Remember Daffney's one-and-only PPV match, that horrible "wedding gown" affair against Stacey Keibler? The absolutely brilliant braintrusts of WCW scheduled her to wrestle that match less than a week after she had throat surgery. And she gave them notice about it long ahead of time. There are many, many other similar examples. Â 2. As I recall, Animal didn't actually DO anything in the match except run out and stomp Sid for the pin after his leg snapped like a slimjim.

Â Before Eddie couldn't handle the pressure with the belt.......did JBL was booked to win the title at some point of that year anyway???

Â It was the plan long before Shawn vacated the title. At some point between Survivor Series and February's In Your House (Final Four), Vince made the decision to go with Sid vs. Taker at Mania XIII. Shawn was going to drop the belt to Sid at the Thursday Raw and then do the job to Bret in the semi main event at Mania. Shawn saw two big jobs in his immediate future and immediately "lost his smile."

Whether or not the rumours of Austin being booked to win the title at Final Four and the finish being changed on the fly due to his injury during the match are true, whoever was winning the title was scheduled to drop it to Sid the next night to further the Bret/Austin issue and set up Sid/Taker for the strap at WM XIII.

Â Â As bloated as Hogan's ego is, I'm not sure if Hulk Vs The Butcher was anybody's first choice for Hulk's first Starrcade

If memory serves, Flair was first promising the "Ultimate surprise" for Hogan, then started promising the "Perfect response". Was WCW just dicking everyone around or was there at least some negotations with these people? I forget if Renegade existed because WCW felt they could do a good rip off or if talks with the real Warrior fell apart and this was plan B.

Â My memory's somewhat foggy so someone else can fill in the blanks but IIRC after Razor Ramon lost to The 123 Kid, Ted DiBiase started mocking Razor for losing to a (then) jobber 123 Kid. So a couple weeks later, DiBiase has a match with the 123 Kid and Razor interferes to give The 123 Kid the win.

Â The specific segment was Ted Dibiase/IRS trashing Razor for losing to the 1-2-3 Kid and then Razor verbally attcked them, setting up Dibiase's final match at SummerSlam '93. Â It was in early-to-mid July of '93 IIRC.

I don't actually remember this, but I do recall Heenan vaguely bringing it up during SummerSlam 93 commentary ("the domesticated Bad Guy").

Tatanka claims Luger sold out, only to sell out him self. Personally, I loved that storyline, but where did it go after Tatanka turned heel? Seems the next thing I remember, was Luger and Bulldog forming a tag team.

Â He was being cheered for awhile (See WM 9 against Backlund), but the initial turn, as mentioned above, was when Money Inc. was making fun of him for losing to the 1-2-3 Kid. IIRC Razor cost IRS a match against PJ Walker to get back at him, and this led to Ramon defeating Ted Dibiase in his final match at SummerSlam 1993.

Dobbs 3K Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 WWF/WWE has never been really huge on factions, I guess. Other than the Hart Foundation, what other group has even come close? They had all the "Gang Warz" factions around '97, but those were all midcard acts basically. Kaientai was basically a comedy group after Togo and Teioh left. Evolution didn't have close to the same impact, and I don't think you can say any version of DX really did either (for the most part it was basically just a tag team of HBK/HHH). Let's not forget the ultra-lame WWF version of the nWo. Really, the Hart Foundation was the only group in WWF to be really dominant and win multiple titles. Â Speaking of the Road Warriors in WCW...I remember around '93 or so, on a Clash of the Champions, there was an angle where a babyface was injured before a tag team match (I want to say Ricky Steamboat, but I'm not sure). Anyway, a car drove out to the ring, and Road Warrior Animal stepped out to take his place in the tag match. The heels, who were Rick Rude and the Equalizer (I have no idea why they were teaming), said something like "Hah! We knew it was going to be you!" and were met with a reply of "There isn't one Road Warrior, there are two!"...and then Hawk came out from under the ring to be in the match. Does anyone else remember this? I don't know if this lead to Hawk competing full time in WCW again, or if there was a break before he came back and had that brief feud with Kurasawa.

Anything with Heenan in those days was fantastic, but that was the strongest roster for the group.
Dobbs 3K Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 You're right about that being an impressive list of wrestlers...but the thing about the Heenan Family was that it was basically Heenan managing these guys individually. Sure, they teamed up once in a while for the Survivor Series and stuff like that, but how often did they actually work together as a group? I remember Barbarian and Haku (I think) helping Mr. Perfect against the Big Boss Man, but that's about the only instance I can think of right now.
