We can all enjoy that wonderful clean environment when we're traveling around in our brand new 2011 horse and buggy. I care about the environment but not enough to risk the entire livelihood of the whole country just because some wackjobs want us to not kill a few polar bears and moose. "Progress as usual" hasn't put us in "this situation", its a complete reluctance by the government to allow for any expansion/improvement/upgrade to the nation's energy grid be it through oil drilling, refineries, dams, nuclear plants, coal excavation, wind turbines..etc. While simultaneously keeping us "addicted" to foreign oil when we have several alternatives in our own soil just sitting there that would not only be cheaper in production costs, but also help towards energy independence and a step towards not having as much interest in the middle east to where we feel the need to have a war there every 10 years or so. If we dont do anything to get domestic oil, it is said that at China's current pace of consumption and growth they will consume ALL of the oil the middle east produces within 10-15 years. Are we going to go to war with China for it? China is already drilling in the Gulf of Mexico (50 miles off Key West Florida in area governed by Cuba) and possibly accessing oil that is technically under United States waters. It is absolutely mind blowing that our government wont let US touch it, but they'll let China just go at it for free..

We have 3 times as much coal as Saudi Arabia has oil right now, just waiting around wondering when we're going to decide to notice it. The coal is practically standing there with a sign that says "PICK ME, I CAN BE MADE INTO GAS CHEAPER THAN YOU CAN GET IT FROM THE MIDDLE EAST NOW...I USED TO BE EXPENSIVE BUT..HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE OF OIL LATELY?!" But of course, yep..the government isn't going to allow that either. The US has to have the worst energy policy of any country in the world, its amazing. Due to the fact that we won't build new refineries here, they're building quite a few of them over in Iran and the rest of the middle east with one of the purposes being so that they can refine the crude oil there into gas and sell it to us in barrels instead of shipping us the oil letting us do that step, skipping out the middle man and making them way more money. Brazil manages to become completely energy independent through sugarcane ethanol..proving that if done right that way works. And lets not forget Russia..they're cutting taxes on Oil Companies so that they can use the extra money to find more oil for them. Least I forget to mention France and their 70% energy generation through nuclear means. The fact is, if the idiots in Washington continue on the same path as they have been for the last 30 years plus when it comes to the energy policy of this nation, its going to go flying over the cliff and crashing to the ground and there wont be anything we can do about it.

My GF is from NJ..the thing that saves the "cant pump your own gas" thing every time is "what about old/disabled people, how will they get gas?" apparently. If they drop Full Service requirement, I wonder if the price will go down about 10 cents which is the usual premium for full service at the few places I see it around here. If that happens, gas up there would be some of the cheapest in the country. Also, I paid $3.95 up in Harrisburg PA earlier for gas although I saw as high as $4.04 Also, the line in the article about Oil companies avoiding the windfall tax if they expanded refineries is a joke...theres no way the government's would let them expand/build new refineries due to all the regulation and NIMB/Enivornmental wackjobs, so thats just a stupid statement to make. And companies like Shell are already heavily invested in alternatives like Hydrogen. But again, regulation gets in the way too much there as well. Also, I think Glenn mentioned today on the radio (not his stage show) that a poll found that only 20% of people blame the oil companies for the price of gas, with more blame going to speculators, lack of conservation and *GASP* the Governments refusal to allow any domestic drilling. At some point, and soon hopefully, the government will tell the environmentalists to go screw themselves because they cant keep putting their minority interests in front of the interests of the nation as a whole.

Wow. that had better be sarcasm since my "global warming is pretty much a hoax" stance is known on here.

We dont need any regulation on carbon emissions.. I saw this article today..technology that can turn your own car's emissions into fuel using algae. Theres no money for the government in solutions the "problem" like that though. They could stick this units on coal burning plants to make fuel for cars here. No drilling for oil, no harming moose and no harmful emissions...oh wait..WERE ENSLAVING ALGAE!! Thats obviously the stance environmentalists/plant rights activists will take on this to keep it from happening.

Funny, I thing the price of a barrel of oil has doubled in the past two years..and the price of a gallon of gas has almost doubled as well. Good job Nancy! Keep up the good work! And was the plan actually enacted, or was it blocked by Seante Republicans and the Executive Branch? That's basically like someone saying they're mad they didn't save on gas after they bought a hybrid when they actually drove around everywhere in their old SUV instead. the only people doing the blocking are the Dems themselves.
-
Its not like they'll raise prices without reason. "Our costs have risen, we had to raise rates" will be the standard line. the fact that democrats are having to promise rebates to low income consumers to ease the increased cost of energy is proof enough for me that energy costs will go up. I dont know what good a rebate is going to do for someone who can afford to fillup their car to go to work though. If theres any question that energy companies want cap and trade, the fact that Enron was one of the major supporters of it and the kyoto treaty back in 1997 should settle that, since it would have made them tons of money at the time. Also, I know that I agree with Glenn Beck in that this whole "we have do something to stop global warming" disguise of a program thats main purpose is to raise money for government spending and putting the cost of that program squarely on the back of every american with a regressive tax that will hurt the average american hardest through higher energy costs and icreased gas costs. /

Luke Scott is 2 for 3 career off Roy Halladay now, with 2 HR lol "I dont know what the big deal is about Halladay" What Luke Scott must be writing in his notebook.

The carbon credits can be bought and sold on the market. Article Not only do the companies get to raise their rates to offset the cost of Cap and Trade, but they can also sell their credits at a profit as well. Of course, everyone in Washington is saying "we're gonna do this the right way, not like how Europe did it" but do you really believe that? Europe gave away most of the carbon credits to companies for free. The Energy companies were lobbying congress to give at least 50% away for free, with the others being auctioned off. Larger companies can probably buy more of those auctioned credits cheaply and then sell them to smaller companies who go over the carbon cap for a large profit.

If the Os win today they'll be 32-30 which is half of the total wins (64) las vegas had them winning this year. I am so gonna kick myself every game now for not betting the over. They're already up 1-0 on a Luke Scott HR off Halladay in his first AB vs Halladay.

I was not aware he was part of the ownership group of the Orioles.

How the hell can they not recommend Boogs BBQ at Camden Yards? I call foul. NY fans come to Camden Yards all the time and the best they come up with is the fucking boardwalk fries that are about the same as every other boardwalk fry ever? If I want damn boardwalk fries Id go to the stupid OC Boardwalk and stand in a 2 hour line for Thrashers.

Also from 2006! Funny, I thing the price of a barrel of oil has doubled in the past two years..and the price of a gallon of gas has almost doubled as well. Good job Nancy! Keep up the good work!

It got blocked this time..but just wait a year. Energy companies wouldnt have spent tons of money on lobbyists to get in on the action now if they weren't sure it was going to pass in the near future since they stand to make a lot of money off it. The EPA has already said that it would raise gas prices by a minimum of $1.50 a gallon, but hey, its the EPA so maybe they're wrong. Lets all believe the democrats when they say it wont raise gas prices, since they were so right about having a plan back in 2006 to win midterm elections lower gas prices at a time when they were in the $2.50 range...I mean we're paying $1.50 a gallon now right?..oh wait.. Cap and Trade has nothing to do with global warming anymore anyway, its just a way to fund government spending and mostly any new healthcare programs that come down the pike.

I find it funny the last ring Floyd Mayweather was in was a wrestling ring now that he's retired.

I saw a 2 Disc DVD today and it had Kimbo on the front cover. It was only 12 bucks and I was tempted but I decided against it.

Muwahaha Armando Benitez sucks 6 run 8th for the Os on 3 HRs (2 off Armando) interesting fact is that the Os score almost 40% of their runs off HRs, which is the 2nd highest % in baseball.

I got 2 HD DVRs for $200 last year and I had been a customer for like..3 years -
You also need a broadband connection since the video is downloaded over that. And with everyone capping broadband now it probably wont last very long. Its not as much of an upgrade as it is hooking the reciever up to your network via the ethernet port. Ive tried it but it is extremely slow on my 1.5 connection (which is gonna be capped at 5 fucking GB next month, thanks a lot you bastards at Sprint)

I have a voucher good for 2 tickets up to $7 each to see The Incredible Hulk. PM me if you're interested and I'll pick someone randomly to give the code to tomorrow night. It would be a good idea to check to see if you have a theatre nearby that participates with Hollywood Movie Money before PMing me or otherwise you wont be able to use em. No need to post in this thread, I just didnt feel like starting a new thread over this. Edit: Dandy won the tickets!

if theres nothing else on I'll watch the MMA stuff on HD Net or WEC on VS HD if its on. Theres been a lot of MMA on HD Net which is a product of Mark Cuban. With his money and marketing ability Id like to think whatever he does will end up being more sucessful than elite XC.
