Vyce 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2003 Is it just my ever-slashy mind, or are they trying to make evo-verse Pietro as gay as possible? I've gotten a bit of a Queer Eye for the X Guy vibe off of him. Are they showing new episodes now?
Guest JMA Report post Posted September 23, 2003 I've never been a fan of Spyke. He just seemed like the token "Xtreme Sportz" character in the series. But it would be rather stupid to just forget about him (seeing as he is related to Storm). Perhaps his return is only a one time thing. Or maybe he'll be less annoying. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 Potential spoilers for Uprising. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): It is being heavily rumoured at tvtome and superherohype that Spyke dies in this episode.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 I'll keep my fingers crossed for that one.
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 Kid's WB? Show death? C'mon now... although they DID show Mystique getting frozen and broken into many tiny pieces...
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2003 I figured since there was already an Evo thread, I wouldn't make another one just for Saturday's episode. So, what are everyone's thoughts of Spyke's return, the new mutant character, and/or where the series is headed?
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2003 Meh, it was pretty weak. They just need to have a knockdown, drag out fight between the Morlocks and the X-Men to finish it once and for all.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2003 I thought the ep was decent. I actually tolerated Spyke for once. Whoa. I have a feeling Leech (Yeah, that WAS Leech) will play a major role soon enough, also. This Saturday we've got an episode called "Cajun Spice", which I assume means we're getting a Gambit ep. Booyah.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2003 Nah, the Morlocks and X-Men don't hate each other like the Brotherhood hates the X-Men. The Morlocks usually keep quiet in the sewer, and don't hate humans like, say, Magneto. They are partially ashamed of themselves because of their looks/powers, and they dislike most of hamanity because of its prejudice towards mutants. The only real way I could see the Morlocks having an end-all battle with the X-Men is if they joined up with Magneto when he comes back. What? Come on, you KNOW he's not dead. However, if the TMNT came over to fight the Morlocks, it'd be ON. I also thought Spike(I refuse to use the y in his name; it just looks like they're trying too hard) looked pretty badass on Saturday. But I still think he has got the stupidest power of anyone on the show. Also, they need to take him out of the opening credits and stick somebody like Iceman(or is it Iceboy?) in there, who has helped the X-Men on many occassions. IMO, Iceman would be a very cool addition to the main cast. I know what you're thinking and yes, that WAS the worst pun ever. Somewhat off-topic: What the fuck was up with Omega Red a few weeks ago? He had an underbite the size of Montana, and the style of animation made him seem like a total pussy compared to his comic book and original TV series counterparts. Then again, it is Kids' WB. Oh, and Gosunkugi, you are talking about the kid with the headaches being Leech, right? Side note: I've seen the powers of every new person at the Institute(Magma, Berserker, etc.) except one. Does anybody know what the new black kid's power(s) is/are? He's never called by name either, or at least I've never heard it myself. It's starting to bug me a little. AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2003 "New black kid"? You don't mean Sunspot, do you? As for the Morlocks, I think it's more of me getting sick of all the hokey endings whenever they show up(well... aside from when Evan joined them, I suppose). I just wish they'd shake things up some already concerning the Morlocks, that's all. Hopefully, I made some sense somewhere in that rambling...
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2003 Ohhh, so that's Sunspot. I had read about the character, and seen him on the show, but I never put 2 and 2 together.
Guest JMA Report post Posted September 29, 2003 Surprisingly, I liked the episode. I thought it was very well done. They also made the wise decision to keep Spyke with the Morlocks. I found Duncan Matthews' development from dumb jock to bigot very interesting. As well as Fury willing to work with Trask. Overall, good stuff. I'm still kicking myself for missing Impact. As for romance, I like the idea of Kitty/Lance and Toad/Wanda.
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2003 Isn't Kitty/Lance pretty much done at this point? And with Wanda/Toad, I would say "no way in Hell", but then I remember that she married an android...

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2003 Isn't Kitty/Lance pretty much done at this point? And with Wanda/Toad, I would say "no way in Hell", but then I remember that she married an android... Call me insane, but I'm all for Kurt/Scarlet Witch. C'mooon...I can't be the -only- one who think the pairing could work. I mean, they both got evil dead parents and all that [one's a pile of rock and the other is, um, somewhere]. And I found this little news bit in an X-Men: Evolution LJ community: "Cajun Spice," a new episode of X-Men: Evolution scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4 on Kids' WB!, will feature Gambit and Rogue, producer Greg Johnson told The Continuum. "This is the episode where Rogue tries to come to terms with what she did to Mystique, as well as her efforts to repair the damage with Kurt," Johnson told The Continuum. "Gambit, having a soft spot for Rogue, thinks he knows just what the girl needs, and spirits her off to New Orleans. "I think fans will appreciate how Rogue and Gambit's relationship unfolds in this episode. Obviously, it's not a mushy romance, but the tension between them simmers quite well. We also involve enough of Gambit's backstory to give us a taste of what motivates him."
Vyce 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2003 Aw Christ, we have to deal with fucking Rogue pining for Gambit again (and vice versa). Only now it's creepier, as Gambit appears to be a grown man, and Rogue seems to be a 15 year old girl. You know what would make me tolerate Gambit in this show? If they have him aid Sinister in slaughtering the Morlocks. THAT made me like the Cajun for half a minute in the comics.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2003 It doesn't make much sense character-wise either. For the entire series Rogue has been more interested in straight-arrows like Angel & Cyclops. Rogue was 17 in Season 3, so she is probably 18 now. Gambit is in his mid-20s.
Guest JMA Report post Posted September 30, 2003 Isn't Kitty/Lance pretty much done at this point? I don't think it's over quite yet. Those feelings just don't go away. Besides, Lance still has that guilty conscience thing that causes him to "do the right thing" at certain times.

Least that's what the general consensus was for those who posted in the LJ community. Most believe it makes no sense since the two have had very little interaction on the show. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2003 Shadowcat/Gambit would make more sense if not for the age difference. She has shown interest in Avalanche in the past, and Gambit is far more charismatic than he is.
