  1. I went back and reviewed my materials and decided that it's either "Julia" or "Happiness is a Warm Gun."
  2. Same here. There're like three or four that are in constant contention.
  3. The Obama campaign should start running this on TV

  5. Magnolia I was originally going to try to limit this to one movie per director but fuck that, this movie's way too good to just leave sitting on the table. I think what's most interesting about it is how close it really comes to just being a complete and total trainwreck. I mean, holy shit, there's a scene where all the characters stop what they're doing to sing along with an Aimee Mann song! And then later, just when you think it couldn't possibly push any farther into the realm of the ridiculous, it starts raining frogs. This should be a laughable, embarrassing mess, but somehow it all works beautifully.
  6. The Cool Kids' The Bake Sale EP is the most purely enjoyable thing I've come across this year. It's not the "best" record I've heard in '08 (that title probably belongs to Fuck Buttons' Street Horrsing) but it could very well end up being the one I come back to most often in years to come.
  7. I wish they would have actually shown Benigni's execution on screen. That would have made the movie a lot more satisfying, I think.
  8. I don't think I "get" the Stereolab reference here. Are you saying that they're not cool? That they're another "phenomenon" you missed the boat on? Was it just a random namedrop??? Help me out here.
  9. What? No it's not. Ray Allen played like total dog shit for two and a half series and KG is notorious for coming up just a little short in big situations. I don't see how it'd be "tough" for them to have another bad game or two. Jon Barry is retarded. You might not actually be from Boston but you sure do have the "what have you done for me lately" mindset of a born and bred Masshole. You don't deserve Kevin Garnett.
  10. The Lakers would be the best team ever if games were shortened to one quarter.
  11. Oh wow pbone is a child of privilege I never would have guessed.
  12. Nashville Robert Altman's masterpiece. Also maybe the best cinematic portrait of "America" (as an idea/concept) ever. It sprawls all over the place and covers a whole lot of ground but never feels one bit over-stuffed or indulgent. The ending is one of the most moving things I've ever seen.
  13. Those Bone Thugs shoes look like something a fat dude in jean shorts and a dragon shirt would wear.
  14. It's back again for some reason. I think maybe whatever he hosted it on is acting wonky? I'm going to move it somewhere else in order to prevent this from happening again.
  15. They just weighed the evidence against the fact that he made the greatest song in the history of everything and decided that he was far too valuable to society to lock away forever. I think they made the right choice.
  16. My dad left when I was four. Thanks for opening those old wounds, suref142! Fuck you.
  17. Dennis Kucinich's name hasn't been in the papers for like three months. Dude had to do something.
  18. Working titles for this thread: "A Report on the Banality of Evil" "'Where has God gone?' he cried. 'We have killed him--you and I.'" "Mistah Kurtz--He Dead" "And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches toward Bethlehem to be born?" "Beyond the Pale"
