No empire that has ever existed in the entire sum of human history has ever wielded the power that America does today. Militarily, politically, economically, culturally. That dominance won't slip in my lifetime, nor likely the lifetime of my great-grandchildren.

You know what would have been really stellar? If instead of being shot this Amish kid had been devoured by He Who Walks Behind The Rows. Someone here must get that joke.

New Zogby Poll For All Of You To Disregard
Vyce replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Current Events
Thank you, I will. -
I don't know. "Dumb puppy" and "broken toy" are just a little too bizarre and / or harsh to be simply excused away as "taken out of context."

For what it's worth, I actually find JMA to be perhaps the least annoying individual here, i.e. of those who follow his particular political ideology. (Sorry if that's something of a backhanded compliment, J, I mean you no disrespect.)

No shit, look at the language this guy uses. "Rewards in heaven." Sound familiar to anyone?

My interest was peaked when I saw "Six Feet Under", because I instantly thought of the TV show, which I enjoy. Then I saw it was just the moronic ramblings of some death metal singer, and I ceased to care.

I'm with JMA on this one. True, there has always been turmoil in the Middle East, but the addition of religion to the equation has made it that much worse, far beyond simple racial / ethnic hatreds.

France: Hamas, Islamic Jihad not terror groups

JMA - I'm nowhere near the optimist you are, in general. About this, I'm even more cynical than usual. Chave - Look, I know you don't live here in the States, so you don't know (which I fully admit is part of your argument about France), but Mike isn't blowing smoke out his ass here - there is no institutionalized system of racism in American government. Even the hint of that sort of thing is DEATH to a politician's career. Well......except for Sen. Byrd. For some reason, that fucker is given a free pass. -
The only one of these people I care about is Bale, who is not only a fine young actor but would fit the part, physically-speaking, quite well. I hope he gets cast. There will be a geek revolt, I predict, should Jackson get anywhere near the cowl.

This is almost a shame, I was contemplating watching the new Mariachi film with Depp, but fuck that. I'll just wait till the vampire Matrix movie opens. Obviously, Depp has a right to say what he wishes about America. But his remarks will likely be used as just more anti-America propaganda by the Europeans, and THAT is what annoys me about his idiotic ramblings. As for young Wuken here - next time, when you want to make blanket statements criticizing this country (unfairly and incorrectly), please have the stones to just admit your country of origin (or failing that, at least the nation to which you now pledge allegiance - which I'm guess isn't the U.S. of A.) so that we know how to properly categorize you.

I like it, but I think they move WAY too fast through plotlines. Some of them, obviously, need only a couple episodes to wrap up - such as Matt's circumcision subplot. Others, though, could easily last much longer. They've already blown through enough plotlines in 6 episodes to last most shows a full season.

One of my favorite moments in my somewhat unorthodox Criminal Law course last year took place during a discussion of the "Battered Spouse Syndrome" and how it may be used to mitigate a charge of murder. The most vocal member of the class - a young man who, on several occasions, proudly stated his family's connection with Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam - spoke up and immediately went off upon a tangent on how women are not treated poorly under the religion of Islam. The professor subsequently came in the next class and proceeded to DESTROY those arguments with direct quotes from the Koran which stated a man's duty to own - and beat if necessary - his bride. It brought a smile to my face.

Hey, look at me, holding my breath over here. -
16 thousand. Compare that to the 80k (with over 2 million gate) at Wembley just 11 years ago. We live in different times.

7 out of 10. And might I agree with Marney by saying that the answer to 6 is flat out wrong. And personally, I think their answer for 10 is bullshit too.
-
I agree. I also think this applies to people on the other side of the spectrum who blame Bush for 9/11 (and they do exist). I think Marney's correct when she says that it was virtually inevitable that something like it was going to happen sooner or later.

VERY glad I am to see "Pirates" still going strong. It deserves it. "FvJ" has absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed about. I've heard that it only cost around 30 to 40 million to make, and it'll likely draw in around 90 million domestically when it's all said & done.

If you've seen the original, only two possibilites exist. a) Helms is doing a variation of the move, as some have postulated here, or b) He's doing one hell of a fucked-up, retarded version of Mutoh's SW. I mean, seriously. George Hines can do it better.

To paraphrase the late Gorilla Monsoon, "A-Train and Orlando Jordan is a match that could main event anywhere in the world!"

Despite the fact that this means no long-term out-of-ring hiatus for HHH, I'm loving this news. Looks like big daddy Vince can't give you EVERYTHING you want, can he, Hunter? And they would be right. At least about the weight loss.
-
I don't like it when mommy and daddy fight either.

I don't know what this says about me, but I kind of dug that song when it came out. Of course, I was like 13 at the time.

Hulk was a GOOD movie. Of the individuals who disagree, the one's I've encountered largely feel it wasn't good for the simple fact that Ang Lee *gasp!* focused more on the story than having Hulk tear shit up. Plot-wise, Hulk was easily better than X2 (taking nothing away from that film, which was highly entertaining), and I'd put it on the same level as Spider-Man (which I liked, and didn't think was overrated). That said, I have bad feelings about Punisher. I just hope it's at least as decent as Daredevil was.
