  1. Missouri flat out cannot screw up here. Hell I don't even know if it is screwing up since OU already beat them and possibly better anyway. Either way I certainly do not want to see OSU literally back into a national title game. WVU is a 28 point favorite vs. Pitt by the way. What I wonder is this: If WVU struggles to beat Pitt and wins like about 7 points will voters put OSU in there anyway for the hell of it? WVU has to just squash the crap out of Pitt. Pitt hasn't really been squashed in most of their 7 losses, only by UConn and Virginia. Pitt may hang around for a half or so, but by the end WVU will have them by 3 TDs.

I wish the Giants would put Lorenzen in. It would be so hilarious, yet I don't think even he would throw 4 INTs for TDs in a single game. Those that watched UK when he was there know that Loreznen will be very good for most of a game, but he'll throw that ONE INT that truly wrecks the team.
  3. Jericho is someone who I don't think was used right from day one in the WWF. But then if you think on it, how exactly should he have been used? In WCW the guy was a goofball comedy heel (similar to Santino right now, though better as a wrestler), so it's a bit tougher to book him seriously. Jericho lost a major supporter when Russo left in late 1999. Rob Van Dam was used quite well in WWE from his initial run in 2001 all the way through roughly Sept. 2002. He got the big opening push out of the gate, fell off a bit once the Invasion ended, then had some really solid IC feuds with Eddie and Benoit, and looked poised to main event. I still would have put Van Dam over at KOTR 2002 and given Lesnar a slower push to the top, which might have prevented Lesnar's flame out. That said, I don't think Jericho was ever as buried as RVD was once he went to SD in 2004. It used to sicken me to watch that show and see JBL with the world title while RVD was jobbing to friggin Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree.
  4. Foley criticized Mero on a couple of levels in his book. He certainly was pissed that Mero seemed to always make more money than he was making, despite Foley being higher on the card in both WCW and WWF. Yet he also really derided Mero as a performer too, discussed a crap match Mero had with UT in 1996 (and made sure to say it wasn't UT's fault), generally badmouthed the guy's skills.
  5. You know, while I enjoyed the Flair stuff on this show tonight I have to say all of it totally trumped Jericho. There was more actual emotion on this Raw tonight and the Flair angle can really be something if they build it up and pay it off at WM. The only unfortunate aspect is that the only way it can be end is with Flair eventually losing a career match. Oh and Jericho is going to job to Orton now. The ending of Raw kinda gave that away.

I wasn't sure if I should do predictions (the illegitimate thread!) but here goes anyway. Thursday Night: Packers @ Cowboys: Favre has never, ever in the history of the world won in Dallas. This will be a great game though and thankfully Insight here has upgraded NFL Network to HD. Dallas by 4, but the Packers give them the ultimate payback in Jan. Early Sunday: Detroit @ Minnesota: I think the Lions might be toast at this point. Vikings by 6. Seattle @ Philadelphia: Philly always tends to make some half assed stand, but somehow I think they fired their shot against NE and didn't win. Seattle by 1. San Diego @ Kansas City: Brodie Croyle is...bleh. I know the Chiefs won in SD earlier but surely the Chargers won lose to them twice. SD by 7. NY Jets @ Miami: Can you feel it baby? First win of the season for the Dolphins! Miami by 3. Jacksonville @ Indianapolis: Jacksonville is the NFL's equivalent to Owen Hart, the nugget that won't go all the way down the toilet. Colts finally get back on track totally and win by 10. San Francisco @ Carolina: Panthers just look like crap lately. If Dilfer keeps it going the Niners may well win this one. SF by 3. Houston @ Tennessee: The Titans need a win badly right now, but I am hesitant to pick them. Ah well....Tenn. by 5. Atlanta @ Saint Louis: The Rams are at least playing better, even though they blew it vs. Seattle. STL by 8. Buffalo @ Washington: The jobber roll is over for the Bills. Redskins get sorta back on track and win by 7. Late Sunday: Cleveland @ Arizona: This is just one of those games where you know the Browns will find some way to fuck it up and sabotage a potentially good year. Arizona by 2. Denver @ Oakland: Denver is a perplexing team but I would think they can get by the Raiders unless they completely suck. Broncos by 6. NY Giants @ Chicago: Most baffling game of the day, and very well the worst QB matchup of the day as well. I think the Giants are in full 2nd half swoon mode, so I'll take Chicago by 7. Tampa Bay @ New Orleans: The Bucs don't really rock my world, and I just can't help but think the Saints have a run in them. Saints by 4. Sunday Night: Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh: Bengals are doing a bit better but the Steelers should still be too much at home. Pittsburgh by 9. Monday Night: Patriots @ Ravens: I'm not so sure now. The Ravens simply can't score enough to win this though, even if the D shows up. Patriots by 13.
  7. Stevie is awesome on those old ECW shows. I particularly cracked up at the one where he came out and was like "Hey do you guys like my new Winger shirt???" I too noticed that blatant shot JR took at Mero, comparing Austin wrestling him to UT wrestling Gonzalez. I was also amusing that JR said UT got great matches out of Gonzalez. If he considers some -**** matches great, so be it. I noticed in Foley's book he trashed Mero a lot too. It's weird because I used to think he was quite good during his peak years (late WCW, early WWF). He certainly wasn't anyone Austin was carrying.
  8. I am interested in maybe one match with Karen and that is of course the mixed tag with Booker and Sharmell vs. Kurt/Karen.
  9. Maybe there could be a HHH vs. Lashley match at WM? That's one that hasn't been done yet. I would say HHH vs. Batista but that is played out.
  10. Just wondering but how exactly are they going to book this Jericho vs. Orton match at Armageddon? Is Jericho simply jobbing in his first match back? Win the belt? Or some sort of goofy schmozz/DQ type deal?
  11. First off, why is everyone just assuming HHH is going to face a champ at WM? Is the notion of Jericho being buried so embedded that we assume Jericho is just jobbing to Orton and then going back to his typical 2002-05 role? I think at the very least there might be a 3 way at WM with Orton, HHH, and Jericho. I'm assuming with this that UT wins the Rumble and goes after Edge. That much makes sense. As far as ECW goes, does anyone really give a shit?
  12. If UK should somehow upset UNC after U of L screwed up against BYU and failed to even get to UNC in Vegas....ah who am I kidding?
  13. Okay, what the hell was that play call by the Eagles that resulted in the Feeley INT to Samuel? They were moving the ball and had plenty of time left (3:50), had just pounded Westbrook for a nice gain. Yet they desperately go for the TD, going after the very guy who already had an INT earlier? The Eagles had a FG in their pocket, at the worst just keep running it and run the clock down...then either score the TD or kick the FG and give the Pats no time. What if the Eagles had scored on that play? Tom Brady simply gets the ball back with 3:45 or so left and would beat them anyway.
  14. I'm just saying, that's all. What makes Georgia so special that they should be #4 and the best 2 loss team? Are they really any better than LSU, VT, BC, USC, etc.? If by some chance both Mizzou and WVU lose putting UGA in the title game is basically saying "Ah hell, we gotta put someone in here...." Is putting Kansas #4 exactly rewarding them? Chances are it won't even matter anyway. Besides that idea isn't as radical as a friend of mine who insists that Hawaii should be in the national title game if they are undefeated. Hawaii with a SOS of 106, haha.
  15. Yeah the Bret/Austin stuff was the centerpiece of that Raw along with the UT stuff. Otherwise that show was pretty forgettable stuff. The Nitro wasn't too bad there, but man these Nitros from 1997 just seem like an entire year of filler. I think I remember now why I didn't watch much of WCW that year. Oh and what is with all of this Kevin Greene crap back then? The dude seemed like he was almost on the WCW roster given all of his appearances.
  16. This is a silly argument because as noted Ron Simmons was the first black world champion, regardless of whether it was WCW or WWF. In fact I read something on Wikipedia about Bobo Brazil beating Buddy Rogers for the NWA title in the early 60s, but forfeited the belt soon after. For what it's worth when I first saw The Rock in the USWA as Flex Kavana I thought he was some sort of islander. Either a Samoan or something else Polynesian. I think that is what some people are trying to say...The Rock is part black, no one is disputing this. But he always seemed more Samoan, that aspect was pushed a bit harder in his initial vignettes (though they certainly mentioned Rocky Johnson too). Sure, he was in The Nation but let's not forget that The Nation was never a flat out black faction. The initial Nation had 3 white guys in it (Crush, PG-13) and a Puerto Rican (Savio). And Owen Hart joined the group a year later. Owen was more bizarre, since at least PG-13 were doing a rapper thug gimmick and Crush was an ex con, haha.
  17. Why not expand No Country For Old Men to more than 860 screens? I'd certainly go see it if I didn't have to drive clear across town. Might have to anyway.
  18. Well, Tennessee is the only team that could move ahead of Hawaii with a win over LSU, but that would knock LSU out of possible BCS contention anyway. So yeah it looks like Hawaii is in with a win over Washington....but just to remind everyone Washington did beat Boise St. this year by 14. I would have kept Kansas a little higher, certainly higher than a 2 loss UGA. Georgia has turned it on late this year, but 4 seems too high for a team that lost to Tennessee by 21. I would have just switched Kansas to where Missouri was last week. Thus if somehow both Mizzou and WVU both lost you'd still have OSU vs. Kansas in a battle of 11-1 teams.
  19. Dear god, that Giants game today was hilariously brutal to watch. After a while I kept thinking Coughlin needed to get Eli out of there and put in Jared Lorenzen to show the world the power of FAT. What the hell, why not take a chance with the hefty lefty? Eli's numbers at Ole Miss weren't really much better than Lorenzen's at UK.
  20. I bet Chavo ends up being Edge's lackey heel in all of this. If Chavo watched as they exploited his uncle's name ad nauseum I don't see why he would have a huge problem with this.
  21. They mostly just discussed the Sheik and Andre, their careers, some personal details. Dusty talking about Andre pissing on him in a brothel was hilarious, Patterson discussed peeking in on Andre banging some chick and discussed what a ladies man Andre was. They discussed the Sheik and how much insane heat he drew, but also some about his bad habits that led to his career downfall.
  22. WVU vs. Missouri would be a much, much better game than something like WVU vs. Ohio St. would be. It's certainly interesting and different, which is something that college football needs in a big way. I'm happy for WVU in a way but it's sort of bittersweet to see this as a U of L fan. I think last year's U of L team was better than this WVU team, but because they lost in Sept. rather than in Nov. they get a shot at the title.
  23. Know why I give McFadden the Heisman over Tebow in a very close vote? He beat LSU in Baton Rouge and Tebow didn't quite get that done. This isn't to say that Tebow won't win it next year, cause he would be a heavy favorite. Iggy, USC is #4 in your top 25? They are likely the weakest of the 2 loss teams not named Boise. And I know I've been borderline bashing USC, but I'm not really a USC hater. If I think they are really good (like 2003-05) then I will certainly give them props. But that horrific Stanford loss has to knock them below any other viable 2 loss team.
  24. Man, I've been waiting for this to come out here but once it finally arrived it's on at 3 theaters and none are particularly close to me. One is way too far to mess with (Tinseltown), one I usually don't go to all that much (Baxter Ave.) and then there's Stonybrook (which I detest but sometimes go to). In fact I did go to Stonybrook this week to see an IMAX 3D version of Beowulf and noticed No Country was on there.
  25. All I can say now is this: Missouri, don't fuck this up. And yet the Big 12 title game is where national title contenders seem to go to die. I know some goof out there will pick Pitt to upset WVU, but that would have to be one of the biggest upsets in history given what WVU has at stake. And this is Dave Wannstedt we're talking about here. Geez, someone else (Mecca) with the notion that USC could slip into the title scene. Nevermind the fact that USC would be the weakest of the 2 loss teams given their mediocre schedule and loss to a team ranked #108. Arizona St. is really the only truly good win USC has this year. Who else have they beaten? Oregon St.?
