After this post concludes, I will be trying something new for myself. For the period of one month, I shall only post one word for each of my posts. I think this will be both hard to do and highly unnecessary at the same time. Here are the rules I am setting for myself: 1) The word I post has to sum up my thoughts one the topic or post I am responding to. 2) I cannot use multiple posts to construct a sentence. 3) I must make at least 5 posts per day from midnight to midnight EST. 4) If I fail at any time to comply with my rules, I will quit the board forever.

Good to see Griffey is not pulling the ball every time. When he starts hitting to dead centerfield or going opposite field, he really gets better. He gets much better extension on the ball and they have to rethink the shift.

Seven instances in 21 at bats. Only two batters got three balls on him, and one of those was a four pitch walk. If you put stock in strikeouts swinging versus missing, all seven Ks were swinging strikeouts. Sounds like an improvement. I hope he continues to develop.

Was he still behind in the count a lot?

I've stated this elsewhere, but not on the board to my knowledge. Cueto's style could lead to him getting hammered in a few games this year. He throws way more strikes than balls and has good heat. He is probably going to give up his fair share of homers in GABP. Still, a great young talent for the Reds, and he was calling a lot of his own pitches out there tonight. He has a great grasp of how to pitch at such a young age. Soto working with Cueto and Volquez has been tremendous so far.

Marty/Thom/Brantley are supposed to be the radio guys while Grande and Chris Welsh have been the TV team for 15 years now. Not sure if they switch over to George and Chris for radio on the rare occasion, but I'm sure Marty is on a part-time schedule. I don't listen to them on radio because almost every game is covered through Fox Sports Cincinnati in this area. Grande and Welsh are excellent announcers on tv (in my opinion). They have a good rapport with the players and the owner. Welsh often has a short segment on pitching techniques of the Reds staff during the pre-game, and Grande just sounds like "Reds babeball" to me. Grande also refuses to say "damn" in BDSSP while doing the plug of that show. He just says "Best Sports Show Period."

Swisher bought a house in Parkersburg that was formerly owned by an executive that blew his brains out last year (not in the house or even in the state). It's about a $5 M mansion sitting in the middle of an above average suburb. Very nice house.

I have never seen Aaron Rowand's house, but I am willing to bet that Swisher has him beat in that category. Hey Czech, FSN Cincy added an HD channel for me, and you're missing Cueto's second start. Edit---Struck out the side in the second. I'm impressed with not only his control, but also his confidence to throw any pitch on any count. He threw a nasty breaking ball on a full count that should have been a ball low. The batter just knew it was coming right down the middle, and he swung 6 inches over it.

Marvin, you missed the entire point of what I posted. I was not saying that the White Sox were on the same level as there next few series of games. I merely meant that with how the O's were predicted this year, the very first game was a test. Hey, they might win their division, who knows! However, you cannot say that they haven't had a test yet like they are some truly great team. Sox were supposed to be better than them, and that was their first game. Edit---Shit, I didn't mean to keep typing White Sox as their first opponent. I got it confused in my head.
