  1. Mussina may have been wrong. I'm just saying why the fans were upset. There's two sides to every story, and there is probably a little truth in both. Its worth noting that the game started the trend of using every player in the game, which eventually led to the 2002 All Star Game debacle.
  2. That stinks. I hope Montreal gets a AAA team. They have loyal baseball fans there.
  3. Basically, Cito Gaston did not use Mike Mussina in his hometown park. Boxscore
  4. If you have any difficulties with that link, IM me (alkeiper) and I'll give you a direct chat invite.

  6. Great, we can have teams figure out how to just get to the playoffs and then fall of the map And the big market Yankees have figured out the path to success?
  7. Very true. Al, do you think of the Sox's remarkable comeback here as some kind of vindication for the Sabermetric Revolution? Billy Beane, Epstein, and the like get put down by popular baseball media folks, who still cling to the notion that sacrifice bunts are worthwhile. Does this give Beane, Epstein, et al the vindication they need, or will that only come with a World Series win? Not at all. The media has already determined that the Sabermetric Revolution is bunk, and no level of evidence to the contrary is going to convince them otherwise. Which is good. The longer the rest of baseball doesn't figure out how to run a team, the longer the Oakland Athletics can make fools of them.
  8. Agreed with the others. Congrats on scoring the tickets. Win or lose, this is one of the most exciting baseball events to occur in a long time, and you'll get to see it live.
  9. Damn. The region already lost the Allentown Ambassadors last year. Without the Red Barons, the closest baseball team to me would be the New Jersey Cardinals in Sussux County. It took us 40 years to get this team.
  10. I think if the Sox lose the Series, people will still remember the ALCS the way they remember the 1951 Pennant Race (Bobby Thomson's HR). No one remembers the Giants got swept by the Yankees that year. They just remember Giants/Dodgers.
  11. Yo have to throw the HOF Standards measurements out the window for Walker. They are not adjusted for park factors, and you know the voters are taking that into account. Win Shares gives Walker about 297 shares for his career (I don't have the exact figures handy). There are alot of borderline guys at 320-330. If Walker can avoid the injury bug and put together 2-3 productive seasons, as Shadow stated, he will garner more consideration.
  12. No and yes, respectively.
  13. And yet somehow there's more intelligent posts in this thread than in 50+ pages of that thread.
  14. The A-Rod article is hilarious. How about clutch god Derek Jeter hitting .200? He escapes blame free?
  15. I find it amusing that no one took him in the Fantasy Champions competition. Ditto for Carlos Beltran.
  16. Anglesault hasn't even been at the board. And that's enough baiting him for the time being. I'm sure he'll make a prepared statement when he's ready.
  17. Fuck no. There are more insightful posts in five pages of the NLCS thread than in this thread.
  18. Unbelieveable. Just wow.
  19. True. I think its the MVPs. Posada has only finished in the top 10 once in his career.
  20. Well, only if you discount that "better teams tend to win" philosphy. Yes, I know. OMG, Pythagoras says the Yankees suck, OMG. He's been saying that for 10 years. You rang?
  21. Just for kicks... Jeff Weaver postseason 2003: 7.36 ERA Kevin Brown postseason 2004: 8.71 ERA
  22. Those who had "Joaquin Andujar" in the Kevin Brown pool may collect their money at the window.
  23. What a postseason so far. This has ceased to be a battle of talent, and now has become a battle of attrition.
  24. Live chat tonight, btw... aim:gochat?roomname=tsmbaseballchat
