The asterisk was retarded at the time of Maris because Ford Frick (the then commish of baseball) was a huge Babe Ruth guy and it was about obtaining the record in a slightly longer season. Of Bonds, Sosa, and McGwire, if it wasn't for roids (It's obvious Bonds took them, look at how his numbers skyrocketed at an age where most numbers go down) Bonds would be the only one still in the HOF. He didn't need to roid up to get in. If it can be proved, ban them from the HOF. You can't wipe out their records, but ban them from entering the HOF.

It was CWA that Memphis was known as (also Mid-Southern not to be confused with Bill Watts' Mid-South/UWF). CWF was both Championship Wrestling of Florida or Continental Wrestling in Alabama.

But the problem is that most of those guys weren't World champions. People just can't picture or won't picture Ric Flair, a 16-time World champion, jobbing to curtain jerkers.

Or how about this...when you run into someone from HS that you just absolutely hated and they act like they're so happy to see you they're about to piss in their pants? Case in point...picking my son up this morning from Sunday school after Mass. I happen to run into a girl that was a year behind me in HS. She's married now and she's picking up her stepson. She sees me and starts talking to me and my wife as if she's been best friends our whole lives. The truth was this cunt was the best friend of a girl that I had the biggest crush on and went out with a couple of times. She screwed things up by her big mouth where one day I told the girl to go screw herself and lost her friend in the process. Her husband is not saying a word the whole time as she rambles on and on. This goes on for about 10 minutes, then I find a way to exit gracefully with my fam. After we left, my wife asks me what she was like in HS...I tell her, "She was an annoying bitch."

Some would say forgettable...some would say otherwise. But I'd have to say Stan "The Lariat" Hansen in WCW in late 1990. Although he did beat Luger for the US title and had their Texas Bullrope rematch for the belt at Starrcade '90.

I like the idea of a legends show...but they should have done something instead of the AM Raw/Smackdown review...or do something like ESPN Classic's Then/Now. Have Dusty, Pat, and Mike compare wrestling today to what it was back then. Even though it seems like two totally different animals there might be more in common than people think.

I had a roommate in college I walked in on one time and he was getting his freak on with this stripper he had picked up at the bar. He looked up at me as I walked in, I told him, "Don't mind me...just need my coat." Just walked in, grabbed my coat, and walked back out without him missing a beat.

It boils down to how wisely the money is spent. Any idiot can go out and play rotisserie league and buy the top players. But to get the players that mesh together is still the big trick. That being said...I hope the NFL doesn't do something stupid and kill what they've worked so hard to build.
-
First of all...the Redskins won't become a dynasty since Snyder spends the money but doesn't spend it wisely. He's not a football guy and needs to let football guys run the team. All he needs to do is sign the checks. What I hope won't happen is that the NFL owners won't lock out the players to get them to agree to re-upping the agreement or something like that. Strikes and lockouts don't fly well with fans anymore...I know I stopped watching the NHL after they lost an entire season (and I love hockey) and I have never, nor will I ever come back.

I'm definitely in the minority here...Leena's posting here doesn't exactly get me all hot and bothered, nor do I pine away for her. I don't get the Leena love here, folks...help me out here.

First of all...I'm paying off all my bills. Mortgage, student loans, mini-van, everything...PAID IN FULL! Then I'm buying new cars for me and the wife, and a new, larger house. There's so fucking much I could do with that money it's not even funny but that would be a start.
-
Wow. There's just nothing else to be fucking said but...wow.

Okay, let me get this straight. 1) You had numerous clean tables available to you, and you chose to pick one of the dirty ones. Then you get frustrated when they can't clean it up right away. Strike against the waitress though she probably already had customers she was dealing with at the time. 2) You hold it against the waitress that she couldn't get you another beer until the keg was replaced, despite the fact that she clearly is not the person that is going to be changing the keg. She needs to rely upon someone else to do it, but who cares? Strike against her again. 3) She starts clearing off your table, clearly gets preoccupied with something else that may have been more important at the time, then politely asks you if you need something else. What a bitch! And then, at the end of it all, you fuck her over on the tip. Let me get this straight. You make the staff take unnecessary steps to assist you, hold things against the waitress that clearly aren't her fault, gripe and bitch and moan about every little thing that tarnishes your perfect dining experience....then wonder why your experience was so bad?? Follow my advice, people. It works wonders. First of all...it's late Friday night and the place really isn't very busy. Yes, other tables were available but it is our right to sit wherever we choose. If the place is busy as hell I can see having to wait a little bit but come on. It shouldn't take 15 minutes to change a keg...period. If it is going to take that long then the waitress should come out and say, "We're having some problems with the beer you wanted...would you like something else?" The waitress did not do that...just left me hanging. If you get in the middle of something and leave once and then come back is one thing...3 or 4 times? Please. Unacceptable. Don't get me wrong...I don't expect to be babied but I expect someone to know what the hell they're doing. -
Two fights that stand out in my mind from high school...went to a Catholic high school. Junior year...the girls and boys separately go to a Catholic Youth Camp site an hour away for an all-day retreat. The girls day had no problems, when we went it was just nuts. Some guys were smoking, sneaking liquor on the bus, etc. I even led a poker game in the back of the bus. On the way back to school, two boys start fighting up near the front. The fight literally spills down the seats and off the bus as the bus driver pulled off to the side of the road and the kids just rolled down the steps onto the ground as the door opened. Not the bloodiest, not the most violent, but the timing of the fight and us leaving from the retreat where we were supposed to get closer to God was just choice. Senior year...coming in the school and going to my locker before first period. My next-door locker neighbor was a sophomore girl...GORGEOUS. She was a local model at the time and IIRC she has gone on to do modeling in Europe and Japan since. Her boyfriend is visiting for the day, he's a model from France and going to another local school as an exchange student. The three of us are talking when these two kids come up and decide they want to start shit with us since we're talking to THEIR girl. Her boyfriend isn't looking for trouble, he tries to diffuse the situation. Suddenly one of them takes a swing at him, I grab the kid swinging and slam him up against the lockers. I immediately then turn him around, put a chokehold on him and tell him that if he doesn't want to get hurt he better move his ass along to class. Suddenly, I hear behind me a WHAM! and then another WHAM! I turn around to see the model boyfriend and my locker partner (one of the starting linemen on the football team) slam the other kid and another kid who joined them apparently up against the lockers. My locker partner turns to me when the kid he slammed punches him in the back of the head. It was a glancing blow at best...and he turns around to glare at the kid. The kid turns tail and RUNS, knocking over a couple of other kids in the process to get the hell out of Dodge. I still get a chuckle to this day thinking of that kid running like a little bitch.

I'm pretty sure that was after WCW broke away from NWA. It was WCW title. And Simmons beat Vader

Several years ago some friends of mine and I went to Daytona's (basically a Hooters rip-off). We had just left a local boxing event and it was about 9 PM on a Friday night. We walk in and one of the ladies tells us to sit anywhere. Several tables clean, but we wanted a booth which was dirty. Took them about 10 minutes to clean the booth off of the previous party's plates and shit. Should have been foreshadowing to the evening of crappy service we were going to receive. Our waitress had no idea what the hell she was doing, we had to chase her down all night for every little thing. At one point I needed a beer refill and it took 15 minutes to get it, they had to change the keg. WTF? I could have changed the keg faster than that and the place wasn't even that busy. The manager was more interested in chucking peanuts at the wait-staff sitting at the bar. I tabbed him as "Magilla Gorilla" because he was a good-sized guy and was wearing a loud purple shirt and pants. Finally, we're done eating, we want our bill so we can move on to the next part of the night. Waitress comes over, clears off about half our plates and heads to the back. She comes back and forth about three or four more times...by this time we have our plates pushed all the way to the edge of the table. She comes out one last time and looks at us and says sweetly, "Did you boys need something?" I was about to go off on her, but I say, "Our check please." As she turns around, my friend mutters under his breath, "And a motherfucking clue, bitch!" As we leave a couple of people wanted to bitch to the manager. I said wouldn't be a good idea as he'd probably chuck peanuts at us too. Needless to say we made her play "Find the Tip." -
What about wrestlers that were significant in both America and Japan? You not only have American wrestlers like Harley Race, Bruiser Brody, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, and even Hulk Hogan, but those like Antonio Inoki, Jumbo Tsuruta, Great Muta, Shohei "Giant" Baba. Do you not include them for their achievements in both Japan and the US?

Great story on the one hand...it takes some serious nuts to be able to drain 3s like that. That being said...I'm playing some hard D after about the 2nd or the 3rd 3. You don't have to knock his ass onto the floor, but be playing some hard-core phone booth D. Make him smell what you ate for lunch on your breath...let's see if this kid has game. He obviously does if he hit 6 treys.

TNA is doing this right...it shows they want to be a long-term player rather than worry about the short-term. Give Christian the ball for a few months, build Joe up to be a legit World title contender. Then, if Christian is not doing the job, turn the belt back to Jarrett for a few months, turn Joe face and push him that way. If Christian is rolling along nicely, then let Joe go through the X Division, drop the belt eventually, and challenge Christian for the World title. Gives the title more credibility and a Joe reign that much more incredible.

Is it me or does it seem that the wrestling fans are like the country music fans as far as distancing themselves from the people they consider sell-outs? Faith Hill has a couple of mainstream tunes and she has to suck up to her base fans with "Mississippi Girl" so they don't think she's sold out. It sounds like the wrestling fans have turned their back on Keibler for "selling out". If she can get a bigger, better gig than the WWE, more power to her. Isn't that all what we want...a chance to make more money and better opportunity? -
Terry Funk vs. Raven Definitely at least one Raven-Dreamer or Raven-Sandman match Shane Douglas vs. Scorpio vs. Chris Jericho vs. Pitbull #2...fatal 4-way for the ECW TV title, lasted 40 minutes and also important that it was the night "The Franchise" was born in ECW when Francine turned on Pitbull and joined with Douglas. Shane vs. Taz in Jan. 99 when Taz won the ECW World title...also Taz-Sabu from Living Dangerously '99 as well.
