  1. In the Yahoo league as Serenity.
  2. But Hernandez only goes through 2006. I can't picture any scenario where Cole Hamels is in the majors by 2007, especially with the injuries costing him this whole year basically.
  3. What is wrong with Livan for three years at $20 mil (?). He is the workhorse they desperately need at this point.
  4. <------------- must have missed that episode of Firefly So which episode was that in, The Message or Shindig?
  5. Take the 3.5 million and try to set up a package for Livan Hernandez or use the money and trade for Eddie Guardado and move Madson to the rotation.
  6. All of the trade talk is irrelevant, however, as we know all Wade is going to do is trade a marginal minor leaguer for Mike Williams again.
  7. But if you do a Lowe/Millwood deal now, you get an extra 3.5 mil to do something else for the rest of the year. If that extra money let's me get Paul Abbott out of the rotation, that makes the Lowe/Millwood deal look better to me. If they are serious about not adding any more payroll. Plus, I am just sick of seeing Millwood pitching against Atlanta.
  8. The only thing I would disagree with is that they NEED a CF. I think they may end up having to address the CF situation, but for now Michaels deserves a shot full time. They definitely need at least one starter or a big time bullpen arm to allow Madson to move into the rotation. First thing I would do is call up Boston and see if they do the Millwood for Lowe deal that has been thrown around. With Lowe's 3+ Groundball/Flyball ration, he could help quell the HR numbers at CBP. This gives them a few million to do something else. Trade Ryan Howard for whatever the hell I can get for him. I am tired of the Phillies holding onto their prospects for so long they end up depriciating in value. Find a taker for Howard and get a pitcher to help out now. If you get a good reliever for him, then move Madson to the rotation. If a starter, then Madson can stay in the pen. I'd also see if I could get a pitcher for Polanco. If Polanco can bring me some pitching help, I move him and then get Utley into the lineup permanently.
  9. Inter-engine fermentated alcohol?
  10. Have to give some credit to the Phils management. They may have screwed up big time in dealing with the original voting, but they went out of their way to get everyone behind Abreu. Now if they could just get a pitcher.
  11. Looking at Gammons' latest column, I am trying to figure out what is up with his NL ROY pick to this point. He doesn't even mention Ryan Madson or Jason Bay. His debate is between Matt Holliday and Khalil Greene. In 45 games Bay has put up superior numbers to either of those two and in relief appearances Madson has about a 1.10 ERA in 49.2 IP. You're telling me Bay nor Madson can enter the debate when you have Greene 32/4/28 .263/.351/.395/.756, along with 13 errors Holliday 37/9/34 .294/.356/.494/.849 in Coors Field
  12. I would still do it as only his last two games are really bad. In the two prior to that he allowed some runs but had 20 Ks compared to 3 BBs in those games. The only thing I would do is to make sure he is healthy and that the low K total in the last two games is not the result of some oncoming arm trouble.
  13. I would do Nomar-Penny in a heartbeat if I am Boston. Schilling-Pedro-Penny? That ain't too shabby looking.
  14. The accepted theory in Philly is that Recchi is going to end up with the Penguins and there were some rumors floating around Zhamnov might join him.
  15. How long would you wait, if you were the Astros, before trying to turn Beltran around to another team? If I am 8 games out with 4 other teams ahead of me, if my team doesn't take a chunk of that before the AS break I have to look into moving him again.
  16. It is hard to make the team with only 4 wins like Leiter has (being injured for a stretch did not help). And Looper just ran into the Overbay problem of position depth, his numbers aren't as good as 3 of the 4 relievers and the 4th has the saves for people to blow a load over.
  17. I'm in for any Yahoo ones we do, but like Marvin I forgot my password and ended up completely blowing off this league last year. So I won't bother wasting a spot when I would forget again anyway. The draft for this last year did provide my greatest draft memory ever when someone used a first round pick on the other Ricky Williams (RB, Indy).
  18. Ok, at this point I am going to assume there are no limits per email as I am pretty certain I would have crossed the 25 threshhold over the last 30 minutes.
  19. Does it tell you when you have used up the 25 votes for the email address? Also, want to mention Phillies now 7-0 in my appearances at CBP this year. I don't want to take full credit for it, but I would like my fair share (hell, if Doug Glanville gives a share I want mine.)
  20. And a guy who pees on his hands does? Oh well, time to get to work voting in the 32nd man poll.
  21. Flyers also signed Knuble.
  22. Saw the movie. Thought it was great, pretty much everything has been covered. One question: My only real experience is with the animated series, but didn't his powers going on the fritz transition to becoming the man-spider? That could be quite an undertaking for the CGI guys if they put that in the film.
  23. A note to anyone who hasn't gone to the store yet, the credit prices are now up for the three items. Shirt - 15000 credits Hat - 15000 credits Poster - 10000 credits
  24. Latest thing to make me really sad: The fact that Kevin Millwood cleared waivers after I dropped him in the mixed league. Not exactly what I was expecting when he became a Phillie.
  25. The only thing I can think of in regards to Howard is they just want to let him rack up some stats to drive up the trade value. With Thome clogging first there really is no rush to promote him and get him ready for the big leagues, so let him smash some records and then sell high.
