What do you guys think were some of the best feuds in wrestling that you really enjoyed?

I think Rvd/Jerry Lynn, Shawn Michaels/Kurt Angle, Flair/Dusty, Awesome/Tanaka are just some that I liked, I could go on and on though

Semi-obscure question

Was the stuff about Nathan Jones being one of the most dangerous prisoners in a maximum security prison in Australia kayfabe or legit? I was looking on his website and it said he was born in 1969 and the stuff about him being in prison just didn't seem to check out in terms of age. (It said on wikipedia that he served ten years in the 80s and early 90s)

And I apologize for being an idiot, if everybody has realized that Jones' rep was BS by now but me.

What happened to Rick Martel in 91? after Wrestlemania he loses to the Warrior and Piper on Television and then he's gone until just before the Royal Rumble, was he injured?

Jones did an interview where he said he had the rep and he just went along with it so he'd have an easier time in prison. He figured if people thought he really was that nuts they'd leave him alone.

So was he really nuts and had to be restrained by five guards or just percieved to be nuts?

I think the five guards deal was myth. But he wasn't really nuts at all. It was something he went along with because the rep made people leave him alone.

Not really an old school question but I figured I'd ask here instead of starting a thread.

I've just gotten back into watching wrestling (For some godforsaken reason I'm not sure about) after only watching bits and pieces for the past three years. So I was wondering some good pay per views (WWE you guys would recommend me from April 2003 to about January 2006 to catch me up?

from what I have seen only, Id say Royal Rumble 04, No Way Out 04(simply for Eddies big win), WM 20, Summerslam 04, Rumble 05, WM 21, Summerslam 05,Rumble 06, Wm 22, Judgment Day 06 (suprisingly good to me)

Summerslam 04 was one of the most abysmal shows I have ever seen. It completely turned me off the product for good.

Wrestlemania 20 was an excellent show, and probably the only thing I can remember from the past few years that is worth the money to seek out. One Night Stand (if you consider that WWE) is also very good, mostly from a nostalgia standpoint.

i meant for catching up puproses. It had Orton winning the world title in what was meant to be his big push and it turned out to lead to Batistas big push in 05.

I'm not exactly sure, but I'm guessing he was either semi-retired or taking time off due to his three straight television jobs. Upon his return, it was acknowleged that he had taken some time off.

I did find it bizarre that he was made to look stronger in losing to the Warrior than losing to Piper.

Vengeance 2003

SummerSlam 2003

No Mercy 2003

Survivor Series 2003

I really didn't have a problem with the 2004 PPVs aside from GAB and Armageddon

Royal Rumble 2005

Wrestlemania 21

Judgment Day 2005

Vengeance 2005

SummerSlam 2005

Taboo Tuesday 2005

No Mercy 2005

Survivor Series 2005

Royal Rumble 2006

Wrestlemania 20 was noticeably absent from that list. Benoit's win (sorry to spoil, if applicable) was wrestling's equivalent of the 2004 Sox. Add to it a unique Cruiserweight match, perfectly entertaining 2 on 3 tag and more than enjoyable Angle-Benoit, and this is a good show all around.

Yeah I know from reading these boards what the World title scenes were like so I know that much.

How is No Way Out 2004? That's one of the few wrestling VHS' they have at a video store nearby (at any video store) I know Eddie wins the title there but is the undercard any good? They also have Vengence and No Mercy 2004, are those any good?

I got a question, and I need to settle a debate with somebody. What did Ric Flair think about having guys like Roma and Mongo in the group. Did he ever have an opinion about it in his book or any interviews?

Posted

Well, the problem with Roma was mainly that he hadn't really done anything to warrant being included in the Horsemen. I mean, he was known for being one half of a low card WWF tag team. That's it. Guys like Tully, Arn, Windham, Luger, etc...had all won titles or had other major accomplishments before joining the Horsemen.

You could argue Sid Vicious hadn't done a lot, but at least he was over as a monster and fit the mold of being "the muscle" of the group. You could even say Steve McMichael at least fit the same mold, and was a Super Bowl champion.

The other thing was that the event was billed as "the original Horsemen reunited" and then Tully no showed...so basically Roma was a last minute replacement, and a huge letdown at that.

Posted
Well for Roma at least, didn't Flair have creative control? So I assume he must have had some sort of approval over that.

I guess Flair may have been a Young Stallions mark.

Flair had no creative control at that time. Dusty Rhodes was the main booker at the time. It was supposed to be Tully Blanchard as the fourth Horseman but the deal fell apart over money issues. Roma was a late sub, and I guess he was the best they felt they could on such short notice.
