  1. Actually a decent Tenay circa 1996-98 in WCW is a vastly better announcer than Michael Cole.
  2. They could just make Tazz pull double duty and call both SD and ECW. It's not that hard, is it? What is this constant Bonnie Hammer shit anyway? Look, she's not going to cancel Raw or anything, so why does WWE cater to her every whim? Why give THIS much of a shit about what she has to say? They should listen to her crap, maybe take 1 or 2 ideas out of 10, and then ignore the rest.
  3. Just wondering but are they ever going to stop with the Batista title shots? I mean ever? Why not just have Vicki ban him from any further shots? It's ironic that people talk about SD being this land of opportunity when they've had the stalest main event scene known to man.
  4. Why exactly did they release Flair right after the Rumble in 1993? I'd have kept him around through WM and have him put over Bret or someone, maybe do the Hennig match there instead of Raw. I do agree that Dusty and Flair have some pretty good matches. The Starrcade 84 match had a lame finish but I did like the 85 match. I did see the GAB 86 match years and years ago, seem to recall it being decent.
  5. It all sounds fine aside from yet another idiotic notion that someone would use the MITB the very night of WM. Let Flair save it till SummerSlam and build it up more. As far as putting the belt on Jeff, it sounds good in theory but I wonder if WWE is still gunshy about him due to his past problems.
  6. I voted for Crennel and for Billick. Billick has been a complete dolt this season and losing to the Dolphins was the last straw. Petrino inherited a truly horrid situation and didn't do much with it, but the whole Vick debacle forces me to give Petrino a slight break. Crennel is an easy pick to me, regardless of whether he started Frye for one game. Hell at least he yanked Frye and didn't try to keep a jobber in there despite him sucking (unlike Lovie Smith). Thursday PIT @ STL: Having seen the Rams in person, they really, really blow. If the Steelers lose this one, they might lose the division. Steelers by 10. Saturday DAL @ CAR: I think Dallas will lose one of the last 2, but not this one. Dallas by 7. Sunday- 1:00 KC @ DET: Oh lord, what a matchup here. I guess the Lions will get a win to break this losing streak. Lions by 12. CLE @ CIN: I just picked Romeo Crennel as coach of the year, and now I will pick against his team. It's a rivalry game and I can't seem to learn my lesson with Cincy. Bengals by 3. GB @ CHI: Kyle Orton is starting right? Green Bay won't lose to the Bears twice. Packers by 14. NYG @ BUF: Amazing that the Bills are 7-7, but the Giants need a win in this one. NYG by 4. HOU @ IND: The Colts have nothing to play for really but I don't see them resting everyone in this particular game (next week maybe). Colts by 7. PHI @ NO: The Eagles are out of it and the Saints need the win. Saints can't afford to lose here. New Orleans by 6. OAK @ JAC: People are starting to overhype the Jags once again, but they should dispatch the Raiders easy enough. Jags by 9. 4:00 ATL @ ARI: The Falcons might get the vote now for the worst team in the league. Cardinals can't possibly lose here, can they? AZ by 13. TB @ SF: Niners got a win this week, which was shocking. But I can't see them doing it again against Tampa. Bucs by 10. MIA @ NE: Miami blew the amusement of this game by winning one. Patriots will of course stomp them badly. NE by 21, then Belichick starts resting some people. BAL @ SEA: The Ravens have to be done and while I don't think much of Seattle they won't lose this one. Seahawks by 14. NYJ @ TEN: Titans still have some life so they should be ready for this one. Tenn. by 8. WAS @ MIN: Redskins are a baffling team and so are the Vikings in some ways. But the Vikings are at least on a roll right now. Minn. by 7. Monday Night Football DEN @ SD: The Broncos suck and the Chargers are on a nice roll right now. SD by 17.
  7. Given that the EC match I've heard about thus far has nothing but Raw guys in it, I have to think that UT is likely winning the Rumble. With that said I have no idea who from Raw is going to main event WM.
  8. Orton vs. ANYBODY isn't a decent WM main event, so Edge vs. UT will flat out have to carry that buyrate. And let's be honest, HHH vs. Batista? That is just so 2005.
  9. The irony of the Flair/HHH match was that a couple years ago HHH himself was kicking Flair's ass and saying how old and washed up he was. As far as JBL goes, I do like him on the mic a lot. But he was utter crap as champion, probably one of the least deserving guys to ever hold a title long term. I've seen the guy have maybe 2 good matches in his whole career, one was a fluke miracle brawl against Cena (which may be both men's career match) and the other was when Eddie cut a psycho gusher of a blade job and did the work of two men. Other than Eddie carrying him and that Cena miracle JBL has never been worth a shit. In fact I've seen him drag mediocre or bad matches out of high level workers like Benoit. Where were these alleged great JBL/Angle matches, cause I for one don't recall any. His matches as champ vs. UT and Booker were also horrid. That's like 2 or 3 good matches in a 12 year time span. Hell Test has had that many good matches.
  10. There's no way Samuel Jackson is the #1 box office draw. If anything he's been in more duds and flops than anybody. Stuff like Star Wars and Jurassic Park hardly drew money because of him. There's not really many movies that he's been the top billed star of that drew much money at all, maybe SWAT of all things. I guess you could count Pulp Fiction, A Time to Kill, and the one Die Hard, though he wasn't top billed in any of them. I like Samuel a lot too, but he's hardly a consistent draw. As far as who is currently the #1 draw (as in not all time but currently) I might have to go with Depp since the POTC movies made huge money and he was in fact a real big reason why they were big hits.
  11. Okay I am back from St. Louis where I went to the Rams/Packers game yesterday as well as then going to the St. Louis Blues hockey game afterwards. It was cool as hell...my friend's stepmom got some really awesome tickets from her boss, like 9th row at the Rams/Packers game and literally front row by the glass and ice for the Blues. The really wild thing about the Rams/Packers game was there had to be as many Green Bay fans with Favre jerseys as actual Rams fans. I was basically forced to wear a Rams shirt, but to be honest I like the Packers more (I like the Rams too, just not as much as during the Warner/Faulk era). Got to see Favre break Marino's all time record and I'm amazed at how little hype or coverage something like that has gotten. I don't recall hearing about it at all in the past week and there was also not much mentioned in the newspaper about it, maybe a small article buried on page 6.
  12. I don't really think Wade Phillips himself will cost the Cowboys in the playoffs. Having seen that Buffalo game (and the Lions game also to some degree) I know the Cowboys are capable of turning in a clunker performance. In particular Romo...he might have another 5 INT performance in him. From what I've seen this year the two most consistent teams are the Colts and Packers. Neither will have home field most likely, but I haven't really seen either team have some miracle crap to sneak out with a win like the Cowboys and Patriots.
  13. I haven't really seen much from Sapp in terms of his wrestling or fighting, but I will say I found him highly entertaining in The Longest Yard. I'd be interested in seeing him in WWE.
  14. Minnesota gave Dallas a scare a while back and they have improved a lot since that game, so I could see the Vikings beating the Cowboys in the playoffs. All it takes is Romo blowing it again. I am going to the Packers/Rams game on Sunday in STL, it will be the first NFL game I've ever been to. The first game I'll see in person and it will be Favre, baby!
  15. Yeah the Texans are a much improved team and it's a shame they had some injury problems. They also get a tough break in getting the Colts in the 2nd to last game where they will still be trying to secure the #2 seed. My thoughts on Mario Williams were a bit more complicated than thinking the Texans flat out blew it. I figured he would be a really solid pro, maybe a Pro Bowler. But to use a #1 pick on him? I don't know about that.
  16. You know, I saw a Slaughter/Hogan Desert Boot Camp match from 1991 and it had a few of the same spots as the Patterson match. I thought it was one of Hogan's best matches ever.
  17. Why is my ending stupid? I didn't have Bell doing Rambo style heroics, in fact the end result is pretty much the same. Now if I had Bell getting shot by Chigurh repeatedly and keep getting up until he killed Chigurh then that is a stupid ending. I'll put it to you this way. Films and books are two different mediums. This ending might play better in print where people could read it over and over. But it just doesn't translate to film at all. If you or I turned in a script or story for a class with that ending it would come back with comments like "Rewrite this ending, it doesn't work. It lacks an actual climax, falling action, etc."
  18. Edwin, I did actually pick up on most of what you said aside from the Mexicans also having a transponder. That I would need to look for on a 2nd viewing but I'm sure it is there. I think that ending provides a bit more of a climax and still for the most part stays true to everything.
  19. This is so bizarre. I could have sworn that PTW was dropped in Dec. 1992 and that there was no Monday wrestling for a few weeks and then Raw picked up Jan. 11. And it wasn't that I just forgot to watch, I literally thought there was no show on Monday for a while.
  20. Yeah I too was baffled as to why Shango got that countout win. I can see the HBK run in but just do it after the match since Jannetty was being primed for the IC feud. Vince made mention that Prime Time had 2 more shows to go but I could swear that they maybe did that one lame duck Dec. 28 show and then went dark for 2 weeks before they came back with Raw. Was there actually 1 PTW show in 1993, cause I don't recall it?
  21. Based on all of that though....why did the Boss even hire a complete loose cannon nutjob like Chigurh in the first place? Wells himself could have vouched for what a total lunatic psycho Chigurh is and that it might not be a good idea to hire him.
  22. Celtic Jobber, I actually used to like Global back in the day. Though maybe I didn't see the dying days when they truly sucked?
  23. Okay hold up on one thing. I was never exactly sure how Chigurh fit into the drug deal and precisely who he was working for. For instance: You know what this reminded me of (of all things)? Cruising, the notorious Pacino movie where he's after a killer that prowls gay bars. I mention it because Cruising is a movie with a really disturbing and bizarre ending that made me wonder what the hell I'd just seen.
  24. Oh hell yes. I very likely saw that Prime Time show when it aired in late 1992. I too was upset that the show was cancelled and things went dark for a couple of weeks and then Raw started. In fact when Raw first aired the only real complaint I had was that it was 1 hour instead of 2. I wanted more dammit!
  25. Eh, I'm thinking that some of these TNA fans or the ROH geeks at that signing were likely trying to goad him into an argument. I can see some of them saying stuff like "Punk, you suck! You sold out and left ROH!" Or "Hey Punk, you couldn't cut it in TNA!"
