Going down to the wire with myself and the Guerreros. He currently leads 5-3 with myself having Maggette and Kirilenko left and he has Raja Bell left. FG - Guerreros by 18 FT - Whalers by 11 3PT - Whalers by 7 PTS - Guerreros by 18 REB - Guerreros by 23 ASSISTS - Guerreros by 31 BLOCKS - Guerreros by 8 STEALS - Whalers by 6 I certainly don't see Raja Bell stealing any of the three categories I have. It is going to come down to the FGs and Pts. I am cautiously optimistic right now. I have little doubt I will overtake in Points, but the FGs will be close.

Note: I PMed Flyboy with 4 choices for my pick as I will be out most of the day Sunday. So if he picks for me that's cool.

Did I get my ever elusive Triple Crown?

I think starting now we should use the 12 hour rule. UG was an exception with the first pick. We knew this deal was starting this weekend, but didn't know it was going to be at 3 in the morning. So cutting UG a break to start was fine, but at this point a glance should have been made to this thread. So what does that make it 8am-ish?

Well, it took the Dilfer having an all time defense to get there. Same with Brad Johnson, and lets not forget that in the second half of that season he played like a franchise caliber QB. Carolina was in the right place, at the right time, in a shitty conference where an excellent D-line and a solid running game was all you needed. Also, I am sure you could look at every position like that. Why should San Diego draft a WR when the Pats haven't had an elite one? Why draft Gallery when the Tampa Bay line was nothing special in their year?
-
Predictable first three picks. The only debatable one is the Raiders passing up on Gallery and Fitz. But there are plenty of quality WRs in this draft and they need someone to take over for Gannon next year. G-Men on the clock.

Wasn't the Cardinals whole mantra this past offseason, that they don't have the money to increase payroll?
-
That was indepth. BTW, just for curiosity, who did he give you?

I think you have to have Belfort/Couture before any other fight for that belt. Then after that figure the winner fights Chuck, unless they get the Silva vs. UFC champ fight. But chances of that are slim and none with the Sakuraba and Fujita bullshit.

" I have the month lined up each week for an MMA column." Is one of those the "Why we want a MMA folder?" article you said you were going to do a couple months ago? -
At first I thought it was a little odd how he went down. But when they showed one of the replays it looked like a shot snuck through and caught him clear on the chin.

I thought this was an excellent show. Liddell/Ortiz - Started slow, but the crowd was really alive during that stretch so it didn't seem that bad. Once Chuck got the feel it was awesome. Cabbage/Arlovski - Cabbage is a fucking freak. Stand up war. I don't agree with Rogan stating it was a premature stoppage. You figure if someone like Cabbage goes down from a punch there is some damage and he was in a defenseless position. Cabbage didn't even dispute it. Diaz/Lawler - Holy fuck. Fight of the night. Diaz was fucking great. Until his post fight interview. Didn't understand a damn word he said. Edwards/Franca - Eh. The only fight that didn't do anything for me. Franca didn't seem to do anything other than hold once they got to the ground. Flashes during the stretch where he went for a leg lock, but nothing arose from it. And the only other action from him was forced by Edwards' attempted kimura. There were some funny spots during the fight, but I was hoping for a good ground fight in this match after it had been all stand up all the time in the prior fights. Sudo/Brown - This was a really nice change of pace after all of the stand up. Sweet submission from Sudo. I don't get why people don't show up for the prelim fights though. Why would you pay big money, then only go for 5/8ths of the event? Tiki/Lytle - What the fuck was with Lytle throwing a punch, then backing up, lather rinse repeat. He had him on the ropes at times, yet just kept backing up. The submission was great, however, thus making it a decent match in combination with some solid standup.

Hockey: Eliminate center line, drastically shrink goalie pads (they were meant to protect, not assist the goalie) Baseball: Salary floor, batters stay in the box, pitchers stay on the mound. No walking around for a minute after each pitch crap. Basketball: Actually start enforcing existing rules

Let me guess, you're going CB?

Let's see if bravesfan pops in within the next couple of hours as he has been the "commish" of this deal.

I already took my second team. If you want them go for it. Flyboy's idea works, though, if you don't. Whoever is online when those people pick can take it if noone wants them.

Still need: Carolina Miami Tennessee

The Ewing/Bledsoe Theory.

I seriously doubt we will get to the Packers pick this weekend. Also, I assume we are using the 12 hour rule right from the beginning this year, right?

Compensatory picks have been announced so we have to remember to add them into the order if we go long enough. I would guess Robert Henderson (heir to the Big Stick Award throne) reaches 500 first. I didn't start my career until age 21 and it took a few years to get the power spike going. If the people age well I have a shot in 5 or 6 years. But Henderson already has 103 HRs under his belt in 4 seasons and is just now 21. He has a good 13-15 season left and he just needs to average 27-30 HRs.
