  1. Well, HHH wants heat. You see, he hasn't been able to sustain any over the past 6 years and keeps on using every trick in the book to get it. HHH knows Vince is a mark for the pop, so as long as HHH gets heat he can find a reason to stay on top. Beating up on JR is some of the cheapest heat a wrestler can get. The fans at NYC knew this and didn't respond. What HHH REALLY should have done was fuck Edge and cheat on Matt Hardy.
  2. The crowd appeared to be interested from the energy given from the entrance, but since they didn't do a lot of it in their match, the crowd seemed to had lessened interest.
  3. If Christian keeps telling it like it is (the marky mark line), he'd be the most over face on the roster.
  4. For someone who isn't a wrestler, JR sure does win a lot of matches.
  5. I enjoyed their entrance. Oddly enough, very similar to Too Cool.
  6. HHH just lost to JR, btw.
  7. The Vis stuff was really uncomfortable. Very rapish. King getting fired up was the best thing he did in YEEEARS.
  8. To the regular WWE public, Cena is very cool. What you're talking about is seen by a very small portion of the fans. Eventually, more and more people will see it if his character doesn't develop, but for now Cena is over like rover. Another thing Cena and Christian have in common is frequent mic time and creating new phrases/gimmicks/etc. They keep their character fresh, which is very important. Cena used to be REALLY good at keeping his character fresh but has slowed down since becoming a face.
  9. I imagine Vince is jacked up on pain killers right now.
  10. Christian vs. Cena would be the worlds most fantastic feuding ending in an incredibly boring match, simply because both guys "get it" in terms of how to merchandise and market themselves. Christian has the hand gestures, a defined style and character, the nicknames for himself and fans, and he has someone to play off of (the best straight-man they have in Tomko - did you see that reaction to Batista/Christian?!).
  11. Getting the win over Jericho is meaningless as he has no value to the show. Maybe a squash would work where Benjamin tells Jericho that he's going to see 100% Benjamin for the first time, and it's just a total blowout. I think that would be effective. That won't happen though. The best they could do is try to steal the show, which is unlikely considering Hogan/HBK will be teaming, Benoit/Edge will be pretty graphic, and HHH will want him vs. Batista to be the most memorable thing on the show. So in other words, Benjamin is kinda fucked.
  12. If PRIDE didn't just finish a heavyweight tournament last year, and then have a middleweight tournament a year before that, and maybe if they had a hot fighter involved (like Rampage was in 2003) where there was an anticipated fight, I'd be hyped for it. I want to see the show, but I won't feel like death when I am not buying it.
  13. Don't get PRIDE 9. That's a mistake I made in haste, ignorance and youth.
  14. Here's the official line up and order for the next PRIDE show. *Kevin Randleman vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura *Dean Lister vs. Ricardo Arona *Igor Vovchanchyn vs. Yuki Kondo *Vitor Belfort vs. Alistair Overeem *Dan Henderson vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira *Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Yoon Dong Sik *Quinton Jackson vs. Mauricio Shogun Rua *Wanderlei Silva vs. Hidehiko Yoshida Gaddamn if that isn't one of the best on-paper cards I have ever seen that I am not even remotely hyped for.
  15. A lil somethin something from the Yahoo main page... Monday April 18, 2005 1:00PM PT Ultimate Fighting Bubbling up from the underground, Ultimate Fighting is pummeling the buzz with its brand of mixed martial arts competition. With boxing on the wane and the BUTT of jokes (who is the heavyweight champ right now, anyway?), UFC has stepped in to fill the void for fans of mano a mano ring action. This weekend, the UFC took over the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for UFC 52 and with a huge pay-per-view audience and a packed house, buzz emerged victorious. Searches on "Ultimate Fighting Championship" doubled Sunday, delivering a roundhouse kick to the buzz and knocking the circuit into our top 30 searches overall. Mainstream sports media neglected UFC, so fans flocked to the Net for news and information on what's poppin' in the octagon. Hot on the heels of the buzz success of reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC seems primed to continue its crossover into the mainstream. The Las Vegas card accounted for some of Sunday's largest search spikes including... UFC 52 Results (+600%) UFC Results (+569%) Chuck Liddell (+361%) Randy Couture (+274%) UFC 52 (+186%) Tapout (+138%) Ultimate Fighting (+134%) UFC.com (+132%) Mixed Martial Arts (+122%) While the circuit is still trying to shake the unsavory stigma attached from its early days of "no rules," the UFC has become proven search slugger and looks primed to keep the buzz in submission for quite some time.
  16. I just watched St. Pierre/Miller again and it was even BETTER than I remembered, LOL. It was like a Fedor/Nog match, cept quicker! Honestly, April isn't even over and there's like 5 FOTYC already. Bonnar/Griffin Fedor/Noguiera St. Pierre/Miller Hughes/Trigg Uno/Hansen And that doesn't even count the Ultimate Fighter fights (Sanchez/Koscheck!) or some of the PRIDE fights that I haven't gotten around to watching. And we will certainly get something out of the next PRIDE Tournament show.
  17. I just finished a night school class that had a woman who not only looked like Sun, but was actually hotter. I propose a PICTURE BATTEL, to pass the time between episodes. An incentive...
  18. It's already listed to be on PPV. Has been for a month.
  19. ...and have them all wrestle the WWE style.
  20. It might do well, not among the ECW hardcores because they would know a sheep in wolf clothing, but among the WWE fans who never really were a part of ECW but know the names and like the idea of ECW.
  21. He did it against Trigg in their first fight, but this time he came down a lot harder. He couldn't do that to St. Pierre though
  22. I remember having a discussion a few years ago about the practicality of HBK's kip up, and how it would never work in an MMA fight. Rudo 1, World 0.
  23. - From DA MELTZ. Miller did a fucking kip-up, that alone makes it amazing. And I think people are over-stating the one-sidedness of it. Was St. Pierre in any real trouble? Not really. Did Miller just lay down and die? Fuck no. It was competitive to the point where anything could happen and there were a ton of fun sequences.
  24. The Austin heel turn created a series of events which can ultimately be described as the downfall of the WWE. It was such poor judgement to turn Austin at that time (and in Texas!), and it really showed how out-of-touch the WWE was, even after the incredible build. Then to team him with HHH and Vince McMahon was a total "They're doing this just to do it, there's no other reason" kinda thing. It was a WCW move, which was fitting since Vince had just purchased them. However, I think the XFL failure probably hurt the company more than anything. The combination of the two was just devastating and they couldn't recover.
  25. The Rock/Lesnar feud was so good, that I'd say the storyline and match got Lesnar over more than the rub from "beating the Rock". I loved the way they presented it with the two training in such different styles, and how Rock was so good in putting Lesnar over in the match, wondering what he had to do to beat Lesnar. What Rock did with Lesnar was the total opposite of what HHH does, since you never see the Rock act that way against anyone else which is what made it special. HHH does it all the time, so it's meaningless. Rock was gone from the WWE afterwards and Lesnar moved on; Rock wasn't MEing the next show whereas Lesnar was curtain jerking.
