  1. Oh this is so all going to boil down to Aceveda and whether he sides with the Strike Team or Kavinaugh. And that's totally fitting considering the way that the series started.
  2. Oh that's so fake. Look at the big 3 at the top. It was obviously cropped out from the real poster or else it would be properly alti-aliased against the black background.
  3. Man, a great trailer. Almost gives me hope for this movie. Except then I remember the following: 1)Bret Ratner's a shitty director 2)This film is INSANELY rushed due to Fox's fucking dumbass edict that it MUST come out before Bryan Singer's Superman Returns. And this isn't a comic property vs comic property thing, this is a Fox vs Bryan Singer thing. The film is apparently so rushed that they're not even having time to fix the things that Ratner wanted to fix in post. 3)From the trailer's we've seen, it looks like the major plot points (and pointless developments regarding some main characters) from the leaked script are still there. 4)"Halle Berry's Storm will have a much bigger role this time out." 'Nuff said Having said that, the 2 trailers thus far have kicked ass, so maybe they'll pull it together. Oh yeah, and Kelsey Grammar as Beast is like the best casting of all time.
  4. Ryerson kicks ass from what I hear. I have a couple friends in Broadcast Journalism there who love it. And for God's sake don't stress about 'wasting' 6 months of school. 6 months is nothing, especially if you came right out of high school. Don't let the people around make you feel like you're failing or something because if you're only 6 months into university (and right outta HS) and you already realize you don't like what you're doing, you're so fucking ahead of the game.
  5. God, it blows my mind that a show that has been as amazingly good as this one for it's 4 year run can come in at this point and actually amaze me with its quality. Season 5 just keeps getting better.
  6. Wasn't as mind-blowingly awesome as the last issue, but still pretty damn good. I'll agree that 'expository clifhanger' was a good way to describe it. I do think that Wonder Woman was a bit useless though to this issue. The fill-in art on some of the pages was kind of distracting as well, but I loved the throw backs to the old golden age visual styles they used at times. There were some awesome 'mark out' moments like seeing the Red Son Superman, and the page with all the other Earths appearing in the sky. The end with the Flash (it was Wally) coming back was great as well. But for me, the highlight of the issue was the one page shot of Golden Age Supes crushing Modern Superman with the ol' Action Comics #1 pose. That was super sweet.
  7. Sorry, I'm going to turn this into a comics nerd thread. That's such bullshit. Venom was fucking terrific until the end of ASM #375 in the SM continuity. From the start of his own series, they ruined him, but Venom was created in 1988, and Marvel was desperate to create another viable character (let's be real, the last American comic character who was big is Wolverine, created in 1974.) Venom was seriously overeposed. Past that he was written like shit, but so was every single Marvel character. Venom was never supposed to be a 'dumb muscle guy.' He was fucking crafty, and malicious. Look at his second and fourth ASM appearances. He fucks with Peter right in front of Aunt May, plays cat and mouse with SM and ALWAYS wins that game, and in general just enjoys fucking with SM without threatening his family (which is an important difference from the Osbornes) The main problem is Venom was created in 1988, overexposed from the get-go (since he was very popular), and then fell victom to terrible mid-90's Marvel writing, which affected every character. EDIT: One thing that's for sure is that Eddie Brock's origin was complete shit. They did it MUCH better in Ultimate SM, and I think that sort of motivation is what they're going with with Topher. In that regards, I say fucking go for it. Yeah, I probably should have said "what a shitty character he bacame." Marvel torched him in the 90's so badly that the character leaves a bad taste in my mouth. That's why I'd rather see a new take on the character, more of a 'mirror Spiderman' AND a 'mirror Peter Parker.' I've actually never gotten into Ultimate Spider-Man, so I don't know if that version of Venom is viable or not.
  8. Umm is this what you think will happen or do you know? Because if it is true, then thanks for spoiling something asshole. Hahahahahahhaha, you think studios actually plan 4 movies ahead? That's a good one. I think that was IGN.com's 'dream' scenario for the Spiderman series.
  9. I don't get why some people get so upset with the prospect of Topher Grace doing Venom. If they go the route where he's a guy who (somehow, symbiotic suit or not) get powers similar to Spiderman, but uses them for personal gain instead of helping others, it would make for a much more interesting story. So look at it like this: he's a nerdy kid who gets walked all over by the world and he somehow get's these awesome powers, but he doesn't have that Uncle Ben influence like Peter, so he turns out bad. Then you can have Parker thinking to himself "if I didn't have the good upbringing I did, could I have turned out like this guy?" That, I think, makes for a much more interseting story than "Big dumb muscle guy who hates Spiderman gets alien suit and goes psycho." And to be honest, I think a lot of people who have this mad love for Venom have never read the comics (probably watched the animated series) and don't realize what a shitty character he actually is.
  10. So coming up this year we have: Superman: Busiek/Pacheco Action Comics: Possibly Johns & Richard Donner/Kubert Detective Comics: Morrison/the other Kubert Batman: Dini/Morales All-Star Superman: Morrison/Quietly All-Star Batman: Miller/Lee Those are some AMAZING creative teams for DC's flagship characters (yeah I know ASB&R is....disapointing...). Problem though, Pacheco and the Kuberts are notoriously slow and have trouble keeping to deadlines, and the 2 All-Star titles have been delay magnets so far. DC claims that the Pacheco/Kuberts are getting lots of lead-in time however. Oh and from Newsarama pertaining to that JLA image: That BETTER be J'onn.
  11. WTF? That JLA image has like every former member of the Justice League on it, EXCEPT Martian Manhunter? The ONE guy who's been in every JLA incarnation.
  12. That episode was really great. They totally changed up the whole way that the viewer sees the cylons now. The last 4 episodes have been really good and had great character development, but that's the only thing they were about, character development. It was nice to get back to moving the plot forward. And boy did they move the plot forward. Is it possible that whatever's in Six's mind is the same thing that's in Baltar's?

    House

Yeah, fuck Fox for doing that. And fuck NBC for trying to kill The Office and My Name is Earl. And fuck CBS for trying to kill ALL the CSIs. And fuck ABC for trying to kill Lost and Desperate Houswives. And fuck the WB for trying to kill Smallville and Gilmore Girls. EVERY network HAS to break their show's runs at least a couple of times. Yes even their most successful ones. There's more than 22 weeks in the TV season. Exceptions are shows like 24, but then people bitch about 'FOX is teh suxorz, they're not starting 24 'till midseason!!'
  14. No I don't think Ronnie's some mastermined or anything, he's just the guy on the team who's low-key (and smart) enough to not make the mistakes that the other guys got caught for. I have no idea what this means. And yeah, that was easily one of the best episodes of the Shield, mostly due to the Claudette stuff. I really loved the moment where Dutch pushes her into finishing the guy off. You can tell that he didn't want to be pushing her, but he just knew that she was strong enough to go back and finish it off. Amazing moment.
  15. Wasn't Ray the one taken for Luthor's machine?
  16. This laptop is quite nifty - it has the wireless card, so it automatically seeks out nearby networks. Most are secured and locked, yet there is one that isn't. Out of curiosity, I clicked connect just to see if I could...and it was successful ^^ Pretty fast 'net, too. Though, I do have a few questions. In using this unsecured network, am I detectable? Could they access anything on my computer? Yup, and if you have any shared folders they'll helpfully pop up right in that person's 'My Network Places.' So disable your shares if you're ever stealing someone's connection.
  17. Worse than McCabe?
  18. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck! FUCK! Damnit this is worse than 98. Well, 98 (fucking CR) was more heartbreaking, this was jsut pathetic. I mean, with the way things have been going this time around, I wasn't expecting the best, but going out in the Quarterfinals? Come on! Those fucks needn't bother even coming home now. So you're Russian AND Chzech AND live in the US? So I'm like genetically programmed to hate you.
  19. Newsarama has a couple interviews with Frank Miller up (Part 1, Part 2, about a bunch of topics) and the more I hear about this, the more I want to read it. Miller comes across really great in those interviews. I'm also getting more and more into All Star Batman and Robin which obviously means something's wrong with me. 3 issues in and I'm sure I'll be buying the fourth even though it's just so wrong and seems tragically 'off' to me. Car crash syndrome I suppose.
  20. Ok, Lisa (the 16 year old) was fucking amazing, and Katherine was almost as good and really hot. And dear God does that Brenna chick have an amazing rack or what? I agree that she needs to start doing really slutty songs if she's going to make it. There's no way she wins though since they always go with the 'humble innocent' type (except Fantasia was 19 with a kid so you know she gives it up *shudder*) so Katherine has the best shot. And yes Hawk, I actually did have a blond girl named Heather Cox in my high school. As for the guys, I want to vote for the grey haired dude, but then there's Ace Young. And anyone with a name as wicked as Ace Young has to have my vote.
  21. No no no, see McCabe does do stuff for this team. He takes STUPID FUCKING PENALTIES when he can't handle the attackers.
  22. Yeah, I don't think there's any way that DC's gonna go with a multiverse again. I'm pretty confident that we'll be back to the universe by the end of Infinite Crisis. Maybe with the characters now actually knowing that there WAS a multiverse pre-COIE. Not remembering it or anything, just now everyone knows what the original Crisis was actually about. So as of issue 4, is there a whole multiverse, or just an alternate Earth right now?
  23. Just picked up Justice #4 and it's equally as awesome as the other issues. The JLA seems to be in one hell of a bad place by the end of this issue, and the last page with Superman was so great. The group of villian's plan is starting to come together, but they still han't really revealed what's up with the big apocalyptic dream they all had in the first issue. Or what the fuck Braniac's doing to Aquaman
  24. One year later was intended to start after IC #4. It's sort of meant to cause to suspense so that you read the OYL books and there's all these changes, and you're all "well, how did all this happen?" Then the remainder of IC has the big events that got the DCU there, and 52 fills in the missing year. So no, this isn't a fuck up on DC's part, it was always planned to go this way.
