For me, "Approximate" and "Dupree's Paradise" wear out their welcome significantly short of their total running time, and since those two comprise a little over half the CD, I would pretty much steer clear of the CD as a whole if it wasn't for "Whipping Floss" (the lone high point of the CD). Not to mention that he criminally cut short "Big Swifty" at the end.
The problem I thinik most people had with Vol 3 was that most of the songs were from the '84 tour, which a lot of Zappa fans hate because of Alan Zavod and his synth get-up. On the other hand, the '84 tour was his strongest vocally, with Ike Willis, Ray White and Bobby Martin singing some killer harmonies
