Truth be told I've found Rey to be a somewhat irritating little bastard on and off for the past 8 years or so. I first started disliking him around the time he was doing the Giant Killer gimmick in WCW and he lost his mask to Nash. Then he started emulating X-Pac WAY too much for his own good, doing the Bronco Buster and that sort of crap. Wore horns on his head. Thankfully his 2002-2004 WWE work erased that wretched last 2 years of his WCW career. But then sometime in 2005 I started disliking Rey again, during the Eddie feud. First off I found it idiotic that he kept beating Eddie every single time, and second I wondered what sort of creep would put his son in a wrestling angle, one that even called into question the kid's real father. Then of course came the late 2005 and 2006 trash with Rey constantly exploiting Eddie's name to get himself over. And yes I know WWE was booking it, but Rey went along with that bullshit. Then he feuded with Chavo and they had the unmitigated gall to have Chavo be the heel in it for rightly calling Rey out on his Eddie exploitation. I think that pretty much sums up why a lot of people have no use for Rey at this point.

Oh and having seen Lock, Stock now I can safely say it's nowhere near as good as Snatch. Just too many gangs and pointless characters to keep track of in it.

If TNA knew what the fuck they were doing they could sign RVD and make actual money off it. I've laid out the premise before that Joe should win the TNA title, then RVD wins the X belt. Keep them apart for the entire year of 2008 aside from the occasional nod backstage. Then eventually set up an angle with two juggernaut champions for BFG 2008 and watch it get TNA's best buyrate ever and largest gate too. Jericho wouldn't work as well since no one has ever bought him as some unstoppable guy who could hold a belt for a year or anything. Lesnar might work as unstoppable, but unlike RVD he has no real fanbase that gives a shit about him. Just a WWE creation with no real long term connection with fans.

WWE General Discussion for August 2007

I don't care much for UT going into WM with the title. I'd rather Edge do something sneaky to get it and then face UT at WM. There is no possible reason to keep the belt on Khali until Survivor Series. -
I'm amused that the Yankees actually have a guy named Joba. The Cubs going to the World Series? Ha! I would be shocked if they held off a resurgent St. Louis to win the division. Cubs have to play 4 in STL in Sept. and the other teams on each team's schedule are pretty "eh." Cardinals might have a slightly tougher schedule with the Phillies and D'Backs upcoming, but not that much tougher. As far as the Brewers go, I think they are done.

Man I sincerely hope you are wrong about that BFG scenario. Jeff Jarrett winning the title from Angle with a Lesnar run in. Can we put TNA out of its misery if that happens?
-
Yeah MVP and Matt holding the tag belts is really interesting. I like that they are moving MVP out of being a total heel and adding some depth to him beyond cocky punk heel.

Yay, this month has some really good stuff in the TV show area. WCCW should be awesome with Flair vs. Kerry at long last. And we finally get Raw is War. The Big Ones sound a bit weaker than usual. Next month let's get some Halloween Havoc shows. I have never seen Havoc 93 before. -
My brother's theory on Angle is this: Angle is a heel that thinks he is a tweener. By that Angle goes around trying to do this shades of gray Russo type character with his own agenda, but really most of his actions are heelish.

Okay can we now please have Punk vs. Morrison be some sort of special stipulation match? Cause they have to shake it up a bit.
-
If they actually go with Khali vs. Rey at Unforgiven along with Batista vs. Finlay then what the hell was the point of that SS booking? If there wasn't going to be a Khali/Batista rematch then just job Batista there. Considering Khali crushed Rey last year when Rey had the belt, why should anyone want to see that match again?

How did the Death of WCW not cover that horrible Piper crap with him beating up his army of jobbers? That's seriously as bad as anything Russo did in 2000 era WCW. -
I don't think Cena will main event that PPV. I think it'll be him vs. Batista in a "dream match" of sorts on the undercard. I agree with the main two title matches, but man considering Kennedy will have like ZERO serious heat of any kind with the title they better main event UT vs. Edge.

I think what he meant was the Starrcade 97 show since you referred to WM 13 the same year. It will take forever to get to Dec. 97. -
I seriously don't understand the treatment of Sabin/Shelley. These guys showed potential greatness as a team when they weren't technically teaming in TNA. Now that they do team they are jobbing to everyone on earth.
-
Yeah but are those 1989 and 90 PPVs actually considered NWA GAB shows? Technically Turner owned the company by then and it was drifting into WCW.

Tennessee may well lose to UK this year in Lexington. Forget about them winning the division, they could end up more like 4-4 in the SEC. U of L vs. Murray this coming week. Oh man that won't be pretty. Probably 70-0, unless it's a mercy thing for the in state school.

The OAO Thread For The Twentieth Annual SummerSlam Games

This Kennedy thing is like with Angle in 2000 where they basically jobbed the piss out of him to Big Show, UT, and HHH before main eventing him. It gives us the thought that he's a vulnerable champion that can lose at any time. I'm still calling it: Kennedy will be revealed as the bastard son on that Oct. 3 hour Raw, then Vince will be a proud dad and give him a title shot at Survivor Series. I wonder if Kennedy knows how to apply a Sharpshooter? Or at least a camel clutch so that someone can throw in the towel for Cena? Cena is like a more charismatic Bob Backlund, that face champ that isn't all that popular and the more he holds the belt the more people just stop caring. -

I'm glad someone else is baffled at this shit with John Morrison. Will someone please get Dave Lagana's head out of his ass? It's like "Okay, we're in a tough spot due to Benoit and we don't want Punk getting the belt in such a circumstance, so we'll let Johnny Nitro win. But then on the next PPV we won't just realize how fucking stupid that was, we'll just job Punk to him again clean. Don't worry, we had to since we just changed Morrison's gimmick. Now we have Punk earn yet another title shot, but we're just jobbing him AGAIN at SS." Don't they realize that there is literally nowhere to go with Morrison holding the title? ECW has no other major face to make a PPV, yet they DO have some other heels. So why the fuck in Morrison holding this belt?? If he didn't get over with one win over Punk, didn't get over after 2 wins, how is he going to get over with 3? It's not getting Morrison over and it's just burying Punk because fans don't buy Johnny F'N Nitro with a world title. Bear in mind Punk beat this guy back in March in a MITB qualifier with very little effort. How is Morrison/Nitro now sooooo much better that Punk can't figure this guy out? It's some of the stupidest booking I've seen in a while. At least with Batista he doesn't lose all of these title matches he's in. As in his opponent just gets a DQ or a countout, whatever. I ask everyone, would they seriously tell Batista to job to Booker on 3 straight PPVs last year without much interference or cheating? -
No sequel at all, please. One thing I enjoyed about this movie was that there wasn't the usual post movie epilogue saying what happened to all these people (think Fast Times and American Graffiti). We're left to wonder what exactly became of these guys. Did they remain good friends? Did they stay in touch with the girls?

Okay half of Unforgiven might be set up but who gives a shit about any of this? Cena beat Orton clean. There is no issue there now. Orton was just jobber of the month. HHH just squashed Booker really so there's hardly a rematch that needs to happen there. I can actually see Batista vs. Khali but this time it must be a Punjabi Prison match. They can get the title off Khali there without him actually even really jobbing. And Punk vs. Morrison yet again on PPV? Can we please add some stips to these rematches to differentiate them from the previous umpteen matches? As in make it an Extreme Rules match and have Punk fucking WIN THE MATCH. If they aren't ever going to book some title changes it's time to drop the monthly PPVs. Just have Clash of the Champions type shows on USA or something. At least there people won't be expecting a huge amount. This was a major PPV tonight and I feel like jack shit of note happened, as though I was blessed to see HHH and Rey return and win. As far as Cena goes, I put 2 and 2 together and realized something. The rumor is that Kennedy will be revealed as Vince's boy in October. What PPV is coming up soon after? Survivor Series, the 10 year anniversary of the Montreal Screwjob. I'm thinking Kennedy gets a title shot there, and Vince has them "ring the fucking bell" on Cena to screw him royally out of the belt. -
Impact is still a fairly tolerable show to DVR or something, but I have to wonder what I'm going to think when they get the 2 hour show. Right now it's easy to DVR it and make time for a 1 hour show. Wanna know why people are down on TNA right now? It isn't that there's zero entertainment value to be had, but it's that they are pushing the hell out of washed up WWE guys, burying their own talent (or more like just not using them as well as they could), and Russo's booking is constantly about these "OMG SWERVE" moments that aren't boring by any means but most are laughable and predictable.

I liked The Patriot quite a lot in his Global run, so I didn't mind his push at all in 1997. The guy was a quality worker. I have no idea how he would have translated to the Attitude Era in 1998 though. -
The question is however....would Vince just bury the TNA product like WCW or use their already existing TV deal and keep it running separately? Or is there another money mark like a Turner out there?

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
cabbageboy replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
That is so completely lame. This whole "Oh I didnt do them but EVERYONE now is." A lot of guys were juicing back in 1998 as well, and the ones who may not have been (Road Dog, X-Pac) were potheads anyway.
