I think that Edge should have cut that promo the same way, only: EDGE: Lita, could you come talk to Kane? LITA: *gets off her knees and stands up into the shot* Hello, Kane. Instant uber-heel.

ECW: Is it the future brand of pro wrestling?
Slickster replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
Those people want the ECW of the 90's back. ECW under Vince would be stocked w/ WWE guys, and would most likely feature WWE "hardcore" matches. You should at least do some calisthenics before jumping to conclusions like that: you might hurt yourself. Why would WWE deliberately sabotage a moneymaking brand like ECW? If they were going to sabotage ECW, they wouldn't have given it its own PPV and brought back fan favorites to work on it, much less had Dreamer and Heyman book the entire show. They would have killed it like the WCW Invasion by putting it on free TV and had JR and Vince give ECW zero credibility. The 'ECW rules' match was crappy, like the last 'ECW rules' match between Raven/Angle. Both times they were booked by the regular WWE writers and intended to be a Cliffs Notes of how 'extreme' ECW can be. This makes the marks/casual fans who never saw ECW want to watch the show, while the more hardcore ECW fans who know better can wait for the PPV to see some classic feuds revitalized. The only way to get it to work would be...let someone like Heyman be totally in control. Vince will never do that, Except that he is doing just that for this PPV. I don't expect a new ECW to run crucifixion angles and have Kimona streaptease on cable television, but I am confident that restoring ECW as a company under WWE control would be a can't-miss financial opportunity for the WWE. -
Owen Hart, 1994. Without a doubt one of my favorite heels. Oh, and Ted DiBiase, 1988-1990.

I liked how they teased the 'exploding lightbulb' for Caretaker as an homage to the original.' That said, I think they did a good job of making a good comedy summer movie that also maintained some elements of gravitas to keep viewers from getting bored with the 'inmates outsmart guards' storyline. The McDonald's guy didn't really get over too well from where I sat. It was just too forced a product placement, unlike the use of RBK, for instance. As unrealistic as this film's premise is, I did like the elements of realism they retained in the script. Bonus points for mentioning the National Football League by name instead of BSing some fake league's name. Double bonus points for using ESPN columnists and talking heads to play themselves. Even more points for using D12 as extras. I also liked how they decided to put the game on ESPN2 during a summer afternoon instead of, say, prime-time TV like every other climactic sports-movie showdown.

ECW: Is it the future brand of pro wrestling?
Slickster replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
With the sustained enthusiasm fans have had for ECW since 2001, I think Vince sees that ECW is unlike WCW, AWA, SMW, etc. in that people still hold it in a very high regard long after its demise. How many fans have EVER chanted 'W-C-W!' or wear WCW shirts to events? How many fans fantasize about WCW's return? I think that it's obvious that the fans want ECW back. I mean, their DVD is in the top 2 of all-time WWE DVD releases. The episode of 'Byte This' that focused on ECW was the most-watched in the 6-year history of the show. The ECW reunion on the 7/9/01 RAW is still talked about as one of the best segments in the last five years. I think that if this show does well (which it is already on track to do), then I would not be surprised to see the ECW brand resurrected and given that Sunday night slot on USA. 'WWE Tonight,' my ass. -
So is it confirmed or not? TNA is mute on the subject on their site.

Not really. He just looks bad ass. I know all the smarks hate him but I actually enjoy him sometimes. He isn't that bad in the ring and his moves always look like they really hurt, he knows how to execute them well. He's been around forever, yeah that's one reason, but he also looks bad ass. His moves look good so when he comes they think: 'here comes some ass kicking'. See: this year's Rumble. JR (ominously): "Hardcore Holly hates rookies!"

ECW One Night Stand matches announced
Slickster replied to WrestlingFan4Ever's topic in The WWE Folder
Anybody who has tickets camera side and can read this: Bring a 'CANE DEWEY' sign for old time's sake. -
Corrected for accuracy. At least Heat no longer is home of Al Snow's horrible running joke he stole from MXC where he calls Jobbers that stupid name. You mean Bobby Gadouche? Its Babaganoosh (he called everyones last name that) Recipe for Baba Ganouche (a dip made with eggplant)

Except for the 'logical booking' part, I agree 100% with HeadDropMark.
-
Um, because they can make MONEY off of them?
-
Good to see them rehash Taker-DDP-Sara from 2001. By 'good,' I mean 'abominable.'

The WWE Title changed hands in 9/03, but the World Title has never changed hands on free TV.
-
No - USA Network is only giving WWE 4 hours of programming each week. 2 hours - RAW 1 hour - WWE Tonight (recap) 1 hour - ECW That's how I assume it will work. He means that Bottom Line and Afterburn will now feature matches instead of recaps.
-
I think if the ECW PPV does well, then it will be brought back.
-
Dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. Did Jeff Jarrett REALLY sing (either at IYH 1 or at Unforgiven 98)?
-
Oh, and to tie back her hair so she looks 47. Can't forget that, too. You know, they could just turn her face and dress like a normal person before Kenzo comes back and say she left him because of his lust for Torrie. Having a Diva who is not white seems to be difficult for the WWE to do for a long period of time (see Nidia, Sharmell, Gail Kim).
-
Well, to be fair all 3 just got shitkicked by Batista so they would've been nothing but cannon fodder anyway.
-
Well, I do like how they immediately set up a month of buildup in a 3-minute beatdown. Hell, Batista and HHH could stay off TV until 6/26 and the match would have just as much heat on it.
-
Quick Facts: The World Heavyweight Title has never changed hands on Raw as I remember. (Not counting HHH getting it to begin with) The last time there was an actual world title change was October 2001 with Austin-Angle (I was there!!!) Both true.

"The referee's head may be CRACKED OPEN"

X I'm not entirely sure what this means, so I'll just post this:
-
I thought Maria's head was going to explode like a Fembot's.
-
I'm not sure what this will do for him in the long run, but it sure makes for interesting television.
