  1. Holier than thou attitude? Wonder what that means? Here is what I don't get about the screwjob. Why didn't Bret listen to any of these guys like Vader or UT to be on the lookout? I actually agree with HHH's comments saying "We wouldn't have been that stupid." The goofiest thing you can do if you're worried about being screwed is to be put in a submission hold where the ref can call for the bell.
  2. What I am trying to figure out is why is Angle constantly paranoid about everything? Dude, it is just Scott Hall. Even if Hall turned out to be the mystery man, Angle couldn't just kick his ass? Hall has been out of his prime for nearly 10 years. The booking of Christian vs. Kaz made me wonder if Kaz might win that ladder match at the PPV. Though I can't wrap my head around Kazarian as the #1 contender.
  3. I couldn't get that link to work, but I have a feeling I know what it says anyway. I can see what they are saying to some extent, since UK's leftover roster isn't much. The front line in particular is horrendous without Randolph Morris and Ramel Bradley is playing out of position at PG with Jasper hurting. But still, losing to GARDNER-WEBB? I've said it for a while now about UK, but they need to bottom out. Under Tubby it was never going to happen because they would stay decent enough to make the tourney. Time to go 12-20, get rid of the dead wood, and let Gillispie bring in his own players.
  4. No need to worry about that, since U of L let Pat White roam straight into the endzone for a 38-31 win. Then of course fucked up the kickoff and landed at the 1. Even with a win there was no way U of L could have won the conf. At best the league record would be 5-2 and UConn would have the tiebreaker due to that bogus win. In other words UConn would have had to lose out, and while I think they could lose to Cincy and WVU, they won't lose to Syracuse.
  5. Oh and by the way TNA would have to be insane to bring Masters in. They already tried bringing in Test and how did that work out?
  6. The problem I always had with Audioslave is that the band just never meshed. It literally always sounded like Chris Cornell was guesting on a Rage Against the Machine album...the two styles just never fit. Compare it to for instance Temple of the Dog, which was basically Cornell playing with Pearl Jam. Of course those guys were all Seattle contemporaries. I used to like Veruca Salt, have American Thighs but not the 2nd album. It's quite good but I wouldn't say it's as good as Purple.
  7. This was inevitable. After the CNN piece last night WWE had to do a little bit of something to say "See, we're serious about this drug testing!" Masters was going to end up toast anyway, since he would have tested negative for a 3rd time if he had stayed.
  8. Wow. I can't believe what I saw tonight. UK has been a lame team for the past couple of years but they at least could squash jobber teams. I can't honestly think of a worse loss UK has ever had. Anyone got a more embarrassing defeat?
  9. I took it as "Hey I have done steroids but try and prove it." He might as well have gone the McGwire route and said he wasn't there to talk about the past. Dynamite Kid cracked me up with that bizarre defense of his domestic abuse: "Hey, I only stuck a gun to my wife's head....not like I was being violent."
  10. I noticed that too and wasn't sure what to think. On one hand I thought Von Erich was trying to keep in kayfabe, but maybe he could have also meant that the Von Erichs and Freebirds had some kind of backstage heat and really did almost come to blows. Kerry's interview was hilarious. Imagine him being stoned as hell and saying "Man when I meet up with Hayes and Gordy I am going to cripple both of them!" It would be like Van Dam at his most wasted saying something like that.
  11. To me something like this boils down to four different criteria: 1. Did the president run a wildly corrupt administration? 2. What was the economy like? If it was good, fine. If it was bad, did the president try hard to fix it? 3. Foreign policy (dealing with other countries, wars, etc.). 4. Domestic policy (passing important bills, dealing with critical issues). Someone like Nixon was wildly corrupt, no doubt. But he did improve relations with China, did start the Vietnam pullout and the like. So while he's probably the most corrupt he's certainly not the worst president ever. Right now Bush is a disaster in terms of his foreign policy in the Middle East and hasn't had much in the way of domestic bills passed. That said, the economy during his 2nd term hasn't been all that awful...at least not a recession or depression. I dare say in retrospect Bush Sr. was as bad or worse. The economy sucked during his regime, the first Gulf War didn't do jack shit long term, etc. The only thing he has going for him is that I don't think his administration was as corrupt as his son's. The one thing saving the likes of Buchanan and Pierce in my book is that things didn't quite go to hell while they were in office. Their lousy years set the stage for the Civil War, but there's just something a bit...bland about them. Bottom 10 definitely, but I'm not sure either is the worst. To me the worst president ever has to be Hoover. It helps to have grandparents who were alive during the Depression and could explain just how bad they hated Hoover. The guy fostered a phony, inflated economy that finally went bust and then proceeded to do jack shit to fix things. During this man's administration unemployment was at 30%! My grandpa put it this way: "Hoover wrecked this country so bad that we could have ended up embracing nazism or communism before Roosevelt started turning things around." So yeah, Bush might suck right now but at least 1/3 of the country isn't out of work.
  12. I don't totally feel the love for Trippin on a Hole in a Paper Heart. It has a decent chorus to it but the guitar work and riff kinda suck. Lady Picture Show is the best song on that album. Seven Caged Tigers is a really good one off that album too. That said, Purple is their best CD. I know some will pimp Core, but that album has about 4-5 songs that are basically filler or just mediocre. Purple has all sorts of great stuff from start to finish. I still remember buying that CD when it came out and took it to school the next day (which was the last day of school...just took a look on amazon and that CD came out June 7, 1994). Purple however was not quite the CD for me in the Summer of 1994. That would be Offspring's "Smash." I played the hell out of that.
  13. OSU loses an exhibition...MSU loses an exhibition. The Big 10 must flat out suck this year. Maybe IU can break through for the first time since about 1993. Though Memphis opened it up on Richmond late I have to say they looked pretty shitty to me. Hopefully we'll get that UK vs. Memphis title game to this tourney. That would be interesting.
  14. The 49ers were kind of a phony 7-9 last year. I took a look and they had a differential of -114 on the season, which is really horrible. They won a bunch of games that were close, and got killed a bunch of other times. The Lions had the worst record in the NFC and even they had a better differential (-93).
  15. How should Raven have been pushed to the world title in late 1998 and early 1999? The guy was hitting the skids at that point, was on a major losing streak after the Flock disbanded, etc. Now if we're talking late 1997 and early 98, then I might agree.
  16. You mean Long's jobber faction with such really black dudes like Rodney Mack (barely black) and the ultra whitebread Nowinski? Thankfully that Vicki nonsense is off the books. I don't think people really want to boo Vicki, she's too sympathetic for that.
  17. Here we go with picks for the games. STL @ NO: No way in hell are the Saints going to lose this, not the way they are playing. Saints by 17. BUF @ MIA: Call me crazy but I think Miami might get that first win here. It sounds like I'm trashing the Bills, but I can't see this team above .500. Dolphins by 3. JAC @ TEN: Is Gray or Garrard starting here? Either way I will take the Titans to win it by 6. CLE @ PIT: The Browns are a nice little story, but let's get real here. Steelers by 10. PHI @ WAS: The Eagles look flat out done, but the Redskins haven't been much better of late. I'll go with the Skins by 7. ATL @ CAR: Bleh. Panthers by 6. DEN @ KC: Chiefs are actually pretty decent at home and Denver is all kinds of bad this year. Without Elam they might be winless. Chiefs by 10. MIN @ GB: Vikings looked good stomping the Chargers, but going to Lambeau and winning? I can't see it, regardless of Peterson. Packers by 7. CIN @ BAL: Ravens utterly stunk up the joint on MNF, but they should give the Bengals a bit of payback here. The old men by 4. DET @ ARI: The Lions aren't as good on the road, so I will go with a mild upset here and say the Cardinals by 3. CHI @ OAK: The Bears need a win in the worst way and the Raiders still aren't any good. Bears by 4. DAL @ NYG: Cowboys got the better of the Giants in Dallas, but now it's time for the Giants to step it up. NYG by 3 in what should be a good one. IND @ SD: Chargers have given the Colts trouble in recent years but this is Norv Turner we're talking about here. Indy by 13. SF @ SEA: Whose idea was it to have this on MNF? Seattle by 10, the Niners are horrid.
  18. Correct me on this but doesn't that bracket mean we get UK vs. Memphis early in the season barring some shock upset? That should be interesting.
  19. Tonight's show started out dreadfully bad to the point of turning the channel during the whole idiotic opening DX skit (where HHH even admitted it was crap....if so, why do it?). It picked up decent with the Rey/Jeff tag match and then I must admit I loved the Austin/Santino stuff. Sure, it's utterly pointless to have Austin show up periodically to bury someone on the roster, but Marella is awesome on the mic. How is Umaga a team captain at Survivor Series? Who the hell thought that one up? The guy is an uncivilized savage and he's now a leader of men? And while the main event was a decent enough match I must say that I don't get the Orton/Umaga teaming. It's just basically two main heels teaming but there's no attempt at chemistry there. With Edge and Orton you had two similar guys against DX and trying to hide their homo lust by showing their raging machismo. Orton is all but an afterthought on Raw as champ, but that's to be expected.
  20. That was such fucking bullshit. I now hope they do in fact run the table and the Colts give them the ultimate payback of all time in the AFC title game. I keep hearing all these comparisons to the 1998 Vikings, after all.
  21. Iggy, to back up a bit....Notre Dame sucks this year but it was really sorta expected. They weren't ranked or anything, but it's just that they are so horrid that it's historic. Quite a few people thought U of L or Rutgers could go to the BCS. U of L has lost a bunch but at least hasn't been blown out, and can say "Well, we have a new coach that sucks." What is Rutgers' excuse? Anyway, all these scenarios are why college football blows. There's no way of quantifying who exactly is better between Oregon, LSU, OU, and so on. For what it's worth I checked out www.realtimerpi.com and LSU and 2 and Oregon was 3. LSU has the #1 SOS while Oregon is #3. If anything OSU's SOS of #22 should put them below either team. The reason no one is caring THAT much about Kansas yet is that their SOS is only #69. And really I'm not sure they can slip past both OK St. and Missouri.
  22. I said it last week but this UConn crap needs to end. And it will end in the next 2 weeks, since they have road games at Cincy and WVU. There's something amusing about the last game of the season for U of L being that Rutgers game. Have there been two bigger flops this year?
  23. That NWA show was probably the best NWA thus far on 24/7. In fact it was the first of those shows that I thought certainly surpassed the WCCW show that is also on.
  24. I don't think it will. I recall one time years ago when UK lost to an Australian team in an exhibition when they were in the top 10 and it meant nothing. Why is Michigan St. that highly ranked anyway? Besides Neitzel I'm not sure who all they really have.
  25. I'm pretty sure the Warrior/Andre feud wasn't until the later half of 1989, after Warrior had beaten Rude for the IC title. Warrior was dicking around for most of 1988 feuding with lower Heenan Family guys like Hercules and such. I thought there was a funny comment on the Warrior DVD where Heenan said Warrior wasn't grateful to Andre for putting him over. Bear in mind Andre couldn't even beat Jake Roberts circa 1989.
