Despite his sick KO, I was not very impressed by the "killer" Matt Brown. The best part of the episode, easily, was Rampage's post-fight recap after the 2nd fight. He was so EXCITED. It was like a kid running in the house and telling his mom about all the awesome stuff he did that day.
-
House was pretty good this past week with the kidnapped soap star and Wilson's waterbed, lol. Next week looks like it has the potential to be an all-time great, though.

Everyone should watch the preview video on the Nintendo Channel. It pumped me up.

I just watched last week's episode of Family Guy and I was dying on multiple occasions. Michael J. Fox cast in the remake of Zorro and his symbol is just a zig-zaggy mess all over the wall. Peter and the dead frog thing killed me. I was laughing so hard - I couldn't even figure out why. And Stewie running in out of nowhere and kicking Brian in the balls at the end after he was all bloody was brilliant.

I thought the same thing... what's the point? The role playing game looked good that I watched the trailer for... I already forget the name though, so that's not a good sign. It looked like it combined the FF Tactics map/terrain battle system with more traditional role playing game battle. The Wii Fit preview video had me drooling. I get more and more excited for everything I see about it.

Well you're going to be treated to two of the biggest lower weight class fights in U.S. history. It's good to see that the show is doing well because I read that some WEC shows have not drawn well. But it makes sense because Urijah is their big star and it's his hometown.
-
That's been on my list for awhile - still haven't gotten around to listening to it.

Mauer breaks it up.

Hey anybody who can get to a TV or a video feed might want to check out the White Sox game.
-
You mean for drift? If so - yes. If its something else then, no...
-
I raced almost as well as I could in the tournament and barely broke 2 minutes. Then I see that the record time is like 1:30. How the fuck? Am I missing something?

I'm going to take this Fight of the Year candidate thread and move it to the end of the year awards section at the top of the board. Use this thread to add discussion on whatever you wish about MMA in 2008... here are my suggestions. - Fight of the Year - Fighter of the Year - Breakthrough fighter of the year - Best Card of the Year - Worst fight of the year - Worst card of the year - Best submission - Best knockout Talk about the year where BJ Penn, Georges St. Pierre, Forrest Griffin, Antonio Nogueira (sorta) and Brock Lesnar all became UFC champs, the rise and fall of Kimbo/EliteXC, Fedor demolishing Timmay and whatever else you want.
-
Yeah that's accurate but it's also sorta smart. I just read that UFC 81 (Lesnar/Mir and Nog/Timmay) only drew 7000 paid despite it's huge PPV numbers. If they have a situation where they are going to sell out no matter what... I don't want to say they should slack off on those cards, but they shouldn't stack them either. Because what happens if they stack a card like Montreal and then just by luck of the draw a Vegas PPV ends up with a shit card. Then they are double fucked. I know it sucks for you guys up North but I hope you can see what I'm getting at.
-
I wouldn't say screwed over. They knew all they needed for an instant sell out was GSP. They need to save more of the marquee matchups for cards that might have trouble selling tickets otherwise.
-
Whoever draws Evan on the wall gets 0 points. I also saw the preview commercial - glad they changed up the events a bit.

Affliction - Banned: Fedor vs. Sylvia
Mik replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Looks like the HDNet part of this deal is off. It turns out it was only going to be the prelims on the network with the PPV portion aired one week later on tape delay, but as I said, that's off. I thought it was free but I'll pay for this if the rest of the card is half decent. -
Luke, you've played it already? How would you describe the actual fitness tests? Fun? Hard?

My DREAM 2 thoughts: - I don't really enjoy watching Aoki fight very much. The whole jump into guard and then do nothing with it is kinda like a Jake O'Brien gameplan in reverse. - Kin was apparently supposed to get hammered but that welt he left on Minowaman's leg was sick. It was a whole footprint! Having the fight in HD really helped out seeing that. Watching the fight - I felt like he easily won but Trigg wasn't so sure. Kenny Rice agreed with Trigg but he's a monkey who knows absolutely nothing. I found myself rooting for Kin and I'm glad he pulled it out. - Dong Sik Yoon is looking a lot better these days but not being in there with Rampage, Sakuraba, etc. probably helps. He easily took this fight but really stamped it home at the end. - Galesic - nice arm bar. Great speech to win over the Japanese fans as well. - Jacare is a beast. He's got the look and the skills to be a big star, either in Japan or here in the US. He steamrolled Murphy, who I sorta felt bad for. He had a nice pedigree and he got a really bad matchup for his MMA debut. I'm pulling for Jacare in this entire tournament. - One interesting point is that Trigg called Jacare the best BJJ practitioner in the history of MMA. He specifically said that he's better than Nogueira and better than B.J. Penn. Interesting point. I wonder if that's accurate or not believable because they both train with Randy. - Tamura looked impressive with that KO. Look forward to his second round match. - Kang shit the bed. The end. He just placed himself in that triangle. Gegard was like, "Oh? Oh really. Ok. I'll synch that in then. Thank you!" - Sakuraba looked ok. Let's just hope he keeps it up through the grand prix - maybe give the Japanese fans one last good run. I enjoyed the show a lot.

Spoilers ARE allowed in this thread. I just didn't want them in CTDWAT where you don't know what you're getting into. In this thread, it's real simple - no spoiler tags needed but don't read the thread if you don't want to (potentially) be spoiled.
-
Yes. It's been that way for a few seasons now.
-
I think this deserves its own thread, simply due to how revolutionary it is. IGN has a few nice features of this up. One of which I'll link now. http://wii.ign.com/articles/866/866524p1.html They say it's among the best scales money can buy. I believe it - because it's calculating your movements so it makes sense it can get your weight very precisely. Some games on here besides yoga: skiing, running, dancing, football (!) There are also personal trainers who actually shout encouragement at you while you're going through these exercises. You can download the daily fitness test to your console so no need to pop the game in for your daily test. I guess the question is: is this just an exercise tool or is it a game? Well, IGN says that it is fun and they in turn classify it as a video game. I absolutely can't wait for this. Who's with me?
-
There are actually a few minor differences as well. Rob has way more blood on his face in alternate ending #1 and in the movie they both say "I love you" but only Beth says it in both of the alt. endings. It's so obvious to see Clover drop into the ocean when you're looking for it at the end. Apparently it was a baby monster that was confused and frightened. Where's momma?

We finally got a much needed update to our HD channels here on Time Warner. Good news right? Not when it's Food Network and Home and Garden HD! I'd really like Spike and USA HD but I think it's an absolute travesty that I still can't get UFC and WWE PPVs in HD but I can watch someone make a soufflé in 1080p! I'd have thought that PPV would be one of the first channels to get the upgrade. I guess that's why I don't work at a cable network.

I only watched the first season of the Contender but I know who Forbes is. It would be something if he beats Oscar. Free fight, heck I'll be watching despite not being huge in to boxing.
