I'm a libertarian politically. The less government in my life, the better. I understand you have to have government in some capacity for the basics, but it seems over the last 70 years or so government gets bigger and bigger. Even less-government pundits like Reagan and the Dubya have led to the largest growth of government in these last 25 years alone. But to me the biggest problem comes to light when FCC Chairman Kevin Martin recently talked about forcing over-the-air and cable networks to clean up their programming before the government steps in and does it for them. My philosophy is simple...vote with your remote. I find something that I find objectionable, offensive, or sucks...I change the channel or turn off the TV and do something else. Simple...something everyone can do, right? This quote really floored me...Martin said, "Of course you could turn off the TV or block all the unwanted channels, but why should you have to?" This floored me because it says to me, "You shouldn't have to take personal responsibility, let us do it for you." Are we to that point in the US of A that we have to let our government decide what to watch on the boob tube and what not to watch? I've come to the conclusion that groups like the PTC and folks like the Rev. Wildmon are just plain fucking lazy. Apparently some people are so tired of having to actually police what their kids watch so they want someone else to do it for them. To them I say..."It's your kids...THEREFORE IT'S YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM TO DECIDE WHAT TO WATCH!" Yes, I know that we have parents who just throw their kids in front of the TV and it becomes the babysitter, but that's on their head, not mine. And it goes back to the personal responsibility issue, especially for those of us who are parents. We don't want to teach our kids moral values, so we shuffle them off to school and let the teachers do it for us. Unless, of course...the teacher comes down hard on your child for actually misbehaving in class. Then they want to sue the school and get the teacher fired. No one seems to want to shoulder the load anymore...we pass the buck onto someone else. Now the TV folks are supposed to be the ones to make these decisions for us? And now that some people don't like the decisions of the TV folk, they want that changed as well. I don't expect the government to raise my family, I'll do it myself. I have no problem with monitoring what my kids watch and making sure of its content. I'll teach my family what's right and wrong so when they go to school the teachers can show them reading, writing, and all the stuff needed to make it in the world. Let the government run its business, and let me handle my own. If you have a parent who can't figure it out...tough shit on them. Don't make it my problem. We've replaced the liberal nanny state from the '90s with a "conservative" nanny state today...I really don't like either option.

AWA...Colonel DeBeers vs. Derrick Dukes. If DeBeers won he would paint Dukes (black man) white. If Dukes beat DeBeers, he would paint the Apartheid savior black.

Vince is a upper-class, 60-year-old white male. He has ZERO street cred, first of all. Regardless of the use of it...the word nigger, nigga, or whatever connotation it is to be used in or spelling it has is completely ignorant. I don't care if it's Vince, 50 Cent, or my black friends using it. In fact I won't let them use it around me...if my using the word gets them angry, then there is no need for them to use the word around me. Now, what I see with Vince using this with Cena is how desperate he is to keep Cena as an anti-establishment face like Austin was. He's trying to keep that edge on Cena, to give him that street cred Vince definitely lacks and, to be honest, that Cena is sorely lacking also. Difference between Cena and Austin is that Austin's character seemed more natural, Cena strikes me as he's trying to force his Thuganomics image and it just ain't working.

How many World champs turned during their reign?
BruiserKC replied to Dandy's topic in General Wrestling
Actually...that was in 1990 at the Clash of Champions X when Sting was kicked out of the Horsemen when he refused to give up his title shot against Flair at Wrestlewar '90. -
Nebraska is ranked above Iowa...that fucking blows. This takes away all my Nebraska jokes.

A few years ago I used to work for the local ESPN Radio affiliate in Des Moines part-time...as of 3 years ago we had ESPN, Fox Sports, and Sporting News affiliates...now we're stuck with just the FSR and they all sound the same. The only host worth halfway listening to is JT the Brick. I catch Mike and Mike on ESPN News in the mornings, I want people to tell me something I didn't know what's going on. Attitude and in-your-face sports talk gets a bit boring after a while, if I want to yell I can open up a window. Jim Rome really just annoys me now...he has the same schtick he did back in 1995. It's like Letterman's running joke of the night...funny maybe the first time or two, by the time he tells it for the 100th time it's no longer even close to worth a chuckle. I got turned off when he started shilling for NASCAR and as a Hawkeye fan he rips on how Kirk Ferentz is overrated just because Ferentz won't appear on his show. Ferentz is a guy that is totally devoid of ego or anything remotely like it. Our local hosts on KXNO 1460 here are something else. The morning guy can rip on Hawkeyes for booing their QB, but he won't defend his stance the second the next caller shreds him for it. He does a backpedal that would make a basketball coach proud. The afternoon host is more listenable...Steve Deace...although he shills so much for Iowa State it's not even funny. Plus, he's a Michigan fan who went to Michigan State...talk about ironic. He doesn't grasp that there's a reason Iowa is called the Hawkeye State. I also listen to some of the other area stations...I do like Keitzman out of 810 in Kansas City and Mike North out of Chicago on 670 and I can pull those in pretty easily on my car radio. I'm a sports junkie so I might have to invest in XM so I can get my ESPN and Sporting News Radio fixes.

Best World Title Matches of All Time
BruiserKC replied to daileyxplanet's topic in General Wrestling
Good match. But a better one was the best-of-three falls one Flair and Steamboat had at Clash of Champions VI in New Orleans in '89...although Vince will never admit it per it was opposite WM 5 that day. -
Can't hate on Bob Barker...he's still pimpin' it after all these years.

DocOck...the Tony Schiavone of TSM. -
Eddie could put anyone over with the way he worked...one moment that comes to mind for me was his match at Souled Out '97 against Syxx (Waltman) for the US title in a ladder match. The PPV was horrible...I have no idea what led me to spend money to watch it, but that match was a MOTY candidate.

Benoit at this point is un-signed so far as we know. This could have major repercussions as for the future of the brand split. Especially if Benoit does not re-sign...Smackdown is in major trouble now.

I have no idea what to say here. At first I thought it was one of those bad rumors that somehow get started about a big-time wrestler passing that finds their way around the Net once every couple of months. I lower my head for the ten-bell salute to him...I really don't have anything else to say at this moment.

Morris is rolling in his grave right now.

It's obvious this post has clearly jumped the shark.

The answer to A.)...a suit and tie...or sport coat, tie, and slacks. The better dressed you are the easier to impress.

And apparently it wasn't big enough for them to actually keep those teams in L.A.
-
Why the hell is the NFL so hard-up to put a franchise in Los Angeles when in the span of about a couple of months in 1994 they lose BOTH their teams? The people of L.A. don't care one iota about having the NFL in their town.

I keep hoping that someone will put out a good wrestling game for the PC. Is that too much to ask?

Come up with real songs for TNA wrestlers to use
BruiserKC replied to Masked Man of Mystery's topic in TNA Wrestling

It makes most of their fanbase giggle. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Translated...if Vince and the gang chuckles about it in the board room it must be funny. I appreciate a good fart joke as much as the next guy but come on.

Sid in a promo before his match with Hogan at WM 8..."There's two kind of bees. There's the bee that makes honey...and THEN THERE'S YOU FATSO! THERE'S THE USED TO BE!" Ole Anderson telling Thunderbolt Patterson he's dumping him as a tag partner for his nephew Arn. "I look at Arn and I see everything that an Anderson should be...today is a free day. Tomorrow watch your back!" Gave me chills when I saw that.

At a friends' funeral years ago, his best friend wanted to use "End of the Road" by Boys II Men...that song would make it sound like they were gay lovers.

I don't care if T.O. is probably the best wide receiver in the NFL right now...he's a cancer to his team and a detriment to the game. Whether he returns or not depends on how well (or poorly) they play against the Redskins tonight. If they seem to be fine...he's done.
