Floppy disks are garbage anyway, and not even worth the time or the struggle. Pay $30 and get a USB flash drive for your keyring. It's fast, cheap, and has a ton of storage (the cheaper ones have 128 MB). The one I have (from Dell) even works across platforms, from PC to Mac, so it's infinitely more useful than putting up with the numerous CRC errors and TOC corruptions that come with floppy disks.

Au contraire. This one's considerably funnier because it has Brock putting himself on the line and looking like a complete goober (what the hell is that dance?) while wearing the tiniest sombrero ever created. By comparison, Triple H didn't put on a throwback jersey and start dancing around like Jessica Alba in Honey last year, did he? Plus, the explanation for the booking is simple. Brock Lesnar doesn't take Eddie Guerrero seriously. He has no respect for his skills, he has no respect for his experience, and he has no respect for his culture. It's just comedic gold and comedy that actually *gasp* makes sense within an ongoing plotline. Cherish it.

Actually, the Wrestlecrap book mentions that the Necrophilia idea was actually something that Vince would joke about in the middle of booking meetings (or so says an "anonymous former WWE employee". You can decide just how trustworthy that is. And new blood, like Grisham, is always good. Especially when it means that they're replacing Ernest Miller.

It just so happens that the anti-Microsoft people are considerably louder than the pro-Microsoft people. After all, it's easier to root for an underdog than it is to campaign for a juggernaut.

What kind of error are you getting? Is it a blue screen of death-type of thing, or is it something else?

Just out of curiosity, what did you use to format your drive? Did you go through Windows or did you do "format c:" through the command prompt (DOS)?

Soulseek is a great way to get rare indie-type mp3s, though I'm not sure I'd recommend it if you were going to download, say, "Toxic." DC++ is the download program, if you find the right hubs. There's tons of hubs, tons of files, and - typically - pretty good connections. Those would be the two programs I'd recommend, but both use ports that a lot of ISPs (University LANs, in particular) have already filtered, so it's not necessarily guaranteed that you'll get an awesome downloading experience with either of them (or any of the programs listed here, for that matter). Yeah, I don't think that's really in question, considering the albums. Even Return of Saturn (which is the only No Doubt record I can even stomach) has a good share of filler in it. I find it interesting that they've got "Trapped in a Box" on there, though, since that's a reminder of the early Eric Stefani era. It's nice to see that they're being equally representative of their whole career, rather than focusing on the huge crossover successes of Rock Steady.

A lot of the hatred against Microsoft comes from MS's business practices, which range between cunning and despicable. One of the most infamous strategies that Microsoft is renowned for is Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish: Embrace - Microsoft acknowledges an important technological advancement. Extend - Microsoft begins making their own additions to said technological advancement, for the sake of "improvement." Extinguish - Once Microsoft has made enough additions to a given advancement, they can effectively claim it for themselves as a proprietary medium on the basis that it "cannot function without their improvements." An excellent example of this can be found at this article: http://weblogs.java.net/pub/wlg/550 which explains how Microsoft basically attempted to claim the internet browsing market for itself and snuff out a lot of the standards presented by the W3C. Microsoft is also notorious for pushing their own agenda while, essentially, ignoring the concerns of their customers. They can afford to do this because they've basically locked many businesses and developers into using their platform and, hence, playing their games. Windows XP is a perfect example of this, as there are tons of new features and added functionality (like actual Plug-and-Play) in the operating system, but there also happen to be a disturbing amount of security issues, many of which have existed since the first revs of Win95.

Personally, I'd like to see more financial complexity, in terms of contract negotiations with players and such. Let's get some interesting incentives and signing bonuses, new ways to get around the salary cap, even competing offers from other teams. So many times in so many franchise simulations (not just in football, but EVERYWHERE), it's you staring at a dialog, incrementing the offered salary by a small amount, pressing "offer contract", and so on and so forth.

Just as an update: Apparently, there's a version of MAME for DOS that I wasn't aware of. I haven't tried it out yet, but I imagine that you could write a batch file or something along the lines to have it boot straight into the emulator. So, if anybody's interested in trying...that may be your best shot, unfortunately. Thanks to Rant and raza for the suggestions, though.

Way back when I was a freshman in High School, I was an absolute Street Fighter Alpha nerd. I knew all the top-downs and chains, could count animation cycles, everything. Really sickening stuff. Other than that, I don't know about being a master of a given game, but I can play a mean round of Bomberman, Tetris Attack, and No Mercy.

Well, you are correct. Zero is essentially a remix of the original game, with gameplay elements from Fusion and Super Metroid added into the stages. However, this description: can work for Super Metroid as well, and that's part of the problem. Zero Mission is a fine game, but it doesn't really go anywhere that the series hasn't already gone before. I'd still recommend it in a heartbeat for Metroid fans, and it still warrants a look otherwise. It's just not as compelling as the other entries in the series, IMO.

Bingo. Jin Kazama (Tekken) Ken Masters (Street Fighter) Iori Yagami (King of Fighters) M. Bison (Street Fighter) ...what in the world is M. Bison and E. Honda doing here? Good lord. Sagat (Street Fighter) Ryu (Street Fighter) As much as I hate the Street Fighter clean sweep, it's hard to pick a character who's sole appeal lies in "me bouncy." Ky Kiske (Guilty Gear) Fucking hell. I'll pick Kiske, only because Guilty Gear is woefully under-represented. The fact that I'm voting off Rugal in the same round as E. Honda is pretty disturbing, though. Terry Bogard (Fatal Fury) I was pulling for Genjuro...but you can't really pick too many people over The Man of the SNK series.

Beat it in four hours. No, I'm not kidding. I beat it in four hours on my first run through, and that's even with my token hour of running around and blowing stuff up bastard-style that I usually have in every Metroid game. It's ridiculously short. And I'm not really keen on the "plot twist" either. It's a great game and everything, but I'd say it's probably the weakest in the series.

I'd like to believe that, but the cynic in me says it's because Cash was renowned as a "country artist" and his death was "last year." I don't want to take anything away from Zevon, who was a great artist, but I was actually quite offended that they were able to roll out special tributes for the Beatles (with Harrison dying) and Zevon, but left Cash's passing as a footnote in a highlight reel. I guess they had to make sure there was extra time for both of Beyonce's performances.

Even though Whatever and Ever Amen has the best known songs, Reinhold Messner is probably his best overall album. Not really a weak song on there at all.
