No, Shawn was nowhere to be found on RAW is Owen.

Going back to the first Smackdown, where he superkicked Rock, costing him the title against HHH....obviously something was planned beyond that, but then he disappeared again until (as mentioned) the JD 2000 Iron Man match. What happened?

That's a shame, I love Michaels/Owen moments.

Work or not, I still mark at HBK collapsing during that match in '95.

I was re-watching WM 14 last week, and they showed a great "I know what you're thinking, I'm just a wrestler..." Stop me if I'm wrong, but when they get to the accomplishments, there's Marc Mero's golden gloves, Rocky's U of Miami football, Faarooq's Florida State football and Shamrock's UFC achievements. Wasn't Marc Mero added in as a replacement at some point? I could swear there was someone else in that place at one point...

I swear Shawn said that line, too. I remember Austin saying it as well. They also put Austin at the beginning, and had him say, "I know what your thinkin'", as a replacement for someone that I can't remember. What was interesting about it was that it was definitely NOT Austin's voice, but rather someone doing a really bad Austin/Texas hick imitation.

I think they thought they could pass it off, but I noticed right away.

Where was Jerry Sags for RR 91 and where was Brian Knobs for RR 92?

Sags was actually working the dark match.

Royal Rumble 91 - Miami, FL - Arena - January 19, 1991

Jerry Saggs pinned Sam Houston with a powerslam at 5:25

I'm guessing the Nastys were used as substitutes each year. It doesn't make much sense to throw one in the match and not the other. Sags subbing for Jannetty in 92 is correct, IIRC.

Something that popped into my head while talking about WWE weddings...

In 1999, I remember something about Stephanie getting hit in the head with a trash can thrown by the Bulldog. She then suffered some amnesia, I think. What was the timeline on this? Did anything happen with the Bulldog? And how was the amnesia resolved?

this happened at the uk ppv in like october 99 I think (rebellion?) in which rock and hhh main evented in a cage.

Bulldog was yelling at vince or something and threw a trash can just as steph was walking in. Vince was pissed. I htink test fought bulldog at leats once but they dropped the story fairly quickly as steph started to remember and actually asked test to marry her on raw or sd (cant remember which)

in short it was quickly dropped and never mentioned again, as per usual WWF/E logic

I'm pretty sure they did that angle because the Test/Steph wedding was originally supposed to take place in early October, but then for whatever reason they decided that they didn't want to do that angle so soon so they had Steph get amnesia and delayed the wedding several weeks.

I always hated when WWF would stick tag team guys in the Royal Rumble. It's one thing when it was a super elite team like the Hart Foundation or Demolition, but mainly it would be the lower tier guys who were completely useless in that setting. They may as well just have put t-shirts on them with the words "Cannon Fodder" written in magic marker.

Actually, Gorilla said himself during the opening match that Knobs was out with a dislocated shoulder. The subs were Haku and Nikolai Volkoff. Of course, that could have just been the kayfabe reasoning.

There's a video on YouTube entitled Ric Flair can dance all night long...It made an appearance in both the YouTube thread of General Wrestling and Chocolate Socket...

Anyway, the first line of the video is a old Ric Flair promo (prolly mid-late 70's) in which Tony Schiavone introduces Ric Flair as coming to Winnipeg, and Flair says "Wally Cosmo, the great wrestling promoter...."

Anyone ever hear of this guy? Has he done anything of note? Is he real? I haven't googled anything this intently since trying to find out who Ry Cooder was because of a Tragically Hip song, but thus far, the search has been in vain.

Never heard of a "Wally Cosmo." Are you sure he didn't say "Wally Karbo?" He was a real promoter, associated primarily with the AWA.

It has to be Wally Karbo. It fits in with Winnipeg, too, since the 'Peg was a huge AWA town.

Thank you. No love for the Hip reference?

EDIT: Wikipedia and Google check out. Fuck, that's a load off my mind. Thanks, CC and Invader.

Sorry, not into the Tragically Hip myself. Try referencing the Pixies or the Replacements and we can talk.

...where the great plains begin.

Hey, that fits in with Winnipeg, too.

At what show did the infamous "We're live, pal!" Sid interview botch happen?

Eh?

I think it's on youtube or somewhere like that, but basically what happened is Sid was starting to cut a promo in front of the camera along with Ted Dibiase. He flubbed a line, then said something like "Let's start over," and Jim Ross (at least I think that's who it was interviewing him) said "We're live, pal!" so Sid quickly improvised something and stormed off, IIRC. The announcers played it off as Sid being a lunatic.

1.) How did the feud with Hogan and the Dungeon of Doom end?

2.) Why did Jimmy Hart turn on Hogan at Havoc 95?

3.) Did Ric Flair and Sgt. Slaughter ever wrestle each other? And if so, any televised matches?
