It's funny...I look at arguments I've gotten in to with Matt Young here a year, two years, even three years ago and say "Man, that guy is a fag."
-
I could be remembering incorrectly the way that Adamle said it, but I think he just said that Batista and Cena would be facing each other at SummerSlam or would be opponents at SummerSlam. They could easily have Adamle explain that they are not the only wrestlers in that match.

All vehicles will be going away. Everyone should just walk to work or wherever they are going, ship everything by train, and then we can have more trees that can be cut down.
-
They don't have "recently added" as an option to look at either, best I can tell.

Shit, I lost track and thought I was in the Dark Knight thread.

I went to the 3:20 today and there were plenty of empty seats. However, there wasn't a lot of action in the 16 screen complex around that time. Sunday afternoons are slow for movies unless they are opening that weekend and a big hit to be. I enjoyed getting lost in the story and characters more this time, and wasn't thinking about how well actors played their roles. Instead, it was like they were not actors at all, but the characters came to life. Jim Gordon fit that bill especially, as has been mentioned here before. I absolutely hated that there were a handful of loud 4-6 year olds that wouldn't shut the fuck up and their parents didn't do much to quit them down. Not to mention an older lady that was a loud laugher or gasper, and a 35-40 year old guy behind me that gave a wolf whistle when Harvey and Rachel kissed. Are we going sans spoiler tags now? I observed a couple of other things this time around, but I'd rather not invoke a lot of blacked out replies.

If they hadn't lost all of those Sunday games, they would be in first place.

It may never be topped. The BO is different now.

In short...no.

"Established posters" is subjective anyway. The names that are mostly thrown around as established are "established" to a certain group of posters, which they themselves are considered to be established. I don't want to label it clique-like, but a lot of people are quick to dismiss those that do not stray from the WWE Folder or any of the wrestling folders. They are not reading the other folders and threads, so they don't know the inside jokes and history of the board. Due to this, they are shunned in other folders, so the cycle continues. I'm not suggesting a group picnic so everyone can get to know each other, but not all of the posters that come here strictly for the wrestling discussion are idiots with nothing to contribute to the board. I rarely posted or read anything outside of the wrestling folders from '99 or whenever to 2004 or 2005. That might be a poor example since I'm not a great poster or anything, but I have at least been involved in a lot of discussions on here over the years and seem to be known to a lot of posters. You get the idea.

I have mentioned this many times before, but I am proud of Jamie getting to this point in his career. He grew up 15 minutes from me and went to a rival high school. I believe he is 1 year older than me, but I might be remembering it wrong. He married his high school sweetheart, and they both keep in contact with a lot of people in the area, and visit whenever they can.

Well, that is a very good counter argument, al and Bored. Perhaps it seems worse on the surface, but is no different than other organizations of this era. I'm looking at Zito's rapid fall off, Mulder and Harden being on the DL often, etc., and it made me wonder why Inoa thought the A's were that much better developing young pitchers. I guess having a large number of successful young pitchers in the first place answered my own question.

The camera pans slowly across the entire length of the snake and the moment the head comes into view, the snake strikes at the cameraman while the camera falls to the ground and the video abruptly ends.
-
I got the snake vid through email the other day and almost had a heart attack.
-
I love the Benoit and Hitlerlingus pics.

With all of those young, promising pitchers from the Oakland system getting hurt and deteriorated, it makes no sense that Michael Inoa turned down more money to go to the Oakland system because he liked their record of developing young pitchers.

The turn for the worse was facilitated by the "this thread is by a wrestling fan and it is about a wrestling board and wrestling is not the cool thing to be into anymore so it's cool to rag on wrestling just like members of the mainstream media think they are being clever when the relate that pro wrestling is not real." I've seen it a hundred times.

Genius, due to your collegiate level of play, you should also notice that Dunn has a poor understanding of good defensive baseball knowledge. My argument was not whether or not Griffey had lost several steps, it was that Dunn was not a better outfielder than him. Surely you can tell that Dunn has poor fundamentals which result in erratic play?
-
I have seen stats that show Brandon Phillips with lower range than some others that have far less range. I'm not sure how many of you guys played years and years of baseball, but stats can lie sometimes. I went to many camps as an outfielder and have watched 90% of the Reds games this year. I know a bad outfielder when I see one, and Dunn is a worse outfielder than Griffey. What are the stats on how often Dunn stands around holding the ball wondering where to throw it to? What are the stats on how quick he turns and throws a strike to the cut off man? I don't care if they show Griffey's range as being one of the lowest in RF, the man still gets to a lot of balls others don't, and is not the albatross that people make him out to be.

Griffey is a shell of his former self on defense, but to say he is the worst outfielder on the team is unfair. In my opinion, it is a statement that has grown out of fans' bitching about him overall, and trying to hold him to the level of play he was at in his prime. He still made countless catches on the run, diving catches, and still has a strong accurate arm. He has great instincts on where to throw and gets it done quickly. Dunn has improved his Magellan-like routes, but he is still a lackadaisical fielder. He is fast for his size, but not quick in the slightest definition of the word. He has a lot of carry on his throws, but not a lot of velocity. Also, he has a habit of double-pumping and trying to figure out the very best place to throw the ball. Runners always challenge him, which is the result of the scouting reports on who to run on. Watch him in the field and you will see the things I am talking about. He never fields the ball with his momentum geared toward the desired target ready to throw before it gets there. He just sort of "quarterbacks" the ball to where it is going, which is apropo considering he is a former QB. Griffey is slower than he once was (by far), and doesn't try to break his neck on every play (which is good), but he is still diving and jumping and making great catches. It is popular to hate Griffey right now because he should not be batting third, but the hate he gets on his fielding is not justified. And let's not start sucking each others' dicks because Adam Dunn doesn't fall down or drop as many routine fly balls as he used to.

Sad day for me. Griffey is my favorite player of all time, and I loved having him on my favorite team. I put off trips to the ballpark three or four times this year due to money/job reasons, and now that I have every weekend off and plenty of money to go, he probably will no longer be there. What pains me is how a lot of Reds "fans" have shit all over Griffey this year. Granted, these are message boarders over at espn.com (seriously, check out the Reds board there, it is atrocious!), but he has been getting shit on by some fans in the stands as well. I think there will be another trade or two for the Reds today.

Marvin, "nearly missed" means it actually happened but almost didn't, not the other way around. George Carlin talked about this during one of his specials. He said that news anchors often made the misnomer of saying a "near miss" for aircraft that almost collided. His take was two planes spectacularly collide in mid-air and there is carnage all around. An on-looker says, "Aw, look...they nearly missed!"

I'm no expert, just a long-time fan. They should be trying to move some people, but it will be hard. A lot of teams are not wanting to give up the talent the Reds want in return for some of the obvious choices to be moved on this team. There are going to be as many as 13 free agents for the Reds in the offseason, and some of them would be good fits for teams trying to push into the postseason. However, I believe the Reds will try to hold on to and re-sign some of those players (Affeldt, Lincoln), and find no willing trade partners for those that they would let go (Weathers, Dunn, Arroyo). Griffey is going to get absolutely no looks due to his down year and the fact that he is near the end of his run. Freel is hurt, otherwise he could be a good utility man for a club. There just isn't a lot they can do, not by lack of trying. This Reds ownership wants to compete and wants to build toward the future, but it's unlikely they will be able to find teams that will accept their demands. Look for Dunn to stay and be offered arbitration. If anyone moves, it could be Arroyo, though I say he ends up staying and we try to move him in the offseason.

It's been done to death, but has that ever stopped us before? My hopeful villains, complete with actor/actress, and brief synopsis on each. I don't think all of these would be in the same movie, mind you. The Penguin---Bob Hoskins "Penguin" is a nickname for Oswald Cobblepot, an aristocrat that owns a high-end nightclub, and uses it to launder money and run drugs and guns. Batman needs to stop his operation because he is flooding the streets with guns, escalating the homicide rate for the city. The Riddler---Michael Emerson Edward Nashton, who goes by the alias Edward Nygma, is an obsessive-compulsive genius who is struggling to make ends meet. He has two failed businesses behind him, and decides to put his brain to use to pull off a heist. He leaves a strange riddle at the scene to throw off the cops, and the media dubs the unknown crook "The Riddler." It becomes a compulsion for him to match wits with the police, and eventually Batman by leaving riddles and clues to his heists and thefts. Well shit, I have to leave. More to come later.

Chipper Jones was pegged to be their SS of the future for a long time.
