  1. I never liked Human Clay all that much, but I will say that Creed's first album was quite good.
  2. He was likely just finishing up and jobbing, etc. If he stays around another month it might get a bit strange though.
  3. Bartlett was certainly no wrestling announcer but I have a faint memory of him getting off a few funny lines. Stuff like him ridiculing Yokozuna for having such a fat ass, while the WWF was pushing Yoko as a top star.
  4. Forget about Rob Bartlett, the early Raws otherwise from 1993 rock the universe. I'd never seen a wrestling show like it before.
  5. Who cares if The Rock shows up this week? I'd be all for him coming back if he was going to be a full time wrestler, but he's not so why are some people so adamant about him showing up at a WM and taking a spot away from someone else? I don't see the huge appeal in Rock vs. HBK personally, it's not some major dream match to most fans. Hogan vs. Austin is a match that even Austin himself has said would suck hard if it happened. The reality is that Hogan won't job to Austin and Austin won't job to Hogan, so it won't happen. It's fine to put Kelly in Playboy but please keep her away from seriously wrestling for the women's title. How on earth would she ever beat Beth Phoenix anyway, considering we've already seen Beth beat her in a 30 second squash?
  6. That is truly bizarre, the Senshi story. The guy legit quit and he won a briefcase that could in theory have a pink slip. Why not just have him be the fired guy?
  7. Yeah but how many people knew who Jannetty was last year when he helped out HBK? If they are going to show an early Raw, let them show the one from Jan. 1993 with Flair vs. Perfect. It even plays into the current Flair "win or else" storyline. Of course that show would blow away the current Raw, but what the hell.
  8. HHH vs. Batista has been done to fucking death, I have absolutely zero desire to see that. I would put Batista vs. Orton if anything, do a Raw vs. SD match there. HHH vs. Jericho as the Raw title match. Besides, there is no way HHH is losing his 4th straight WM match, much less jobbing to Batista again. I swear it seems like every year at this time there's some rumor of a WM rematch that no one cares about.
  9. Anyone have a link to the full promo that Edge and Christian lampooned hilariously on the Warrior DVD? The one about taking Hogan's plane into a nosedive.
  10. NoCalMike, what are the pre 4:20 RVD promos you speak of? The one at Barely Legal is a really good one, any others? I think the problem RVD always had in WWE with promos is that they never could write for him worth a damn. His ECW promos were hilarious stuff, unscripted, laid back, and he had guys like Fonzie and Sabu to torment. Some of those lines are gold: "The Sheik liked me better anyway." "I miss having Sabu around to watch my back, carry my bags...." "How can Rob Van Dam carry all 5 belts and his partner too?"
  11. 10 years ago? Hell, when I think Smashing Pumpkins I think of their run of Gish, Siamese Dream and Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, which is more like 1992-96. I'm not sure how they would be even associated with goth, I'd say they were more in the 1990s alt rock movement (but not exactly grunge, despite their presence on the Singles soundtrack). 10 years ago the Pumpkins were doing shit like a song on the Batman and Robin soundtrack.
  12. Why does everyone constantly harp on The Rock coming back? I'd rather him not show up at all than make some lame token appearance every 3 years. We don't need another guy like Austin showing up to bury someone. As far as Carlito goes, I don't really see all this huge potential. At best he had some fairly decent matches and showed a few aerial moves. He has no physique and thus isn't really main event material (as in not even a Bret Hart type of physique). What does he really bring to the table that TNA would want to bring him in?
  13. Hell I don't know if it requires the Patriots losing to someone else for the Colts to get back to the Super Bowl. A healthy Colts team would certainly have a real shot at winning, even if it was in New England. The Patriots this year will experience something that they haven't had to deal with before, namely being that absolute unquestioned "team to beat." That sounds odd for a team that's won 3 SBs, but were the Patriots ever exactly THE team in any of those years? Obviously in 2001 they were pretty far off the radar and certainly not a favorite. In 2003 I'd say the focus was on the Chiefs and their ultra hot start, Manning and McNair fighting over the MVP award, even the Cowboys revival under Parcells for a time. The Patriots just kinda....won games. In 2004 I don't even think the Pats were really THE unquestioned team, since the Steelers were 15-1 and had homefield and Manning was setting TD records. But this year? The Patriots are the team to beat without question, they are the story. For the first time they will have everyone gunning for them all out desperately wanting to be the team to beat them.
  14. Are Smashing Pumpkins and Daria really goths? I actually am with Jearan in thinking Emo sucks ass. I kinda wish Beavis and BUTT-head were still around so that they could play bands like 30 Seconds to Mars or whoever and mercilessly ridicule it. TNA is fun to make fun and yet I watch it as well. It's so much like WCW circa mid 2000, and I mean that in both a good way and also a very bad way.
  15. It would have at least had a degree of amusement and continuity if they had the actual fake Razor. Also, how many people watching wrestling now even know who Marty Jannetty is? Hell at least Angle got the real Sherri and Marty when doing this same thing while feuding with Michaels.
  16. It is now time for some predictions! Thursday CHI @ WAS: Hell who knows. Both of these teams are baffling. I think that the Skins will be inspired in this one though and bad Rex shows up. Redskins by 7. Sunday CAR @ JAC: Panthers are basically toast and Jacksonville usually doesn't lose to teams they can beat. Jags by 10. MIA @ BUF: Another week, another loss for the Dolphins. Buffalo by 6. SD @ TEN: I still don't buy the Chargers whatsoever. The Titans seem to have righted the ship, so I'll take Tenn. by 4. TB @ HOU: Can this nondescript Bucs team actually go 12-4? Maybe 11-5. Houston holds serve at home and wins by 3. OAK @ GB: The Packers might be in for a tough haul if Favre isn't 100%. Raiders keep it closer than expected but GB wins it by 7. DAL @ DET: If the Lions aren't finished now, they will be on Sunday once the Cowboys stomp them. Dallas by 17. NYG @ PHI: This is usually the time where the Eagles make an unwanted stand and the Giants turn in a baffling performance. Philly by 6. STL @ CIN: Bengals are the most disappointing team in the league, yet I can't help but pick them every week for some reason. Cincy by 7. ARI @ SEA: The Seahawks are very much under the radar, but if they can win out they would be 12-4 and a solid #3 seed in the NFC. Seattle by 8. MIN @ SF: Vikings are on a bitchslap roll right now (too dominant for a jobber roll). Vikings by 14. KC @ DEN: Broncos are another baffling team, but KC looks pretty much done. Denver will win this one at home by 10. PIT @ NE: Here we go. Can the Steelers pull this thing off? Eh. I can't really see anyone other than the Colts actually beating the Patriots, but this could be close. NE by 6. CLE @ NYJ: The Browns seem like that team that will tease a playoff run and then blow it. In other words Jets by 1. IND @ BAL: Ravens had their chance and they let the Patriots off the hook. Can't see them having much left for the Colts. Indy by 10. Monday NO @ ATL: The Saints might be finished after that debacle. I'll take the Falcons in a bit of an upset by 4.
  17. Oddly enough I think a Watts style promotion would be fascinating in this day and age. The problem Watts had in WCW is that he was putting forth an old school mat wrestling product that didn't appeal much to people in an era where people wanted "more sizzle with the steak" (to quote Jim Ross). The irony here is that I think Heyman took certain aspects of that approach (hard hitting wrestling, violent hardcore matches, no mats), dropped the more conservative aspects like the top rope rule, and created ECW.
  18. I have to say that I'm sick of the fakes angle. It bombed big time when Orton had Hogan's "family" on Raw and I think the Kennedy angle with the fakes tanked last night. I know it was unlikely that Kane would become Diesel again but couldn't they have at least gotten the real fake Razor Ramon?
  19. After reading that main event result and aftermath I have to wonder what the hell is going on in any of these angles. It sounds like they are doing about 5 different angles in one match (Joe/Nash tension, Styles playing peacemaker, Christian/Booker, Christian/Angle, Christian/Roode).
  20. I think we all know Vince makes himself the #1 star ever on Raw, then everone beats the shit out of him for it. And yes, I too loved the APA one night comeback. Also enjoyed Snitsky's lame ass push finally being put to an end.

    COUGHCOUGHWEEK13*

I already called Miami over NE a few pages ago, haha. Anyway this is getting downright sickening. The Ravens did about 10 different dumbass things on that last drive, including the incomprehensible timeout, letting Brady scramble for a 1st down, and the obviously bogus penalty that kept the game alive (Miami vs. OSU anyone?). My advice to the Patriots is this: Lose next week. I've seen teams play like this before and a loss is the exact thing they need right now to get refocused. The more they walk the tightrope week after week, the bigger the fall will come. Is there any doubt that the Colts will trounce the Ravens on Sunday? How could the Ravens possibly get back up for that game?

It would be hilarious if the Patriots' only loss this year was to Miami....and if that was Miami's only win. Of course there is almost zero possible chance of that happening. I realized this much watching the Colts/Jags yesterday. Jacksonville is like a vicious dog in the neighborhood that is chained to a tree. A bit intimidating if you walk by, even kinda scary if you get too close, but ultimately not all that dangerous.
  23. Actually I can name a very good Disco match: vs. Dean Malenko at Bash at the Beach 1996. Some would probably say Malenko carried him, but Disco did in fact sell like a mofo in that one. So at least he practices what he preaches.
  24. This is one of the best threads on the site since the Raw in mid 2002 where Nash tore his quad. Note that this thread also involves Nash. Can't say I'm shocked about Senshi quitting. To be honest his run in TNA this time hasn't been all that impressive, unlike his original awesome 2002-03 run when he was Lo Ki.
  25. Get this, that famous May 1993 Raw is maybe the ONLY Raw from 1993 that I missed. I had a baseball game that night and for whatever reason thought it would be over in time for wrestling. Of course the game before my team's ran long and I ended up missing the show. The next day at school I had a few people ask me if I had seen Raw, then described the wild action. While I saw the highlights on the weekend shows, I still was so frustrated at having missed it.
