Time to get the Atlanta clock going. With the 37th pick in the 2004 TSM NFL draft, the Detroit Lions select out of Western Michigan.......Jason Babin, DE The leaders on the team in sacks last year each had only 4.5. Robert Porcher and James Hall are not exactly going to be the DEs to lead a team in the future. Throw in the fact Porcher will be gone soon and that leads this selection for an upgrade at DE.

Ok, I am hoping BX just went away to get his pick together. Otherwise not going to be thrilled considering I PMed him while he was here.

::the Eagles GM starts to walk to the podium, suddenly veers off to kick Gert right in the junk, heads back to the podium:: With the 28th selection in the 2004 TSM Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles proudly select out of Auburn......Karlos Dansby, LB When Wilfork left the board he was the only player of insane value left that would prevent the Eagles from filling a dire need. At 6-3, 250 pounds Dansby gives the Eagles a LB with some size behind him, in their rotation of smaller LBs.

I like our chances of finishing this round by the end of tomorrow with the names coming up now. Side note: How are we doing the second round? Are we eliminating people who didn't make their pick in the first?

There is the poster for Total Elimination. Now the cynic in me would say they only put four on the poster, because they have no idea who else is fighting between injuries and people pulling out. -
Philadelphia 2003: Jerome McDougle, DE Grade: Inc. He was hurt most of last year, plus having ND Kalu and Brandon Whiting on the other side of you isn't going to help at all. Big expectations this year with Kearse on the other side. 2002: Lito Sheppard, CB Grade: C- Showed last year he has the ability to play as a starting CB. Now whether he can be a good one is a different question. But too many questions still flying around considering he was a 1st round pick. 2001: Freddie Mitchell, WR Grade: D He was the Eagles best WR last year, but that was through process of elimination only. With the other WRs who were taken in that draft, along with 2 abysmal years before his 1 breakout decent year this pick isn't anything to write home about. 2000: Corey Simon, DT Grade: A- Not the dominant force that you want out of a top 10 pick, but if he is healthy he is a perennial pro-bowler. Nothing to complain about there. 1999: Donovan McNabb, QB Grade: A- This is the year McNabb proves whether he is an elite QB or just an elite playmaker. If his accuracy gets honed this year the grade becomes an A+, because he will be a top 5 player.

I would just throw in the usual, if he is here before Bored he can change the pick. Even though, if that were anyway possible we wouldn't be picking this early. Anyway, next four picks 16. San Francisco 49ers - Bored 17. Cincinnati Bengals - Choken One 18. New Orleans Saints - Flyboy 19. Minnesota Vikings - LaParkaMarka

After this one, we are probably looking at a nice run of quick picks.
-
Tampa Bay (TheGregWitul) is on the clock until 2am EST tonight.
-
Edit: nothing to see here.
-
I was figuring on a full day in this two pick stretch. ::sees TheGregWitul has 6 posts this year:: Unless that is someone's gimmick accouunt I think we are looking at another 12 hours.
-
Ok, I am making the pick so we can get the CV 12 hour clock going. If APO gets in before CV, just go ahead and change this pick. With the 9th pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars select......Kenechi Udeze, DE, USC Debate raged about Roy Williams in this slot, but there is plenty of WR value in round 2. The Jags need a defensive end after the abortion that was the Hugh Douglas signing. They still have Jimmy Smith and Kevin Johnson to bide time until the develop a second round level WR. 16.5 sacks last year was just too much for the Jags to pass up on at this point.

WHOOHOO! Snuck into the championship game somehow.
-
Oh, that's horseshit.

What is the tie breaker?

With the 7th pick in the draft, the Cleveland Browns proudly select, out of the University of Miami.....Kellen Winslow Jr. (TE) Last year, Steve Heiden led the Cleveland TEs in receptions with 18. Needless to say they could use an upgrade. In Winslow, they get arguably the best TE to ever enter the draft. At 6'3", 250 pounds he has the size to withstand the punishment of the pro game. And with a 4.5 40 he should be able to blow away any linebacker that plays across from him. There are some concerns about his character. He seems to have a short fuse while on the playing field. He seems likely to cause a couple of personal fouls over the course of the season. But we are talking about "15 yards every couple of games" type of baggage, as opposed to "using substances or being violent off the field and get suspended" baggage. His talent is enough to overcome that. After seeing the immediate impact that Jeremy Shockey had on the Giants and the NFC East, you can't turn down the chance to jump on Winslow who could be even better.

Flyboy, I am around for the next hour. So I will do a write up for my pick if you pick the Detroit pick before then.
