I keep waiting for Vladimir to do a face turn and destroy Mike Kruel down in OVW. It's weird because they haven't even really teased it per se, but dammit they SHOULD be.
-
Oh god, Kennedy vs. Orton? That match would be like going to the 5th level of hell. Occasionally I can be amused by a heel vs. heel match, but that's certainly not one of them. Is there any video of Harry's debut online? I missed the into part and tuned back in when Carlito was coming out. I hadn't seen much from Harry in his few OVW appearances, but that was mainly him teaming either with Kofi Kingston or Teddy Hart. But hell, he already showed me more last night than Cody Rhodes has so far.
-
Yeah Vladimir Kozlov is in OVW as part of Mike Kruel's Team America stable. I've actually noticed some improvement in the guy lately.

The women's match showed what can happen when you put barely trained women in there and expect them to know how to wrestle. Hopefully Candice will be okay but for her own safety she needs a bit more training if she's going to be wrestling on TV full time. Harry Smith debuts! What was up with him being called D.H. Smith? That sounds like a novelist or something. He looked pretty decent tonight, better than he looked in OVW.

Eh, I don't think that is a big deal. There's always the term "brother" in the old Freebirds way of meaning it, as in close friends.
-
I'm guessing Lashley pressured her into not doing that storyline. And considering Edge's player rep I can't say I really blame him. Why don't they just cancel this idiotic Vicki heel turn stuff and just bring back Long? There's no possible good that can come from it.
-
Lushus, I've seen Harry Smith a few times in OVW. Trust me, right now he's nothing special. As I noted last week, you gotta love WWE with the voting. If Jeff wins they will likely job him and bury him as punishment to those who voted for him since this wrecked their plans for the PPV. Instead of, oh I dunno, thinking that maybe since Jeff won the poll maybe that means a large number of people want to see him main event.

USC's SOS right now is like 107. They have a shot to improve that a bit with Cal, Oregon, and Arizona St. coming up, but the downside is that I can't really see them winning all those. Even after that USC still isn't worth discussing as more than a Rose Bowl team, as in no BCS title game here. There will be other 1 loss teams with a better SOS and who didn't lose to a team they were favored to beat by 40.

The thing I find silly about these Red Sox fans now is that they are still shown sitting at Fenway almost in a trace with tightly gripped hands, like they are praying or something. I could sorta see that in 2004 during that intense Yankees series, but good grief people you won the World Series. It's okay to just chill the fuck out now and enjoy life. That is what Manny Ramirez was trying to say a few days ago. Note that after he said that the Red Sox just crushed the Indians into oblivion too.

I watched the WWF around that point and Sam Houston was involved in a lot of those squash matches. I don't think people fully grasp what a huge shock to the system Raw was when it debuted in Jan. 1993. Long, main event type matches on free TV. That was like heaven for wrestling fans.

It's interesting that I too consider the match at Wembley to be Bret's greatest bout. A part of me wonders though...did he feel this way because he thought it was his best actual match, or because he insists that Bulldog was wasted and he called all the spots? I've heard that before (well, the part of Bret carrying it, not Bulldog being on crack) and it struck me that it's easy to say that stuff when the other guy isn't alive to counter it.

This series reminds me so much of the 1996 NLCS with the Cardinals and Braves. STL also went up 3-1 in that series and then finally the Braves woke up and just crushed them the last 3 games with a combined score of like 33-2 or something insane. In other words, Boston wins the first 2 at home, then the Rockies win 4 in a row from there.

USC only beat Notre Dame this week. And what's disturbing is that Iggy might have had something with UCLA since they are 4-0 in the Pac 10 right now. Surely they will start dropping a few in conf. though, because a potential UCLA vs. Michigan Rose Bowl is a nightmare for the BCS. That said, I have zero clue how WVU would get any preferred treatment over USF if both are 11-1. I mean USF would kinda win the Big East since they have the same record and USF has the head to head win. There's no possible way WVU should make the BCS title game if they don't even win the conference. USF will have a hard one at UConn next week though. UConn isn't that much as a team, but man do they ever get the home cooking from the refs.

I definitely agree about this, though you have to wonder why Casey did exactly what he did at the end there. For instance: But yeah, there were some aspects to the ending I loved. I always like an ending where a guy does all this stuff, but in the end doesn't ever really get any reward for it beyond knowing what he did. Of all things it reminded me a little of Indiana Jones movies in that regard.

That's a bunch of crap about Sting. The very first show he ever main evented was the first Clash of the Champions vs. Flair. That show did a 5.1 rating and I think the main event did an 8.2 or something wild near the end. Here are some PPV buyrates from Sting's WCW work where I can say he was the main event on the show (not just sorta high on the card): Halloween Havoc 89: 1.77 HH 90: 1.33 HH 92: .90 (which was great for a miserable time period for WCW in terms of money.) Great American Bash 1990: 1.70 Starrcade 1989: 1.30 Starrcade 1990: 1.30 Starrcade 1991: 1.00 SuperBrawl 1992: .96 SuperBrawl 1998: 1.10 To me, Sting is a much bigger star than Kurt Angle. I think because of a couple of reasons people discount Sting though, namely that he never worked for the WWF and did a lot of jobs to people since he's generally been a nice guy backstage.

Even if Roode had been trying to suck up to Christian that has been a while ago and was never explored particularly. So it really came off like some guy who had maybe 5% to do with any of it did a run in.

Approaching the 10th anniversary of the...

Here is one thing I don't get: Why is Bret tossing the belt in the trash good for WCW anyway? Madusa tossing the belt in the trash is one thing, since that is a belt no one cared about. But let's say Bret shows up on Nitro, rants on the WWF, and tosses the belt in the trash. I personally think that the die hard WCW fans could care less, while the WWF fans out there would be outraged over them doing something like this and boycott WCW's shows. It would have been a much more vicious attack than the comments about Foley's title win. I think I would have been so pissed at WCW for pissing on the WWF title belt that I would have a hard time watching any of their shows. If that had happened Vince could have gone out of his way to belittle Bret Hart and ironically enough come out of the whole thing looking like the good guy. It might have hurt his ability to draw heel heat against Austin later, but not to the degree that angle doesn't work. -
Nah, Auburn has zero shot. Nobody can make a reasonable argument for them over USF for instance considering they lost at home to them. And then followed that with a horrid loss to Miss St. that virtually wrecked their credibility. I doubt LSU would lose to them at home anyway.

What are all these movies with whiny vampires? I don't recall Lugosi whining much at all in the original Dracula. Dracula's daughter though....yeah she kinda whined to that shrink.
-
Yay, I have the Havoc 89 show now on my system. Not sure when I'll watch it though. Wish they would bust out GAB 89 so I can get a good copy of that one.

I can't believe this crap. U of L was up 17-7 in the 4th and somehow manages to fuck up and blow it against UConn 21-17. It's mindnumbing because having seen UConn tonight they were total crap. I would harp on the bogus fair catch TD that UConn got but U of L got a bizarre break in the punt game as well. This season is such a joke. If Kragthorpe isn't going to be 1 and done then every assistant needs to be canned after this fiasco of a year.
-
I saw this tonight and it was pretty good. Not a **** classic like some reviewers are saying, but a *** movie. It was very good up until the following stuff started happening:
-
I'm not counting the eggs before they are hatched. Let's face it, U of L lost to Syracuse. If that is possible, a loss to UConn is certainly possible. Get ready for a 6 way tie in the Big East though if U of L wins. If UConn wins they actually would have two big games coming up against Rutgers and USF.
-
I might be the only one who actually kinda likes Black Reign, albeit in a totally ironic sort of way. Oh, and have they explained at all as to why Raven is now teaming with Mitchell to take out Abyss?

I've discussed this in other threads, but I think my favorite period of ECW was the 1998-99 period. That stuff was hardly awful and at least it was more wrestling based. One problem ECW had with the violent brawls is that if you've seen one, you've seen em all. Hell, Tommy Dreamer is a much better actual worker now than he ever was in the real ECW, since he at least wrestles now and doesn't just bash people with stop signs and such. This isn't to say that sort of mayhem doesn't have its place on the card, but it should be a lower card deal and maybe just 1 or 2 matches. When half the show is violent hardcore brawling it wears out the viewer.
