  3. Any more thoughts?
  4. Sorry if this was answered earlier, but what was up with Hogan lying down for Sting at Havoc 99? Was he hurt? Because I don't remember him coming back until after Russo was taken out for the first time. I know the whole thing was an angle to get the title off Sting and start a big tournament, but was Hogan really hurt or anything?
  5. Does anyone else wonder why Kenzo and Hiroko talk to each other in English? Does Luther Reigns remind anyone else of the Grinch? I'm not really digging the card for Armageddon... And come on, I hate the fact that this guy Jesus who "just got his wrestling license" gets a US title shot. Way to make the titles look like they mean something... Best exchange of the night was during the TE crap: Tazz: Cole, why do you get into this so much? Cole: Because it's FUN! Tazz: Well, fun to me is watching a good match or a football game, but...
  6. I think you're taking a dragon being on the poster WAAAAY too far. To Vince, Asai is just another little Japanese cruiserweight.
  7. Daivari's the manager, he won't even wrestle. Hassan is using the camel clutch as a finisher at house shows.
  8. I'm gonna get the Rumble and Mania...

  10. This topic is blatantly stolen from the DVDVR board, where Mike Rome posted about why Samoa Joe is the wrestler of the year. http://board.deathvalleydriver.com/index.php?showtopic=24164 Who do you think is the wrestler of the year, and why?
  11. The Jake the Snake/Randy Savage stuff in 1991. From a snake biting Savage's arm to Jake slapping Liz.
  12. A shoot fight on PPV is going to be interesting and ridiculous at the same time.
  13. Another set of spoilers, from WO: Velocity & Smackdown Tapings from Richmond, VA by Kirk S. Dark Match - Local wrestler def. ??? Velocity - Kidman def. Chavo (Kidman used the ropes for the pinfall victory) - Jindrak/Reigns def. Nunzio/Funaki (Jindrak used his finisher on one of them and got the pinfall) - London def. Akio (I'm not sure how London won it; security distracted my section) Smackdown - Joy comes out to ringside. - Backstage, JBL, OJ, Amy, and the Bashams enter the arena. They run into Teddy Long, who asks what was up with last week. JBL tells Teddy that the Bashams are now the Secretaries of Defense in his cabinet. Teddy makes a couple of matches for tonight ~ Bashams vs Eddie/Booker and JBL/OJ vs Undertaker in a handicap match. - SD opening plays on the screen. Fireworks were insanely loud. - Mysterio/RVD/Torrie def. Dupree/Kenzo/Hiroko after RVD hit the 5-star frog splash on one of his opponents and pinned the guy. - There was a backstage promo with Hiroko complaining to Kenzo about his fascination with Torrie. She was so pissed off she got herself a Bra & Panties match against Torrie next week on SD, thinking she has the better body. Kenzo grinned after Hiroko walked off. - Tough Enough contestants come out. They pre-recorded comments about who they would eliminate this week. Milzan (sp?), Reeves, and Smith all said Puder. Puder said Smith. Reeves was eliminated by the fans. Al Snow told the remaining three that this week's challenge is that they would have to show their feminine side and dress up like women. - Haas (w/Jackie) vs Jesus (w/Carlito). Carlito gets on the mic and asks Jackie why is she with Charlie when she can be with a cool guy like Carlito. Haas hit Carlito, then Jesus beat on Haas a bit and gave him a chain shot to the gut. The match never happened. Haas had to be helped to the back. - Backstage, Teddy informs Carlito & Jesus that it will be Jesus vs Cena at Armageddon in a Street Fight. (I don't think he said whether or not the U.S. title will be on the line, but I'd assume it will be.) - Backstage, Booker & Eddie were stretching with Michelle and the two men argued for the 2nd week in row. - Eddie/Booker vs Bashams. JBL & OJ were at ringside. Towards the end, Eddie was about to hit the frog splash on one of the Bashams when Booker got in the way, complaining about something. Bashams took advantage and one of them used the ropes to pin Eddie. After the match, JBL hit Eddie with a clothesline from hell and did the same to Booker. JBL & OJ give the Bashams props and they all leave the ring. After an ad on the big screen, Eddie & Booker get up, almost fight, but don't. - Kurt Angle Invitational. Angle def. local jobber easily in less than a minute. - After Kurt's match, Luther gets on the mic and says he wants to apologize to Joy for last week by taking her on a date. Joy gets in the ring and turns him down cuz she has a date with Big Show. This pisses Luther off...he, Kurt, and Jindrak are about to put their hands on Joy when Big Show comes out and cleans house. After Angle & co retreat to the back, Joy gives Big Show a hug. - Tough Enough contestants come back out dressed like women. Al Snow calls out Hardcore Holly to be a part of this "challenge". At first Holly doesn't want any part of it, but after Snow implied he was a coward, Holly changed his mind. Each of the guys aka drag queens hit on Holly. Milzan won the contest. After Snow told people to vote, Holly decked him with a punch (that may not be shown on TV). - Dawn comes out, asking the crowd who looks better as Santa ~ her or Jackie. The crowd didn't really favor one over the other. Jackie runs out and the two girls catfought. Teddy comes out and makes a match between them for the PPV. - Taker def. JBL & OJ by DQ when the two men low-blowed Taker. After the match, JBL, OJ, and the Bashams beatdown to Taker to close the show. After the TV cameras appeared to stop rolling, JBL challenged a weakened Taker to a one-on-one match. JBL was the aggressor at first, but then Taker turned the tables, kicked his ass, took out OJ & the Bashams, chokeslammed JBL and then tombstoned JBL. Taker left after that. A couple minutes later, JBL comes to and asks for a mic. He's still on the ground, talking nonsense and acting like a dumbass. It was kinda funny though. When he finally stood up on his feet, he fell right back down. Chimmel thanked us for coming and that was all. It was a very solid show overall. Nothing sucked except for the 2nd Tough Enough segment ~ it was stupid crap I didn't need to see. All the matches from both SD & Velocity were decent at the very least. The crowd was a lil crazy IMO. Mostly everyone got a reaction; Taker got the biggest pops of the night. ===================================================== So Armageddon is looking like: JBL vs. Taker vs. Booker vs. Eddie Cena vs. Jesus Dupree/Suzuki vs. RVD/Rey (man, the tag champs have been jobbing like crazy) Spike vs. Shannon Moore Jackie vs. Dawn Marie (Charlie Haas as heel turning referee) Big Show vs. Luther Reigns And that leaves us with maybe Chavo vs. Kidman in a rematch? Angle and his hometown challenge? The Bashams, who are getting a big push again? Orlando Jordan? Who knows.
  14. I want to see London vs. Akio.
  15. Wow, how obvious is it that Haas is turning heel?
  16. Velocity: 1) Chavo vs. Kidman 2) Funaki/Nunzio vs. Reigns/Jindrak 3) London vs. Akio Smackdown: 1) RVD, Rey, and Torrie vs. Kenzo, Dupree, and Hiroko 2) Charlie Haas vs. Jesus 3) Booker T and Eddie vs. Bashams 4) Kurt Angle Invitational 5) Undertaker vs. JBL and Orlando Jordan -The Tough Enough segment sounds like it might be worse than the Moolah/Mae Young stuff. And that's saying something.
  17. From PWInsider... Thanks to Trace Armstrong for sending along a report from the Smackdown taping in Richmond, Virginia. Bill ????? over Scott Matthews with a reverse roll-up. Terrible match, just terrible. Billy Kidman over Chavo by pinfall with his feet on the ropes. Great match with a lot of back and forth action. Kidman worked the left arm of Chavo the whole match. Luther Reigns and Jindrak over Funaki and Nunzio when Jindrak pinned Funaki after his finisher. Basically a squash with little offense from Funaki and Nunzio. Paul London pinned Akio following a top rope DDT. Match of the night by far. Highlights saw London do a flip over the ropes to the outside and the incredible finisher. WWE is missing the ball by not pushing London, he was over by the end of the match. Now for Smackdown..... Opening skit with Theodore Long telling JBL and his entire crew that The Bashams would take on Eddie Guerrero and Booker T in a tag match and that JBL and Orlando would face Undertaker in a handicap match. Opening pyro followed by... (1) RVD, Rey Mysterio, and Torrie Wilson vs. Kenzo, Hiroko, and Renee Dupree. Short match that ended when RVD hit the Five Star on Kenzo and Mysterio pinned him. After the match Hiroko and Torrie got into it and Theodore Long made a Bra and Panties Match for next week. Tough Enough Segment: They all come out and Al asks one of them (Ryan Reeves) if he wanted to quit because he had broken ribs. He feigned quitting then said no. Interviews backstage by all 4 about who should go. All of them said Puder and Puder said either Justice or broken rib guy. He was then eliminated leaving Justice, Miz, and Puder. Al Snow announces that they will have a beauty contest where the 3 remaining contestants would have to dress up like a woman (the crowd could have cared less). (2) Charlie Haas vs. Jesus is a no contest before the bell. Jesus and Carlito beat down Charlie Haas. Backstage segment where one of the Diva contestants (another one got hired...I can't believe this crap...fire Gail Kim and Nidia who can wrestle and hire T&A to do nothing but try to keep Eddie and Booker from fighting...great Vince) tried to keep Eddie and Booker from fighting in the locker room. Eddie tells Booker he'll see him out there. (3) Bashams vs. Booker T and Eddie. Good match with decent action. Eddie was way over in Richmond. JBL does commentary while Orlando Jordan sits there and looks dumb. Late in the match, Eddie accidentally pulls down the top rope and and Booker tumbles to the outside with a Basham. Eddie hits Three Amigos and Booker comes back in and argues with Eddie. Eddie gets knocked into Booker and Eddie is rolled up for the pin. (4) Kurt Angle Invitational. Crowd loves to chant "You Suck!" Same story as last week. A local jobber who gets no reaction until Chimel says he's from Richmond then he gets the pop of the night. Simply ridiculous. Angle gets on the Mic and insults the crowd. Angle slaps the Sebastian the Jobber from Richmond then whips him in the ropes, hits the Angle Slam, down come the straps, and a tap to the ankle lock. Match lasted maybe 30 seconds. (5) Dawn Marie comes down wearing a Santa outfit similar to Jackie's earlier. They get in a catfight and Long comes out and makes a match at Armageddon with Dawn Marie vs. Jackie with Charlie Haas as special referee. I smell heel turn for Charlie. Tough Enough Segment: Expectations were really low for this but it wound up being the best one of the competition so far but that's not saying much. Puder comes out first and he just looks like a dude dressed as a woman. Justice AHEM...Justine as he was announced and came out looking like a Male Transvestite. It was sick. Miz comes out last and looks awesome. He's wearing a Metallica shirt with cutoff jeans, a wig, and carrying a Six pick of Miller Lite. To put a mental image in your head. He looked like Chyna dressed up in Nidia trailer park trash clothes. Al Snow announces the catch saying you have to seduce a superstar....CUE Bob Holly still getting punished. Bob Holly's music hits and the Tough Enough contestants have to seduce Bob Holly. I know but it gets worse. An exchange takes place and Holly tries to leave but Al punks him into staying. Miz tries to just come on like an actress in a 30's movie by going..."Hardcore....Hardcore....hehehhehhehe." The Miz has acting skills. Holly tried to keep from laughing but he broke character the whole time. Justin comes up next and he acts like a inner city ho and presents him with a bottle of, I kid you not, Colt 45 Malt Liquor. Vince is in the back getting off on this I'm sure. Puder just gives Holly a teddy bear. Holly keeps breaking character and laughing then he beats up Al Snow. (6) Jordan and JBL vs. Undertaker. Undertaker dominates the whole match until the end. Undertaker hits all his signature spots until he goes for a double choke slam. JBL hits a low blow and the ref calls for the bell. JBL's whole posse comes out and beat down on the Undertaker. Undertaker uses his "powers" to recover and fend them off after JBL sends them all out of the ring. All four take a choke slam and then JBL gets tombstoned. Taker walks out and looks back and sneers then raises his arm and leaves. This won't be on Smackdown but JBL is laying in the ring with a mic and has the Bashams try to help him up. Lot of comedic mic work followed with Redskins insults and everything else under the sun. Bashams support him, then he tells them to open the ropes, they let go and he fell like a tree trunk and calls for a doctor. He finally leaves to end the show. After the show I waited by the ramp outside to meet wrestlers. Chavo and Eddie left together and Eddie signed autographs while their car was at the red light then he pulled away. Nunzio signed a shirt I threw down to him and he threw back up. Then, Ricky Steamboat walks up the ramp and into the crowd. There's about 50 people and he graciously signs autographs and takes pictures until everyone that wanted one had one. It was awesome to meet one of my idols. It started to rain and most people left but me and two other guys waited. Undertaker drove up and waved at us. Paul Heyman leaves and we tried to get his attention but he was in the passenger seat on the phone. His driver kept waving at us. I was wearing an ECW hat so I was trying to get Paul's attention to get an autograph. They drive away and 3 minutes later he circles back and rolls down his window and screamed ECW then drove away. It was pretty funny. All in all, a decent show. Middle of the road. Paul London's match was the best on the night but then again I'm a mark for AJ Styles, Benoit, and Eddie Guerrero so I'm a workrate lover and London showed it.
  18. Women who don't want to take off their clothes in front of the fans (are there any left in the WWE? Christ) are prudish bitches. Oh, and you'd better drink beer and like it, dammit, or Austin will give you a stunner. I'm looking at you, Stacey Keibler.
  19. Yeah, I'm wary about Hero vs. Morgan (and I'm sure Morgan will get put over, which sucks), but the cards look fairly interesting.
  20. 12.12.04 Highland, IN IWA-MS: - B.J. Whitmer/Steve Stone/Chris Candido vs. Ian Rotten/Danny Daniels/Terry Funk - Title vs. Mask - Jimmy Jacobs vs. Delirious - Chris Hero vs. Donovan Morgan - Rainman vs. B-Boy - Matt Sydal vs. Todd Sexton - Sal Rinauro/Jay Fury vs. Nate Webb/Brandon Thomselli - Allison Danger vs. Daizee Haze - Mschif vs. Mickie Knuckles 12.18.04 - Jamie Knoble vs. Matt Sydal - Cage Match - Ian Rotten/Danny Daniels vs. Steve Stone/B.J. Whitmer
  21. Oh, you probably know this, but ROH is doing a 20% off sale until Thursday night, so now would be a good time to order.
  22. Not to the guy that gets a million. But yeah, like the Diva Search it doesn't matter who wins. They'll all get jobs if they show enough promise.
  23. Yes, I believe they are. Meltzer's update a few weeks ago mentioned how all the guys were coming along as far as picking up the wrestling goes.
  24. I'd go with: -Generation Next -World Title Classic if you want to see Punk vs. Joe's first 60-minute match, if not then skip it -Survival of the Fittest -Death Before Dishonor 2 Night 2 From there, skip August's shows and the 9/11 show, and wait for 10/2, 10/15, and 10/16 to come out on DVD, or get them on VHS if you want. Just my opinion.
  25. http://www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/toughen..._eliminated.jsp Hopefully we'll get full spoilers in a few hours. If this isn't worthy of its own thread, feel more than willing to delete it.
