highly. Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin, 11/17/96, Survivor Series OR Diesel/Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon/1-2-3 Kid, 10/30/94, Action Zone, WWF Tag Titles Another difficult choice without question, but Bret and Austin ruled here. Shawn Michaels vs. Jeff Jarrett, 7/23/95, In Your House #2, IC Title OR Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel, 4/28/96, Good Friends/Better Enemies, No CO/No DQ for WWF Title The best Diesel match ever versus the best Jarrett match ever. I'll go with the Diesel match 'cause it cemented HBK's status as Champ and gave him more credibility. -
The sports world has changed. McEnroe's antics back then seemed so outlandish, but when you watch them now, it seems normal. Many players are just as bad now as McEnroe was. There's no way to stand out (unless you have legit model looks like Kournikova). That personality stuff is bullshit, anyway. What is Federer supposed to do on court? If you watched his last few rounds in Melbourne and weren't captivated with his play... then tennis just isn't for you. You've GOT to be kidding me!! Famous McEnroe quote aside, you're right about Federer in stating that anyone who watched his mastery the last few rounds in Australia and isn't impressed, well, then they can just find some other sport to watch. His performance was just jaw-drowping amazing sometimes. Like I said in another thread, I'm just thankful I get to watch him in his prime now, instead of hearing or reading about it like other greats I didn't get to watch. Last time this happened it was the legendary rivalry between Sampras and Agassi, and even then I'd argue that Agassi received the Lion's share of the spotlight, even when Sampras was dominating like nobody's business. Pete Sampras I'd even say was somewhat neglected by the american press.

WWE is releasing a special Deluxe Edition of WrestleMania III on DVD. Here's the preview, taken from 411mania.com: Sounds very interesting, following the example of all those movies than come out first as regular editions and then extra-packed ones.

Rating was a 1.7. I guess McMahon = ratings.

WON News + Notes, 29th January Issue

So would I. -
Beats me, but if that wasn't a great comeback story then I don't know what is. She could be interesting in today's women's circuit.
-
When Martina HIngis returned it marked a breath of fresh air to women's tennis, which is mostly dominated by power players who lack the finnesse and elegance that players such as Hingis provide. Steffi Graf was the last women I could get behind really, along with Gabriela Sabatini, mostly because she was pretty decent for a Latin player and she was gorgeous as well.

I didn't like Limp Bizkit's song for Mania X-7. I actually liked that "I Dare You" song by Shinedown from last year's show (it was one of two themes, along with "Big Time" for Mania 22), but of course for my money nothing can touch Drowning Pool's "Step Up."

From PWInsider:

That is a great WM card. I'm totally behind those World Title matches and the 4 team TLC I've been vouching for since December. The only question I have is if the fans would have anything left after having both a TLC and a MITB before any of the World Title matches. Even if I guess it gives 6 other guys something important to do at Mania I think that could be a bit of overkill with those two huge gimmick matches, so I'd regretfully scrap the MITB, only because I want TLC so badly.

Sounds like a pretty good show. I particularly like that final confrontation. No Way Out should be great!

Yes, I realize some are already calling Federer the greatest ever, me included. It's just that I feel he could, and should, shatter all existing records so that there can be absolutely no doubt. Of course, he might never reach the success level and dominance Bjorn Borg had on Roland Garros, but I think he could be the first player since Andre (my all-time favorite) to win all four majors (maybe not in a single year, but still) and there is no doubt in my mind he could reach Pete Sampras' mark on Wimbledon. We should all feel lucky and thankful that we managed to watch and admire a player of Federer's caliber in our lifetime and not have to read or have someone tell us about him like Roy Emerson or Borg himself to a degree. Ok, since Leena only starts this kind of threads for Grand Slam championships I guess this is until Roland Garros next.
