So those were the Lost numbers on the fortune cookie at the end of tonight's episode right?
-
Yeah, same here. Although I've watched a couple of episodes of Supernatural and it looks pretty good, and after reading the latest info on what Aquaman will be about, I'm intrigued to see how it turns out. But I wasn't aware that Smallville was getting a sixth season.
-
Surprisingly UPN's average rating for this season is a .3 or so higher than WB's. Yeah, I know. I more was reffering to what I've noticed in the ratings for the last couple months. Here's a pretty interesting article on what could go down that has some insight on where the major shows stand right now.http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/...9710|1|,00.html I'd forgotten that they were doing an Aquaman series.

That was cancelled awhile before this happened. No it wasn't, it just had its episode order cut from 22 to 18 to save WB $. I had heard the WB was in really horrible shape, so this news isn't too surprising. Actually the WB has been pretty hot lately, not anywhere near the big 4, but pretty routinely beating UPN in the primetime ratings, which didn't used to happen. Shows like Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Everwood, and Supernatural have gotten much better than expected numbers for the WB this season. This merger is very interesting, and could actually change some things. The big thing here is that this new channel is getting a deal that will give them 95% coverage of the States, which is far far more than UPN or the WB had before (even if you combined them I think). And if you take the most popular shows from the two networks, you have a pretty strong primetime lineup. This channel could potentialy take a run at FOX or NBC, especially since they're going to focus on the 18-35 demographic. At least that's what I read into this. Oh and from the press release:
-
I'm not saying they would, I'm just saying that even if the unlikely situation occured where the 29 NDP votes go with the Conservatives for some reason, the Conservatives would still need votes from the Liberals or Bloc to win anything.
-
I don't know where you got 52% from, cause the Green and NDP combined only made for 21% of the popular vote. But that traslated into very few seats so your point still stands. Yes the Cons will have to get support from other parties to get anything done. They pretty much need the Bloc, because 124 (conservative) + 29 (NDP) is still shy of the 155 seats needed for a majority. And I don't think the Liberals will be voting with the Conservatives anytime soon.
-
Well, Martin just announced he won't lead the party anymore. That's too bad, he got a bum rap in my opinion and I think he could have been a great PM if given a real chance at a majority government. Even if he did run a terribe campaign.
-
Millar easily. His run on Ultimates has been so good it's not even funny. I can't imagine how Jeph Loeb writing Ultimates 3 will possibly live up to Millar's work, or why Marvel let him (or made him) leave the book. And Superman: Red Son is one of my favorite Superman stories. I havn't read much of Brubaker's stuff, but I hear he's pretty good. I despise Bendis' work these days.
-
So, ayone read issue 2 yet? If not, you need to go out and get it immediately (if it's not already all sold out). This is only 2 issues in but I'm liking it more than any Superman story in years.
-
Wow, that just made the line at the end of the episode "I'll sue you in England" even funnier.

Eventually the pendelum will swing the other direction, and people will begin favoring "realistic" over "heroic" characters once again. Put out too much of anything for too long and people will get sick of it. I don't think that they should go all the way to one-dimensional do-no-wrong heroes like there have been in the past. I just think that after Watchmen and DKR, and then the (short lived) success of the Image Comics characters, this realistic 'grim and gritty' style has gradually become the backbone of the comics universe. Watchmen was excellent and brilliant and showed how characters could be written. However, it doesn't mean that they should always be written in that style. I think that the superheroes just need to be portrayed in a manner that makes you excited to read them, but still be written in a realistic manner (in terms of their characterizations). They shouldn't be characatures of themselves like Batman's been for the past few years. And I'm not even going to touch All Star Batman and Robin. That comic is exactly the problem I'm talking about. I think Infinite Crisis 1 put it best: "Let's face it 'Superman', the last time you inspired anyone... was when you were dead."

David Duchovny to replace Bana in direct-to-DVD Hulk sequel.....
ZGangsta replied to BlackFlagg's topic in Television & Film
This was totally shot down by AICN (who orignally started this stupid rumour) yesterday. I don't know why IMDB would pick it up after the site who started it retracted. -
I picked up the collection yesterday and so far I've only reread "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" (It's such an amazing and touching read, even today) and "The Killing Joke" and read one of the Green Lantern stories. For $25 Canadian, it was sure as hell worth it. Especially since "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" is out of print.

Just got through issue 4 and yeah, it was amazing! The centerpiece of the issue was a massive fight with Superboy (both of them) that was just brutal. And Batman seems to finally be realizing that he's been becoming less and less heroic over that past years and has paid a price for that. Actually I think one of the best parts of this series was last issue where he just breaks down in the Batcave actually starts crying. He had a great scene with Nightwing in this issue as well. The part with all the Flashes was so great too. I also really liked the one page exposition that explained the orchestration behind each of the Countdown mini-series, as well as the reason for collecting all the people on the machine. Man, this series is delivering on all counts. It's totally paying off the last 2 years of buildup and hasn't disappointed yet. This Crisis isn't meant to be a huge continuity alteration, but rather an 'attitude adjustment' (as someone at DC put it) for the DCU. The conflict in this series is about the actions and attitudes of the characters, but it's also an editorial comment on how the characters have gotten continuously less heroic and inspiring over the last 20 years. And, to me, it shows that the higher ups at DC actually 'get it' as to what should make superhero comics great.

BOOOOOOO at the thought of Chloe dying, although she's been my odds on favorite of getting the dirt nap (again) since they brought the whole thing up. I'm thinking they may pull Pete in so he can get shot in a drive-by case of mistaken identity. That's a long shot though. So random it would be rather funny. Or if a letter just shows up at the Kent home and they take 10 seconds to go 'Oh no. Pete Ross died in a tragic accident. How sad' and then move on and never mention it again.

There's some new discussion about it over at Newsarama as well as a bunch of other stuff. And here's the full (non sketch) costume design. Personally I'm not a fan, especially of the mechanical spider arms. And if this is suposed to be some sort of armor, then how come his body looks like all his skin has been ripped off and you can see every muscle and ligament. Someone shouldn't look like that even if they're wearing super skin tight clothing material, much less an armor.

Why does everyone keep instisting that they 'finally' start some huge conflict with Lex and Clark. Lex Luthor is Superman's mortal enemy, not Clark Kent's. I always figured that the show would end with Luthor not on good terms with Clark or anything, but not with the two of them locked in some climactic battle.

Season 1 was pretty cool, but had some amazingly cheesy episodes and moments. I think season 2 is the best, as the show really decided what it was about. People like season 3, but I disagree. The beginning was pretty good, but by the end I was so bored of the show due to the fact that pretty much every single fucking episode Lana would invariably show up at Clark's barn and they'd have the exact same fucking conversation about 'truth' and 'honesty,' but never have any real character growth. Lana was so boring that I wanted her dead by the end of the season, and the Adam storyline was dull dull dull. Lex and his father's storyline was pretty tedious and repetitve as well. Plus Pete became so useless they had to get rid of him. Season 4 is incrediaby underated in my opinion. People are always bitching about the 'Lana's a Witch' storyine, but it really doesn't take up as much screen time as people complain about. Sure it got a bit tedious at the end, but Lana and Clark barely interacted throuout the whole season so that was a welcome break. Lionel in jail was good and Jason was actually not a bad character until the end. Plus Lois showed up and totally saved the show. Season 5 is pretty great so far, but I won't judge it yet. But the election storyline is killing me. So I'd go 2 - best 4 1 3 - worst

I don't think that's really true. Apple has been planning for this move to x86 archecture for a long time. Steve Jobs even said when they announced it that OSX had been designed from the ground up to comply with Intel's processors microcode. What's amazing about this is that they managed to keep that secret for like 5 years until the day that they announced the move to Intel cpus.

And besides weren't four of the five members of The Band Canadian? Anyways, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is easily one of my favorite songs of all time.
-
This isn't the first time I've heard this one.
-
Yeah, the show definately has the most to gain in terms of future character development if they kill Chloe. Too bad.
-
I was not a fan of that episode at all. This election storyline has GOT to go. It's boring me to tears. I mean, I just don't care one bit because it just seems so tacked on. I can't see either Lex or Pa Kent actually having any real motivation to running. It didn't really bother me until now that they actually had it be the main storyline for an episode and it just doesn't hold up. And now they dragged Lois into it, not good. Also, I swear this had to have been the episode where Clark had the least lines/screen time. However, the stuff with Clark and Lana was pretty good, and Clark and Chloe's coversation at the planet was pure gold. Awesome. I can't believe they actually went there with the whole 'sex with a human woman' thing! And Chloe's line: 'It's just that this conversation definately cements me as your Krypto-hag.' probably the best line in the whole series. So there was some good stuff, but overall I was pretty disappointed becasue of this lame sate senate storyline. Season 5 is still rocking though. As for who dies? I could actually buy anyone in the cast other than Clark, Lex, and Lois dying. Yes even Lana. They've deviated from comics continuity enough that I could see her getting offed, but she's one of the stars of the show so it probably won't happen. If they do stick with modern comics continuity then it has to be Chloe, because Lana and both of Superman's parents are alive today. I think Pa Kent's safe because they teased his death this week so they probably won't turn around and kill him after that. Maybe. So my bet's unfortunately on Chloe. It sucks becasue she's the best part of the show right now
