And Denver scores on Minnesota, 28-20 Dammit, I hate it when the Vikings try to win Dennis Green style (build up huge lead early then barely hold on for the win), it was bad enough against the Packers as it was.

Highlights show Browns are coming back on San Diego Keep the 0-16 dream alive!
  5. I first got into the Blackhawks in the early 90's, first just because I liked the uniforms (hey, I was young), but because they were a damn good team with good players also (Hasek, Belfour, Roenick, Goulet) But yes, the way they have gone downhill since Wirtz' takeover is horrible Losing the old Chicago Stadium didn't help either

Vikings fan with the Big Gold Belt! <marks>
  7. The lesbian one? (Yes I actually found that thread)
  8. Something I thought of If you're an drug-abuser for a long time (though I don't know how long he used), and you quit and turn your life around, aren't the long term effects from the drug use still potentially life-shortening (expediting organ failure, etc.)?
  9. Inspired by last week's two baseball series, I want to hear your painful sports memories... those times when your sports loyalty just left you feeling lower than shit Here's mine NFL -Minnesota steamrolls through '98 season only to lose NFC title game to surprising Falcons team because Anderson finally shanked a kick and Dennis Green mismanaged the clock horribly MLB -Last week. Too obvious -Game 6 '86. Though I was young and barely remember, the replays and lore burn it into my brain -Reds pull off amazing comeback in mid-late '99, only to get blown out by NY in the 1-game playoff College Football -Nebraska's kick-up TD against Missouri in '97. Whether it was legit is another issue, but it made their season, and prevented the Wolverines from getting an undisputed championship. -Kansas State finally beats Nebraska in '98, and looks to be heading to the first BCS championship game, only to lose to A&M in the Big 12 title game (on a still questionable TD) and gets shafted by BCS all the way down to the Holiday Bowl College Basketball -Chris Webber's no-time-outs-left time-out call ...so come on, share your pain

That MIGHT be the play of the year. Well, the season (and even the week), is yet young, so I wanted to avoid hyperbole That's why I said "MIGHT". And that's why I said... umm.... Go Vikings!
  11. Well... care about them as much as a fan can care about a celeb (unless you actually did know them personally)

  13. Isn't there already a OAO Wrestling Dead Pool thread floating around somewhere?
  14. Reading the list of deceased wrestlers from this year, combined with the huge number of celeb deaths, and it's been a banner year for the reaper Wonder if something pissed him/her/it off

Total f'king ownage That's your NFL play of the week right there
  16. A lot of the times, I really hate them too, usually because they're happening to teams I don't like This one though really got me... mostly just because I hated those Rams
  17. First thing you've said that I'll agree with <g>
  18. Well, first, you can't compare total game counts as the NFL plays far fewer games in their postseason And while I will admit this years' baseball playoffs have been the most exciting I've ever seen overall (unmentionable NY team's success aside), this is more an exception than the rule We've already discussed how blah the last several baseball postseasons have been, so one year of good baseball playoffs out of the last seven compared with every NFL season having something good in the playoffs during same time period is just not comparable
  19. Oh, really? '98 -Arizona gets first playoff win in years by beating the same Dallas team that owned them in the regular season -Vikings and Falcons fight closeknit NFC title game where everyone expected the Vikings to run over Atlanta. Atlanta wins with FG in OT (in one of my worst sports memories ever) '99 -Titans last-second kickoff TD against the Bills -The Longest Yard SuperBowl '00 -New Orleans holds off amazing comeback attempt by the Rams to win first playoff game ever '01 -The classic snow game to close out Foxboro stadium -The Patriots becoming the feel good story of the year by beating the seemingly invincible Rams, and doing it at the Superdome (0-2 before) no less '02 -Amazing comeback wins by Pittsburgh and San Fransisco to win their first round games -Atlanta becoming the first team to ever beat the Packers at Lambeau (a personal high for me) So if you think the playoffs have sucked since '98, you either have exceptionally high standards, or you're just never satisfied
  20. Ever since the parity era began in the NFL (around '98-'99 seasons) the NFL's popularity has surged up. I believe the fans love a sport where everyone has a chance. Compare that with baseball's popularity in the last couple years. The default presumption is "Yankees and everyone else," and that is not healthy for a sport as a whole
  21. The classic parity vs. non-parity argument I fall on the parity side. It's much easier on the sports heart knowing your team has a potential shot every year, rather than watching the same damn team win it again and again. Example: My football team (Minnesota) was riding high in the NFC in the late 90's, then fell off the map for a couple seasons, but now appear to be right back into things The other huge problem with dynasties is that I don't want to potentially wait years for a team I really hate to finally lose... when the Yankees shit started, I was a senior in high school... now HS is a fairly distant memory and the goddamn Yankees are still on top. Too long... too f'king long.
  22. And to think, it was only a couple of months ago we saw him on RAW no-selling RVD and Kane RIP

Only one of three or four times I'll get Vikings games down here in Kansas Culpepper TD and Russell INT on Beuerlein and things are looking good so far
  24. While it would be expensive, to be sure, I don't think it'd be a good idea anyway, as not every episode was a great gem, either due to extremely bad movie, not-very-good jokes, or a combination thereof Though I would very much mark out for complete season 3 (the strongest Joel season IMO) and the complete first Sci-Fi season (Mike's strongest IMO) Edit: Though it'd be very unlikely to happen, I'd like to see a single DVD release of Phase IV, which was the only good MST episode from when it was a local Minneapolis show
  25. Oh, well then... sweet Now about that RaS set...
