You know, if the Packers simply hadn't blown it vs. the Bears a couple weeks ago they would be unbeaten right now. It's hard to explain how they are doing this since they don't really seem like a real good team when you watch. Favre has to be in the MVP conversation though.

I agree with nearly everyone here, this Jericho build is going on entirely too long. They started out with something interesting and a bit unique with the SaveUs bits, but now it's lasted so long that it's almost starting to have the opposite effect. Ah well. I did at least enjoy Jeff and Harry getting the win tonight. And Marella might be the best guy in the company right now on the mic. Every week he comes up with something different that is hilarious.

That wasn't exactly what I meant. Due to Benoit they wouldn't be likely to show those Booker matches anyway, but now that Booker and WWE have parted ways with some acrimony there's even less of a chance.

Most shocked you have ever been while watching wrestling
cabbageboy replied to Vampiro69's topic in General Wrestling
I didn't see that PPV live but I talked to a friend that saw it and his mind was blown as to how bizarre that whole UT angle was. As far as Edge at NYR, I didn't find it shocking at all. On the PPV they basically telegraph what he is going to do since he simply got himself DQed vs. Flair and had a bit with Lita saying he "had other things on his mind." -
Good grief, HHH vs. both of them again this week? Is this going to be the new version of Ric Flair booking Austin and Bradshaw vs. the NWO every week?

Yeah I have to say I am flat out sick of hearing about the Yankees. The fact that this series was a dull squash didn't help matters, since the announcers could ramble about NY due to the ponderous series itself. I actually stopped watching baseball before the 1991 playoffs, so I can't comment on that series. The recaps I've read sound thrilling, but somehow I can't put a series with the Twins winning it as the best ever. Maybe it's just that I consider both of those Twins teams sorta bullshit, as in if they didn't have home field either time due to baseball's idiotic rules there's no way they would have won either. It's really impossible to have a really interesting full playoffs at this point, since the division series round is by its very nature tedious and unnecessary. 2001 was the best series I've seen though. The NYC games in particular were just unbelievable and emotional. And to be honest, that series to me had such a perfect ending, as if to say "Yeah, we know NYC has gone through a lot with 9/11, but that doesn't just entitle the Yankees to yet another World Series." Besides, the Diamondbacks had a bunch of veteran guys on that team that I liked. Mark Grace got a ring, baby!

I had no interest in this PPV tonight. They really outta just make this a TV special or something, which may well be the plan. I'm a little surprised that Batista just beat UT clean like this. I figured that might have a bizarre or screwy finish that had Batista winning, but not exactly clean.

USC is 100% done. Finished. Not only do they have zero shot at the national title, they would need all sorts of help to even have a chance at winning the Pac 10. How could a team with 2 losses (including one to a 40 pt. underdog Stanford) play for the national title? It's not like they are a 2 loss team such as LSU from last year, that lost two very tough road games to 10-2 Auburn and 11-1 Florida.
-
Much like the Friday the 13th series they are going to beat the Saw series into the ground until nobody cares anymore. I'm at the point now where I find it hard to care, I mean part 3 didn't exactly leave room for much else from Jigsaw.

I'll go along with the Anthony Anderson stuff in Transformers. None of it was ever explained. He seems a fairly unlikely hacker to begin with, and how exactly did this hot Australian chick know him? Were they longtime friends? Did she just use him whenever something odd came up that needed a hacking expert?
-
Thing is, given Booker T.'s acrimonious split with WWE they probably won't hesitate to edit the Benoit/Booker best of 7 series off of these shows.

In all fairness it was so dark in that bizarre area that I could barely make out that Abyss' head was in a vice. Cornette did his usual yearly "Yeah I know this sucks but so and so is champion" spiel. I swear Cornette has to be the single worst authority figure in the history of wrestling. He couldn't just say something like "Look, due to that screwy finish I am holding the belt up and we'll have Angle vs. Sting at Genesis with NOBODY at ringside period."
-
I have no interest in this PPV tonight since I bet Jericho comes back tomorrow night anyway. Besides, they won't change any belts on a show where they can't 100% control stuff. At least not if it is honest.

I don't quite get why so many people think LSU is some sort of juggernaut team. Their past 3 games would certainly suggest otherwise, as they for all intents and purposes should have lost all 3. Florida and Auburn had them on the ropes in Baton Rouge (and neither team has proven to be too special this year) while they lost to friggin UK. How exactly would LSU just roll Oregon? Maybe it's just that I don't trust the whole two QB system?
-
I can't believe anyone actually mentioned USC as a national title contender after losing today. Two losses and overall a really lame schedule? Oregon is the first decent team they've played all year. Oh, and this crap with UConn has flat out got to stop. This is a team that needed a screwjob call to beat fucking TEMPLE. And then cheated blatantly with a bogus fair catch to beat U of L last week. And now when I think they are finally just going to get their asses kicked, they flat out beat USF. Am I going to be reduced to cheering for Cincy to beat these lame fucks?

U of L got a really hilarious gift win over Pitt today. Pitt had the ball and was driving in a matter of 5 plays and seemed initially to have scored to tie the game. It was reviewed and it was found that the guy was down at the 1 instead. Next play Pitt fumbles at the 1 yard line and U of L recovers it to win. And I have to admit, seeing WVU just work Rutgers today made me smile. Seeing UK get worked by Miss St. mostly made me scratch my head.

I posted this in the other thread but it might be more appropriate here: 1. UNC: Agree with this. They should have the best team returning and the guys that left aren't so critical they can't be replaced. 2. UCLA: I don't buy this for some reason. They lost Afflalo and frankly UCLA just can't score enough points to win it all. They've gotten to the FF the past two years due to never having to leave CA in the tourney. If they had to step outside the state, they might go down. 3. Memphis: They'll win a bunch of games again, and of course lose in the Elite Eight yet again. 4. Kansas: They'll be in the mix, but let's face it....is there a bigger choker team come tourney time? 5. Georgetown: Not sure why they are ahead of U of L considering they lost Jeff Green. Green was the only consistent threat they had last year, so where are all the points coming from? 6. U of L: I like that we might be a little underrated. Everyone is back and provided the usual injuries can be avoided I think we have a real shot at the FF. 7. Tennessee: If the Vols can improve a bit defensively they will be a major threat. In fact I have them in my very early FF picks. 8. Michigan State: Bleh. Sweet 16 and that's about it. At least god I hope so. 9. IU: I'd like to see IU go far this year, but for some reason I just can't see them getting farther than the Sweet 16. 10. Washington State: Ha. Probably a 2nd round upset waiting to happen, like last year. 11. Duke: Duke will be better than last year (could they be worse?). That said, this is still just a Sweet 16 team at best. 12. Marquette: I actually think Marquette will finish 2nd in the conference behind U of L. Who knows how they will fare in the tourney, since I don't really trust Tom Crean if there isn't Dwyane Wade. 13. Oregon: Eh, they'll be pretty good but not much beyond 2nd round or maybe Sweet 16. 14. Gonzaga: They lost Raivio so I dunno who will step up to lead this team. 2nd round and done. 14. Texas A & M: This is a joke right? They lost the one good player they had and their coach as well. They might be an NIT team. 16. Texas: No Durant, so I don't see them going all that far. They really didn't go all that far WITH Durant. Could be a first round upset. 17. Arizona: Probably ranked just out of habit, but I don't think this team is going much of anywhere. One and done. 18. USC: I dare say these guys might be a bit underrated, but who knows how Mayo will turn out. They may well repeat their Sweet 16 efforts. 19. Arkansas: I'm surprised this team is actually ranked. They might make the tourney, but I can't see anyone being scared. 20. Pitt: They'll be their usual boring, plodding selves. Rack up wins vs. scrubs, then struggle a bit more in conf. Sweet 16 is the glass ceiling for Pitt. 21. Stanford: I see that Brook Lopez has been suspended, which makes me hesitant to think these guys will go far. Just a slow, plodding team really, which has always hurt the Cardinal in March. 22. UK: Without Morris I have no idea who UK is going to use at center, and the guards are the same dubious Tubby era guys like Bradley and Crawford. UK will make the tourney as usual, but it might be the time they are 1 and done. 23. S. Illinois: They have Falker. They have Shaw. They have the same physical defense. Why is this team so low? Bias against the mid majors? Gonzaga is ahead of them and I think SIU would beat the crap out of the Zags. 24. NC State: I honestly have no feelings on this one way or the other. About a 6 seed, which is what this ranking would indicate. 25. Villanova: Can Reynolds flat out carry a team? I don't know. Depending on his development they could either make a surprising NCAA run or end up in the NIT.

Marella still hasn't shown me anything in the ring, but then he's mostly either been having goofy comedy matches with Ron Simmons or has been getting stomped by Umaga. That said, he has become one of the best guys on the mic in the entire company. Let's face it, you never know who will eventually carry a company. Who actually thought in 1995 that Connecticut blue blood Hunter Heart Helmsley would end up an 11 time world champion? Or that The Ringmaster would become the biggest draw in the company? Or that Justin Hawk Bradshaw might one day be WWE champion? Hell, I can't say I ever thought Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels would ever be major singles stars when they were in the Hart Foundation and the Rockers (Bret perhaps more than Shawn though).

I wouldn't have a problem with the start time if they would just cut out the crap from 8:00 to 8:30. Do the national anthem for the live crowd around 7:45 or so, then when the TV coverage starts at 8 they can just go right to the game at 8:05. As it is now the coverage starts at 8 and they just jerk off for half an hour.

Well a lot of people seem to be picking Penn St. to pull the upset on OSU, but I don't really see it. Penn St. just isn't that great this year. This reminds me of a year where OSU will run it to 11-0 going into the Michigan game and Michigan will take them out.

Steroid Dealer Brags of Relationship with Ric Flair
cabbageboy replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
WCW didn't run any house shows at all in the last few months? I wonder when they stopped, since I went to a house show in July 2000, which had a main event of Booker vs. Jarrett. There were maybe 2,000 people in a nearly 20,000 seat building. -
I've never quite understood why most Samoans in wrestling are savages. Samoa is an American island, so I would think they would be civilized. As far as Austin goes, what is this one dream match for him? The only one is Hogan, but that one isn't very likely to happen at this point. So basically Austin just shows up and stuns a young guy like MVP or Santino (in the near future). Yes it will get a pop from the crowd, but is getting a pop really worth having a washed up hasbeen beat down guys who could be the future of the company?
-
This might sound silly but what is with WWE's baffling refusal to just cut ties with Steve Austin? He can't wrestle anymore, his movie tanking showed that nobody really cares about him anymore, yet he is allowed to come back a few times a year and bury a young talent. The fact that he shows up on WWE TV likely makes some fans think he is coming back to wrestle, but he can't.

I'm now wondering if KingPK was badmouthing U of L due to that Pitino "Loserville" comment. See, "Loserville" is a not particularly witty name for Louisville that UK fans thought up. Besides, there's no bigger group of douchebags than UK fans. They would likely take pride in it too. I'll put it this way: UK die hards are so psychotic that they refuse to accept support from people who are first and foremost fans of another team. There are a lot of U of L fans that are at least casual supporters of UK (when they aren't playing U of L mind you), but UK fans ensure that this is difficult. Amusing comparison by the way with the Patriots and 1998 Vikings. I must have missed the Vikings winning the Super Bowl that year.
