I still have a hard time believing WWE will go through with an entire "non-WWE" ppv. Since Meltzer is saying that Vince is trying to get ECW alumni not currently under WWE contract, does this mean he wants as few WWE contracted wrestlers as possible? I mean a major portion of the WWE roster were names in ECW and could contribute, but then there is the question of guys like Triple H and UT mad because allowing mid-card WWE guys, headline a WWE PPV under the ECW moniker and showcasing actual wrestling talent, might possibly make way for higher demand for them in the near future as they return to normal WWE programming.

Has anyone seen the original dutch film, The Vanishing? I have seen the remake a few times(with Kiefer Sutherland) and it is pretty good, but I heard the original is THE definition of suspense, plus the ending from what I read is a lot better and much more realistic then the Hollywood ending slapped on the remake. Who's seen it?

Nice to see folks like NoCal are having selective memory lapses in their effort to, surprise! blame it all on Bush & co. The ineptitude of the bureaucrats involved, as is indicated by the quote I pulled, had been going on for YEARS, long before Bush got in office. Please remember that the 9/11 commission wasn't too kind to the Clinton administration in its critiques either. This story just reinforces what we already knew: that 9/11 was a monumental systematic failure of numerous governmental failures. There is a huge amount of blame to be spread around. I didn't say I was blaming it all on Bush and Co, but in case you forgot, Clinton is out of office, so you can't exactly demote him anymore. What you can do is look inside the current administration and hold some folks accountable, rather then give them greater responsibility and higher status.

They were armed with box cutters. An armed air marshall would shoot them dead.

Well I wasn't trying to insult your business or anything. I was just pointing out that the small business structure differs from global billion dollar companies, and I think what Seka and Me were attacking was that structure, not yours. I wasn't saying, just trying to use an example of how the minds of the higher ups work. Right, however I am assuming you don't have a team of CEOs, shareholders, and board of trustees to answer to.

...yet Condalizza Rice got a promotion!?!

Well I wasn't trying to insult your business or anything. I was just pointing out that the small business structure differs from global billion dollar companies, and I think what Seka and Me were attacking was that structure, not yours. And honestly, it would probably better to work for you then a Target or Wal-Mart anyway.

I don't think anyone is attacking you or your business/practices. Seems fair to me, as highschool kids shouldn't be making anymore then minimum wage for jobs they shouldn't probably be keeping past highschool. There are companies though that continually increase the demands on employees, as far as the ol' "The Company comes first" type rhetoric. Incentive programs go bye-bye as the company gets bigger, and physical demand on labor workers goes up every quarter. Is it unfair or unreasonable to expect an increase in compensation as productivity numbers are raised and people are asked to give bigger commitments to the company? You can't say "oh just go get some marketable skills and everything will be ok" because that just isn't the case anymore. There will always be people needed for those manual labor jobs, and if everyone eligible was college educated with marketable skills, there would be severe shortage of quality jobs available for the demand. Not to mention these days when Corporations like the booming economies of India and China where they can pay workes even lower wages.

In most cases, no one is suggesting someone who works at McDonalds makes $10/hr. I think people are referring to multi-million/billion dollar corporations that make their money on the backs of low wage employees, and paying them a reasonable amount more has little to do with "unable to continue running shop" as it does filling the CEO's pocket. For example, when I worked at the Target warehouse, and it came time for the annual "cost of living" raise. It was shite, and people were angry, and the supervisor/company line was "well Target was not profitable this this past year" Fine, everyone shut up. Until the next day when www.yahoo.com reported that the CEO gave himself a 24.5% increase in salary.

Do you have an original thought in your body? Seriously wake the fuck up and learn something about the market. You get paid what your labor is worth. Some grunt at McDonald's isn't worth shit in the grand scheme of things so they don't get paid well. I'll even use my own business. I don't pay someone doing grunt labor much more than minimum wage because I can go find some homeless guy on the street to replace them. And people shouldn't make a career out of doing grunt work for my business either, that's just stupid. Though I will pay someone a good salary if they're worth keeping around long term. But workers are not my primary concern as a business owner. Profits and customer happiness are more important than workers. Why? Because profits directly effect me and the health of my company. What good does it do to pay every employee a ton of money if I close down and then said people are out of jobs? Go get a fucking education and get some marketable skills if you want to make money. You're an idiot if you expect anything resmebling good money from work that anyone can do. I would assume when refering to your business, you mean "small business" aka under 100 employees, correct?

I worked at a Target warehouse about three years ago, and when there was rumors of a union trying to come in, all we got from the company was these anti-union leaflets with our checks for a few weeks in a row, stating how terrible unions are and how we would all hate it so much. Needless to say I hated the job, and would continue to hate it whether a union was there or not so I quit.

As the only uneducated, uninformed and definately non-paid economist here, all I have to say regarding unions is..............

North Korea says they have Nuclear Weapons
NoCalMike replied to UZI Suicide's topic in Current Events
Well, it's a good thing we got rid of that bigger nuclear threat in Iraq.... -
I'm at work, so I don't even get to look for another 7 hours, but since it is playboy, my guess is her face looks completely different, her bush is airbrushed and she looks slightly less made out of plastic then barbie.

Our country(USA) is turning so anti-labor it isn't funny. I know there are some valid points against Unions, but to think unions are "BAD" is silly, especially when we have these global mutli-billion dollar monsters like Wal-Mart that take advantage of anything they can throw a uniform on.

What is it with these fucking rich people shows?
NoCalMike replied to Damaramu's topic in Television & Film
Ya know, I think these shows are at least 50% make believe anyway. They almost seem more about clever product placement, with the cars, the shoes, and the cell phone brands, then about the actual people. These are the types of shows that give your common everyday slob, the illusion that they can be rich one day as well, and that the first step should be buying that NOKIA cell phone, or those GUCCI hand bags, or that FORD SUV. It is such horseshit, all they are doing is advertising consumerism disguised as drama. I am sure in about five years some study or expose will come out where all these people from these shows talk about how half the stuff wasn't even theirs, and was just placed in camera shots for advertising. I mean come on, posters of Ashlee Simpson and Justin Timberlake in an 18 year old GUY's room? Half the scenes don't even make logical sense. -
Maybe Wal-Mart is afraid a union might not be too keen on locking it's workers in after hours and making them work off the clock.

Ironic that in 2005, it has to be cut down to R.

Pants so low people can see your underwear?
NoCalMike replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Current Events
I didn't think the sagging style of pants was "lewd" can we get a defintion of lewd for confirmation. Also, what about people who walk into stores in tank tops and boxers, is that ok, but wearing sagging pants OVER the boxers, is lewd? I can't believe this passed. Sounds like "Grumpy Old Men" syndrome. -
John Kerry didn't lose the election because of this imaginary push to the hard left. The fact is, Kerry at various times said "Well The war is right, but I would have done it differently" or some other form of that statement. That ALONE was the reason for his downfall. Over half of this country according to polls now feels that this Iraqi war was not worth it. John Kerry screwed over the anti-war crowd, and acted like a scared little boy when it came time to man-up and go after Bush about the war. Most everyone polled said the "War on Terrorism" was the #1 issue they voted on, and they couldn't bring themselves to vote for Kerry because he really had no policy regarding the war. Kerry didn't inspire anyone, he was soley JUST the "not Bush" candidate. Still, he pulled 48% of the vote being as weak of a candidate that he was. Kerry's entire campaign strategy was horrid. He took for granted that he was going to get the anti-war crowd, so he went out of his way not to sound anti-war. Then saying ludicrous statements like he would have still voted for the war and given the President the power to go to war and all that other nonsense.

Why our goddess hasn't been around lately...
NoCalMike replied to MARTYEWR's topic in The WWE Folder
I clicked on the thread without reading the subtitle, and though the poster might be referring to Stephanie McMahon, lol. I wonder what she is up to, and what kind of shape she is in.
