  1. I'd take a flyer on him, but not until I have assurances he is not going to miss much time with his back spasms.
  2. Dark horse my ass, he should have won it. That was Prince's award for being the shut down guy for the team this year. I couldn't tell if Wallace was the best defender or not. I will say Prince is a damned good defender in his own right.
  3. Mild surprise that MLB actually suspended an above-replacement value player.
  4. Alright guys. Knock this crap off.
  5. I'd love to see the NBA ditch the first round altogether and switch to an eight team format, but that is not financially feasible.
  6. I'm a Dodger fan, and I know for a fact that I couldn't watch every game when they were down. It's like a slap in the face to the fans of the team when there is consistent failure with no attempt to make changes. Of course, the media cried the loudest when the team DID make changes.
  7. As far as rotations, Florida will succeed as long as they are healthy. Otherwise, I have reservations about the other four, particularly Arizona. Also note four of those teams are NL teams. I should adjust for the league next time. Minnesota has the best chance to continue their bullpen success, with Joe Nathan, Juan Rincon, J.C. Romero, and Jesse Crain. Houston will do well as long as Brad Lidge is throwing heat, and the LA Angels have always featured a good bullpen.
  8. After this week.... AL MVP: Brian Roberts, Balt AL Cy Young: Jon Garland, CWS AL Rookie of the Year: Tadahito Iguchi, CWS AL Manager of the Year: Ozzie Guillen, CWS NL MVP: Derrek Lee, ChC NL Cy Young: Dontrelle Willis, Fla NL Rookie of the Year: Clint Barmes, Col NL Manager of the Year: Jim Tracy, LAD Brian Roberts and Derrek Lee retain their spots from last week. Garland and Willis earn Cy Young frontrunner status based on their 5-0 records. Garland also leads the league in ERA, while Willis is second in the NL. I see no reason to budge the manager awards. Iguchi barely edges last week's leader, Jeremy Reed, and Clint Barmes widened the gap in the NL.
  9. June: .208/.352/.308 July: .284/.402/.469 August: .276/.409/.500 September: .267/.364/.430 October: 1 for 2 Playoffs: .244/.358/.267
  10. I find the Yankee overreaction to Posada quite amusing. He's a guy who put up a .400 OBP just last year.
  11. Yes. I spent half an offseason listening to Buster Olney praising the Yankees' rotation as the best in baseball. I do think at this point, Florida has the prize in a landslide. Top 5 Rotations, by starters' ERA 1. Florida (2.34) 2. Chicago White Sox (2.89) 3. Atlanta (2.89) 4. St. Louis (3.39) 5. Arizona (3.85) I rated the White Sox ahead of the Braves for playing in the American League. Top 5 Bullpens, by relievers' ERA 1. Florida 2. Minnesota 3. Seattle 4. Houston 5. Los Angeles Angels
  12. Manute Bol went 0 for 1 in each of his first three consecutive seasons. In 1989, he found himself on the Golden State Warriors, and went 20 for 91 over that season. For his career, Bol hit 43 three pointers in 205 attempts. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bolma01.html
  13. Isn't his only major problem his lack of patience? edit: Holy shit, Mondesi killed that. Lack of patience is an understatement. Reyes has yet to draw a walk all season. Phillies were frustrating again last night. We could've gotten back into that game if we had the chance, down by one with 12 outs left. Instead we're 10-14. And now Thome's hurt, although given his play, I'm almost anxious to see Ryan Howard get an opportunity.
  14. I'm cool with it as long as the owner do not make any other inane demands with the Collective Bargaining Agreement expiring after next season.
  15. Sounds familiar. Perhaps. But there are times when the breaks just do not go your way, and it can get frustrating at times. Especially when the team came within an eyelash of pulling it out.
  16. Hey Manute Bol's a great guy, he's met with some bad luck recently. He got in a car crash and now he doesn't know if they'll have to amputate his hand or not. Oh I agree. Why else would I want him on my team? Besides being a great guy, he's fun, supports his cause, and can shoot the three.
  17. 1000:1. Wade will not be fired until after the season.
  18. For you. This team is just disgusting to watch at times. It is difficult because the talent is there, they just can not get it done for some reason.
  19. At least this time the Yankees are facing a good pitcher. It's nice to see Geary do well. He's dominated the minors, and he deserves an extended chance in Philly.
  20. I'm also drafting World B. Free.
  21. Fucking Marlins.
  22. And while we're at it, dibs on Manute Bol.
  23. hahaha you said bush hahahaha you said wang. Someone at BTF suggested that the Yankees should round out their rotation with R.A. Dickey and Sterling Hitchcock.
  24. In order to pull something like this off, you need two things. 1. A system capable of producing a simulation and deciding a winner. 2. An impartial way of importing players into that simulation. Number two is a necessity, because otherwise, the result will be decided purely by the person creating the players and their attributes.
  25. I can't imagine how Sonny Siaki feels right now, although it is not certain that injury led to Candido's death. I haven't seen this brought up before, and I think it deserves attention. Sports Illustrated ran an article in its February 28, 2005 edition. On page 50, SI ran an article about a new strand of staph infection that attacked athletes, and that it affected those infected at an alarmingly high speed. So you make a few reasonable connections. Serious injury, potentially unsanitary locker rooms and wrestling environment (I doubt this is a high priority to a mid-range wrestling outlet such as TNA) and one can see where a problem may have occured. Obviously, this is not the only possibility. Also, I am changing the sub-title on the TNA folder temporarily.
