Guest AndrewisyourHero Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Crash Holly Firing Partly Due To Argument With Gewirtz Posted By Widro on 08.08.03 Interesting look at why Crash was released… Crash Holly had an argument with Raw writer Brian Gewirtz that was a major factor in his release from the company. Holly was well known as one who complained about how he was being used backstage, went to Dave Lagana to voice his concerns. Lagana told him to take his concerns to Vince McMahon, who makes all the final decisions. Holly probably never got to McMahon, but he did have a heated argument with Brian Gewirtz, and Gewirtz noted to John Lauranitis that he felt threatened by Holly. A short time later, Lauranitis informed Holly of his release. Credit: PW Torch
Steviekick Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 That's so ridiculous. They should be happy if their employees come up to them trying to help out with creative. Not that everyone should have total control of themselves like in WCW, but people who have ideas should be allowed tto suggest them. If Crash did threaten Gerwitz, than I think that the decision was right. But if he didnt threaten him, that's pretty messed up. I really can't see Crash being an asshole like that.
Guest Fook Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Memo to WWE wrestlers: Never tell Gewirtz that DC is better than Marvel. You saw what happened to Crash.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Gewirtz noted to John Lauranitis that he felt threatened by Holly He said that out loud?
Guest CronoT Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Gewirtz noted to John Lauranitis that he felt threatened by Holly He said that out loud? We all knew Gerwitz is a pansy-ass Moma's boy. Now we have proof.
Steviekick Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Memo to WWE wrestlers: Never tell Gewirtz that DC is better than Marvel. You saw what happened to Crash. I could so see that. Raven was fired because he prefers the more heady thought provoking edgy comics from Vertico than the adolescent power trip comics of Marvel. Damn, Hurricane better be careful. Gerwitz will make him change his Green Lantern tatoo into a Spider-Man symbol because Spidey is cooler in his mind.
{''({o..o})''} Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 (edited) Being a pansy-ass Moma's boy, I feel offended being lumped with Gewirtz. Edited August 9, 2003 by frozenblockofpissreborn

Who says Helms doesn't play politics?
Steviekick Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 True, but Helms' friendship with Gerwitz doesn't seem to have benefitted him too much. His push rate is very inconsistent. One week he's a tag champion and helping Kane in his feud with HHH, next week he's on Heat.
Only The Strong Survive Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Now he's in a shitty angle with a guy named S.H.I.T. Oh the irony...
Jobber of the Week Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Helms, although I haven't liked a single angle the guy's been involved, had the balls to step up and bitch out the Torch for that report on his site, and denies having anything political going on with Gerwitz backstage. As for the Crash thing, you're gonna hate me but I have to take Gerwitz's side. If I was a wrestling writer, no matter how good or bad, I wouldn't consider guys wearing nothing but shorts and boots coming up and chewing me out to be part of the job description. I know that someone getting fired over it would not make many friends in the company, but seriously, you respect me and treat me decent, and I'll listen to your complaint about character direction or whatever. I guess I could never work in WWE though. Shitheads like Fuck Goldberg who can angrily demand they be pushed harder and get away with it because of a contract clause would be the end of me.
teke184 Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 If you think Gerwitz sucks now, wait until I post the second Raven shoot on Monday. I won't spoil anything but examples of Gerwitz' incompetence are provided.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 I wish RVD would yell at him. He IS opening a comic store...maybe that will put some heat on him.
Rendclaw Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Hurry up with that, Teke!! You're on a major roll here! Cornette last week and Raven, part 2, coming soon... I laughed my ass off during parts of the Cornette shoot. I would love to see him take control of the E for a year and see where it would go. Nah it would take him a year just to clean house. Two years.
AndrewTS Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Actually...Helms and Gerwitz are pretty tight according to reports... Who says Helms doesn't play politics? He had his push pre-emptively killed for fear of that happening. Hence the completely FUCKING POINTLESS Hurri-Kane reign that went nowhere but making Kane look strong. Although I wouldn't want Crash in legal deep shit, I kinda wish he'd have beaten the shit out of Gerwitz and broke his nose. Someone oughta do it.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 My question is: When did this altercation take place because Gerwitz works only for RAW (a aprt of the 'hard' writer split) and Crash has been on SmackDown! for ages.
razazteca Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Memo to WWE wrestlers: Never tell Gewirtz that DC is better than Marvel. You saw what happened to Crash. Never discuss Graphic Novels either.......if it ain't comedy its crap.
Guest Super Pissed Smark Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 and Gewirtz noted to John Lauranitis that he felt threatened by Holly. A short time later, Lauranitis informed Holly of his release. Maybe I'm getting my Holly's confused, but I thought Crash was the small one, or am I mixing him up with the full-sized one who roughs up Tough Enough contestants?
Guest T®ITEC Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Crash is the small one, yes. Gerwitz is just a wuss.

AndrewTS Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Crash is the small one, yes. Gerwitz is just a wuss. He's still a wrestler and Gerwitz isn't, plus he's been working as a bouncer. I wouldn't fuck with Crash.

teke184 Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I'll be a little more specific about my plug... Raven had an idea for turning a certain character. Gerwitz shot it down then came up with his own. Raven outlined both and said that Gerwitz's version was horrible on so many levels that it was pathetic that he was doing more than writing comedy promos. I'd tend to agree with him.
Guest deadbeater Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Writers don't get paid as much as the wrestlers. However that does not mean they should be treated without civility. This is not like yelling at, say, Fit Finlay or Sgt Slaughter; that is what they and the other agents are there for.
