  1. Ichiro does indeed have 10 games left; three at Texas starting Friday, a four game series at Oakland beginning on Monday, and the three-game homestand against Texas to close the season.
  2. Bossman (and Akeem?) eliminated Hogan at the '89 Rumble, stunning the crowd who had expected Hogan to win. The Towers and Mega-Powers feud that began in the fall of 1988, spawned the angle that led me to initially follow professional wrestling. Of course, I'm talking about the infamous tag match on the February SNME show, as well as the cage match blowoff he had with Hogan in the May SNME, which led Hogan into his new feud with Tiny "Zeus" Lister. Didn't he even take a superplex from the top of the cage from Hogan? Yes, that was Traylor's trademark spot.

  4. As far as I can recall, Traylor was in great shape from his WCW run in 1993 until his recent WWE return in 2002.
  5. I'm really trying to put words together to say how I'm feeling right now, but nothing's coming out. RIP Mr. Traylor - truly one of the few wrestlers I cheered as both a naive six-year old mark, and a stubborn teenage smark. May God be with his family and dearest friends in this time of need. EDIT: If posters could come in and reminisce on their favorite Bossman moments, that would definitely help out those who are carrying a heavy heart.
  6. CREDIT: GAMEFAQS.com message board users. JRE can put up more detailed results, at which point I'll take these down....
  7. On an additional note, the Mania password was e-mailed to everyone on the WWE mailing list who had requested "additional Wrestlemania XXI information".
  8. How does that eliminate him from being one of HHH's potential challengers?
  9. That was Steve Young. Jeff Garcia hasn't beaten the Packers. I stand corrected. I was thinking of the 1999 playoff game with Young, which doesn't seem that long ago, instead of the 2001 playoff loss with Garcia.
  10. EDIT: I'll leave it to you TSM'ers to find out the password yourselves. It's easy to find out, but I'm thinking I'll have a better chance getting ahead of 500 lazy TSM'ers, than the 75 who actually track down the password themselves. --HEAT tapings last night produced this card: Rodney Mack v. Stevie Richards Gail v. Nidia Val Venis v. Chuck Palumbo ---------------------------------------------------------------- ....and to make up for it...Meltzer's update from yesterday...
  11. According to what he said on Cold Pizza this morning, Hopkins made a promise to a dying relative(?) that he won't fight past the age of 40. With the remaining time he has left, the two opponents he's requested are Trinidad and Jones.
  12. My list, each of those that STILL give me goosebumps everytime I relive them through my DVD or tape collection... 5. Steve Austin comes home. His entrance at Wrestlemania X-7. 4. Steve Austin. Kane. WWF Title Match. The RAW after KOTR 1998. 3. Hulk Hogan and his last remaining friend...the Ultimate Warrior. Wrestlemania VIII. 2. The Slam Heard Around The World. Wrestlemania III. 1. Ric Flair's back...and so are the Horsemen. September 14th, 1998 Nitro. Honorable mentions: 1. Chris Jericho - WWF Champion. (April 2000 RAW) 2. The Rock is IN the Wrestlemania 2000 main event...with the help of a returning Vince McMahon. (March 2000 RAW) 3. HHH. The Rock. The final five minutes (Judgment Day 2000 - Ironman Match) 4. Hogan "Hulks Up". (Wrestlemania X-8) 5. Goldberg - WCW Champion. (July 6th, 1998 Nitro)
  13. You're correct on all accounts, including the retard quip. Savage no-sold all of Warrior's finishers for the false-finish at the end, too. On a side note, Hogan didn't kick out of Lesnar's F-5, nor was in a position to do so. Angle became the first guy to kick out of Lesnar's finisher at Wrestlemania XIX.
  14. I don't know if they're building to that again. The way it went down tonight, it's hard to forsee anything interesting happening with La Resistance. My scenario is a "defend against anyone" challenge at Taboo Tuesday, where they quickly job out to a new team the fans vote on. This is a GREAT way for the WWE writers to refrain from rigging the ballot box, because the fans will personally decide the team they WANT to see with the tag titles. EDIT: As for Orton, Benoit and Benjamin, I'll predict that the "odd men out" won't have a match set in stone for the PPV. When one of the three gets the title match with HHH, the other two could *probably* move down to Batista/Flair, but that tag combination has been done ad nauseum to even affect the crowd. Evolution needs another member to supplant Flair's everyday role and BAD. In Flair's new role, I'd have him doing the occasional tag and six-man, then build up to a good eight-man where all of Evolution is showcased.
  15. ..or the fact that he choked in a few big-game situations along the way. He never took a crop of solid 49er teams past the divisional championship in any of the years that he had started, a disappointment considering the lineage of the franchise quarterback. On one end, Garcia earned the respect of the Bay Area fans with the 2001 Wild Card game-winner against the Pack (in the final play, clutch throw to Owens in a SWARM of defenders). When Garcia responded again in January 2003 with the second-best comeback in NFL postseason history, a 39-38 nail-biter against the Giants, he felt that he had finally won over his staunchest critics. Yet, the next week, Garcia and Owens were collectively shut down by the eventual Super Bowl champ Buccaneers. Garcia was back to square one, and coupled with a few injuries, and the surprising play of Tim Rattay, you can see why he was run out of San Fran. In my opinion, the 49er quarterback is one of the most intimidating positions in sports right now - it's on a par with: Los Angleles Lakers center. Boston Celtics forward. Dallas Cowboys quarterback. Portland Trailblazers public relations representative. Wrong. Their running game was consistently good to above-average for the last four years, despite a mangled O-Line. When it wasn't Garrison Hearst, it was Charlie Garner. When it wasn't Garner, it was Kevan Barlow and Garrison Hearst splitting time. THAT's where the problem lied, though. Let's look at the statistics.... 2000: Garner (1142) - Barlow is drafted, Hearst rehabilitates from that major leg injury. 2001: Hearst (1206) + Barlow (512) - 1718 total. 2002: Hearst (972) + Barlow (675) - 1667 total. 2003: Hearst (768) + Barlow (1024) - 1792 total. He'd also quit on a few plays, he'd overrun or undercut the route, or he'd just let the ball sail over him. Owens wouldn't put his arms out, so when the ball looked a bit overrthrown, yet still in the vicinity of such a large receiver, he wouldn't expend the effort to get up there. Statistics show otherwise. Garcia's passing statistics on passes over 40 yards, compared to Daunte Culpepper (2nd number), Donovan McNabb (third number) and Peyton Manning (far right): 2000: 9 / 13 / 5 / 8 passes completed 2001: 10 / 5 / 9 / 11 passes completed 2002: 7 / 9 / 3 / 11 passes completed 2003: 6 / 10 / 9 / 9 passes completed (Garcia played three fewer games) Of those throws by Garcia, Owens had 5, 6, 5 and 4 of those receptions in those respective years. 2000: (355-561 for 4278 yards, 63.3 completion %) 31 TD's, 10 INT's (long - 69) 2001: (316-504 for 3538 yards, 62.7 completion %) 32 TD's, 12 INT's (long - 61) 2002: (328-528 for 3344 yards, 62.1 completion %) 21 TD's, 10 INT's (long - 76) 2003: (225-392 for 2704 yards, 57.4 completion %) 18 TD's, 13 INT's (long - 75) To make a mention once again, Garcia was hobbled in all of 2003 by injuries, his stats reflecting that Tim Rattay began assuming leadership of the team. Agreed. Owens had his lowest output in the 2003 regular season, with a little over 1,100 receiving yards. This was about 200-300 below his average total for the three seasons previous. That didn't help Keyshawn's case, did it? There is. He, LIKE Garcia, slithered away during big-game moments, and it wasn't until the Packer game that Owens found a louder mouth to quiet than the Lambeau fauithful. He has NEVER produced in key situations beyond that playoff game, and this is coming from the biggest of the TO marks. ...and he backs down when the moments come to HIM. Before that TD catch in the fourth quarter, Owens had three receptions for 34 yards. Imagine if he ended the game on that note. But just wait until - Whoop, there it is. ..and we're in agreement on every point you made here.
  16. They still won the worst division in the Major Leagues. Thats like celebrating beating the pants off the Detroit Tigers & Kansas City Royals. Who are you arguing against? You come up with a point about the how the Indians and Sox have been out of it since July, thus I proved how both teams were in it up until two (or three) weeks ago, until both teams imploded and lost the race themselves. Look at your original post. When were the Sox and Indians Wild Card contenders? In July? The only teams that have been a consideration in the past month or so were the Red Sox, Angels, and Rangers (as usual). Hence, my earlier post.
  17. The Twins farm system can't be too good then, since they haven't won a world series for nearly 15 years....heck, they haven't even MADE a world series since last winning it. ...and you're comparing them to? You can say the same about the Cardinals AND the Red Sox, and it's been a longer World Series drought for the latter two teams. Here comes... *gasp*....actual research. The Indians were 63-55 after August 14th, winning 10 of the last 11 games. On that date, they were 1.5 games behind the Twins (64-53). Since that date, they've gone 9-23, with a three, three, five and NINE game losing streak peppered through that period. On the other end, the Twins have gone 24-9 since August 15th, effectively locking up the division. ...and THAT'S how the Indians fell out of the race.
  18. THURSDAY Miami FRIDAY Bowling Green Boise State SATURDAY N.C. State Boston College Notre Dame Florida State Michigan Washington State Arkansas Texas Tech Wisconsin Florida USC Minnesota Arizona State Tiebreaker #1: How many total points will be scored in the Bowling Green/Northern Illinois game? 55. 19. 26 in the summer (Hawaii - 808). 10 in the remaining months (Oregon - 541).
  20. But what about Pete? Did that one night mean NOTHING to her?
  21. For me, seeing those expanded rankings next to the BCS rankings totally clears up any confusion I may have had the BCS process. On an added note, I'd like to see my expanded rankings. I figure that although I'm 3-0, my opponents have yet to have had a great game against me. That'll change next week with my Pac-8 debut against Scarlet's Warriors.
  22. D'Lo's frog splash = The Lo Down. Albert's Canadian backbreaker = Derailer. D'Lo's two-handed slam = Sky High. Albert's two handed chokeslam = Baldo Bomb, Train Wreck
  23. News to me. Now explain why they didn't cut to the Big Unit everytime he had a two strike count. He's third all time in strikeouts, and there's a decent chance that he'll get as far as second now. Is that not important? Its simply not practical. But it's important history that I would have liked to see. They should have found a way. And yet from the "ESPN Sucks" thread... And thank God for that. Because ESPNs version of a "mention" would be cutting to his game everytime there's a two strike count.
  24. Will the BCS rankings continue to include opponents' score as a factor? If one of the teams forfeit, the opposing team will be screwed in the long run. EDIT in response to post below: Must've missed that. Thanks for the clarification.
  25. I've already witnessed Randy Johnson, Kenny Rogers, David Wells and David Cone throwing perfect games live on television. It's still an mind-boggling feat, nonetheless. But let's talk about rarity. As least with me, I didn't see Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron hit their 700th homer live. Did you?
