And that's probably why the 93 Rumble was sooooo bad. (Yokozuna vs Earthquake in a sumo showdown should say it all)

1992 save for those big 6 names at the time(Flair, Hogan, Piper, Savage, Sid, Taker) were LOADED with equally shitty names like the 1993 rumbles (Berzerker, Barbarian, Volkoff, Haku, Valentine, Mustufa, Skinner, WARLORD etc)

I have to disagree - 92 also had name wrestlers like Davey Boy Smith, Kerry Von Erich, Jake the snake, an emerging Shawn Michaels, Ted Dibiase (okay, he was out in 2 minutes but he still had credibility) and Bossman.

None of them were serious threats to the big 6 that you pointed out, but they added some name value to the match. 1993 had Flair, Perfect, Taker, Savage and Yokozuna as the only real name artists, with Bob Backlund doing the ironman job. And to make matters worse, the Taker was eliminated by someone not even in the match - Giant Gonzales.

Gone 13 months later

Flair-Bossman-Sid-Martel-Mustafa-Piper-Roberts-Sags-Skinner-Bulldog-Snuka-Valentine-Volkoff-Von Erich-Warlord-Berzerker-Barbarian

well that isnt exactly correct

Saggs was still wrestling in April 93 and I think Skinner was also and I don't think Martel ever left he was just injured and had to take time off

Also I thought the 93 Rumble was great (but a shame they didn't but evil Doink in though  )

On the Wrestlemania The Collection tapes (not the Legacy), is it unedited and are they all "clear" (they don't have the WWF logo in the corner) ?

If Hogan and Savage were the Mega Powers, and Savage and Warrior were the Ultimate Maniacs, what were Hogan & Warrior?

As far as I can tell, the tapes are unedited. The only bad thing about the "Collection" is that the tapes are in SLP (EP) mode. Some of the shows have the WWF logo in the corner, but it was there in the original broadcast. For example, WrestleMania X has a WWF logo in the corner, but it's the gold-colored "block" logo and not the scratch logo. Unlike the "Legacy," none of the tapes have the scratch logo in the corner.

I'm pretty sure they were never referred to with a team name. At least not for the SNME tag match leading up to WrestleMania VI.

Well, going by the theory...I'd say the Ultimate Powers.

Mega Maniacs was taken by Hogan and Beefcake.

I was wondering what was the famous episode of raw when Bret told the fans to kiss his ass, HBK came out and dissed on hitman (askin how he knew that Shawn was in that girlie mag) then Bret put him in a figure four around the ringpost?!? I've been looking for that episode of raw for a while. I'd appreciate any help.

How did Crush turn heel between WrestleMania IX and WrestleMania X?

What happened with Curt Hennig and Ric Flair in 1997? I remember Ric putting him in the tree of woe and then draping the US Title over his head and dropkicking it, at either Halloween Havoc or World War 3, but that's the last I recall.

Why did Piper and Hogan have so many non-title matches? Didn't they also have one at Starrcade? Wouldn't fans be disappointed?

Yoko injured Crush on Raw the day after Luger bodyslammed him on the Intrepid. Because Yoko was rather pissed at the time, he hit a number of Bonzai Drops after the match until Randy Savage - who was Crush's pal - came in the ring and Yoko and Fuji left. A few weeks later, Crush started calling into Raw to update everyone on his condition but when Savage said hi he would always hang up. Later on, we found out he blamed Savage for not coming to his aid sooner (he also blamed Savage for being in the IC title battle royal when Crush's name mysteriously wasn't entered). When Crush came back in October 93, they had the Savage - Crush summit in which Randy tried to apologize and tell Crush that hanging with Mr. Fuji wasn't the thing to do. They apparently made up just for Crush to drop Savage with a clothesline and then drop Savage throat-first across the retaining barrier. Savage accidentally bit down on his tongue as he hit the barrier which caused his mouth to bleed pretty badly. It looked good on TV though.

Hennig turned heel on the Horsemen at Wargames that September, threatening to slam the cage door on Flair's head if the Horsemen didn't throw the match and give it to the nWo. Then, once they did throw the match, Hennig slammed the door on Flair's head anyway. It looked rather sick at the time. They met at Havoc with Hennig winning via DQ after the belt incident. Then they had a No DQ match at World War 3 which Hennig again won after hitting Flair with the title belt as he was locked in the figure-4. They were to have had a cage match at Starrcade but Flair pulled out a few weeks prior to the show ... forget why.

Cause WCW wanted to send the fans home happy without having to put the belt on Piper. They had 2 non title matches - Starrcade 96 and Havoc 97 (the cage match). Their only PPV title match was SuperBrawl, in which Hogan won after Savage returned and turned heel to join the nWo. The fans might have been disappointed about not having a title match but it made the outcome of the match more in doubt. Had they all been title matches we all could have called the outcome weeks ahead of time - obviously Piper wasn't winning the belt.

WWF @ Detroit, MI - Cobo Hall - March 8, 1997

WWF World Champion Psycho Sid defeated Bret Hart in a steel cage match by escaping out the door as Hart attempted to escape over the top

I was actually at that match for my birthday and when you looked in the ring with the binoculars you could actually see Bret and Sid laughing about something.

How did HHH get back into the 97 KOTR tournament when Ahmed had already eliminated him to advance?

WWF @ Mobile, AL - Civic Center - May 19, 1997

Raw is War:

KOTR Qualifying Match: Hunter Hearst Helmsley (w/ Chyna) (sub. for Vader) pinned Crush; Vader was taken out of the match due to injuries sustained against Ken Shamrock at 'Cold Day in Hell'; Helmsley was allowed another spot in the tournament because he was not properly instructed prior to his match with Ahmed Johnson the previous week that he could be eliminated via disqualification and thus threatened the WWF with legal action

Jan 87 Butch Reed (w/ Slick) pinned Mario Mancini with a gorilla press slam & elbow drop at the 57-second mark; prior to the match, Andre the Giant was introduced to the crowd and came into the ring to shake Mancini and the ring announcer’s hand but Slick & Reed refused to sh ake his hand

Prime Time Wrestling - 3/9/87: Cpl. Kirschner pinned Johnny K-9 (sub. for Butch Reed) with a fall away slam at 9:09; prior to the bout, Slick came to the ring and announced that Reed would not be able to compete because he was suffering from the flu; Kirschner then chased Slick backstage

3/8/87 - Tito Santana pinned Barry O with the flying forearm at 4:40; during the bout Slick came ringside and attacked Santana with his cane

Did any of these angles lead anywhere?

The Andre thing was just days before he turned heel so no. I think he hadn't been on TV in a while so it was just meant to reintroduce him.

I'm sure Kirschner was jobbed out to Reed quite a bit but they didn't "feud".

Santana feuded with Reed (w/ Slick) for several months.

Whoops I read that Tito sentence as "Iron Shiek" instead of Slick. I was watching back in the day when Reed/Santana fueded. My mistake.

Thanks, Graham.

That's also the first time I've ever heard about the proposed Hennig/Flair cage match.

How did Vince McMahon come back after Fully Loaded where he said if Undertaker lost, he (Vince) would "never" come to back on national TV (yeah right) ?

Stone Cold brought him back on the condition that he received a WWF Championship Match. There was some clause in the contract that said Austin was the only person capable of giving Vince his job back.

Okay here's one: Where did Oscar come from? I have heard nothing of his existence prior to or after his WWF stint..

From that interview on Wrestlecrap, I believe he rapped for Randy Savage at a Las Vegas casino during WM 9 weekend, he liked what he saw, and recommended him to Vince as a mouthpeice for MOM.

During their initial run around the curcuit in 85-86 as well as their second run in 1989, Savage scored a great deal of count-out victories over the champion. In 86, they led to lumberjack matches (one of which was held at MSG and had George Steele costing Savage the match) and in 89 they led to steel cage matches. Of course Hogan won all of those.

But in terms of pinfalls, Hogan owns Savage with 13 years worth of 1-2-3 wins.

I have a few questions

How did Randy Savage turn face in 1987?

How did Jinsei Shinzaki (Hakushi) turn face in the mid 90s WWE?

While were on our old pal Hakushi, why did he leave the WWE? & are those real tattoos? I always figured they were but still have to wonder.

1> He turned face in August of 87... Cawthon will probably tell you what sparked it, but a Heel had "his" title, and he wanted it back....

2> He and Skip cost each other matches vs Barry Horowitz and Hakushi ended up sided with Horowitz vs Rad Radford and Skip

Hakushi's tattoo's were roll on ink, He went on House shows with out them.

Storyline wise...Bradshaw branded him and disgraced him into leaving.

For real....He was around a little under a year and was turning into a JTTS, so he probably decided to take off back to Japan where his talents would be appreciated.
