Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted August 11, 2003 WWE house show report August 10, 2003 Des Moines, Iowa Report by Londa, PWTorch.com correspondent About 3,000 or so in attendance. The Fink came out to welcome everyone to the show. Took a bit because the sound wasn't working right away. (1) Goldust & Hurricane & Mark Jindrak beat Stevie Richards & Rico & Rodney Mack. (2) Randy Orton beat Maven. (3) Molly Holly beat Ivory, Gail Kim and Victoria in a four way elimination match. Val Venus was the special guest referee. After the match Val Venus tried to get Ivory to "Show her Stuff" which led to some teasing but nothing more. Chris Jericho had "Stone Cold" Steve Austin on the Highlight Reel. Both taunted each other while Jericho pointed out that Austin could not touch him unless Jericho touched him first. Austin invited Jericho to share a beer which he did but then patted Austin on the back which prompted a Stunner. (4) La Resistance beat The Dudley's in a title match. The Frenchmen went for the tables but Spike came from the back and broke it up which allowed Bubba and D-Von to put one of the Frenchmen through a table. The highlight of the night was when Spike broke a piece of the table off and they brought a little boy from the crowd and gave it to him while Spike used the boy's camera to take a picture. (5) Christian defeated Booker T for the Intercontinental Title. I was waiting for a swerve but Christian left with the title and Booker T was helped out but the refs and Sgt. Slaughter. Eventually he walked on his own power but looked like he was immense pain. I'm interested to see how this will come out for Monday Night Raw. (6) Scott Steiner pinned Lance Storm. Lance Storm announced that there would be no match because Scott Steiner's flight was late. But Steiner showed up wearing street clothes and they had a match in which Steiner won. (7) Kane beat RVD in a Steel Cage Match. Overall a very enjoyable show despite the low attendance. All the superstars played to the crowd, hit their finished, and showed appreciation to the crowd. Many stars signed Autographs along ringside. Can't wait to see how they explain Booker T-Christian on Monday night if they do. I guess Booker was in worse shape than we thought. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 ... A: If true I like the idea of changing a title on a house show. B: If true...they should have done it with the tag titles. C. If true.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 From Da Meltz: [email protected] Christian won the IC title tonight in Des Moines. The finish was Booker T going for the ax kick, screaming and dropping down, heavily selling his lower back (which has been bothering him for years, and greatly over the past ten days). Christian gave him an unprettier and pinned him. Booker was helped to the back by a couple of referees and the trainer.
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted August 11, 2003 EDIT: bps beat me to it.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 Yeah...but you broke the story first. I hope Book gets better...but I guess we won't see him for a while. Nice to see him drop the title like a man...the way it should be done.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 11, 2003 Damn...I knew this would happen... I guess this is good in the HOLY SHIT markish part of me... It COULD mean Hurricane/X....
Guest Korgath Report post Posted August 11, 2003 I'm just waiting for the DUSTY FINISH! THREE DAYS LATE! The Bisch will come out on RAW and say that Booker NEVER won the title in the first place! It was ALWAYS Christian's all along! WHAT A SWERVE! EDIT: Forgive me, but this is the worst news I've heard all day. The IC is really, truly buried now. Guest Korrosive Report post Posted August 11, 2003 From the sounds of it, Booker is pretty fucked. Also, from the sounds of it....it seems like Vinny Mack pulled the same stunt on Booker that he did on Dynamite Kid...the match where Dynamite was forced to wrestle when he couldn't even walk. That damn Vince.
Guest Fook Report post Posted August 11, 2003 Except for Booker's injury, this could almost be considered a blessing in disguise. This could get people back into the habit of believing that worthwhile events actually occur at house shows and lead to higher ticket sales.
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 It should have been the tag titles but having a title change on a house show will help build attendence if there is a chance of a title change. I admit that the title should have a stronger image before something like this is done. Edit: You beat me.

I admit that the title should have a stronger image before something like this is done. It wasn't done for the sake of changing the titles...It was too get the title off an injuried Booker... Sure you could go "Why not on Raw"? but I figured they went...Well let's do a house show change to make it seem more signifciant...

Plus, if the match ended up being the absolute drizzling shits due to Booker's health, only a few thousand people would have seen it instead of millions worldwide. Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 11, 2003 The matches were already the drizzling shits...
Adam 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 I should think that Booker was in immense pain and had to drop it rigth then and there. He's probably going to see a specialist in the next couple of days, and X will be announced the Champ on RAW. Get Well Soon Book.

LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 ... When will Booker T ever get a break in WWE? NEver...the guy's got terrible Karma Hopefully if Christian is gonna be the IC champ again he can actually win some matches, maybe even a couple of them cleanly. I wouldnt mind seeing Christian vs. Hurricane at SS
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 I'm not thinking right lately due to being overworked. The fact that Booker was injured totally slipped right out of my mind. This was probably the best thing they could have done in the situation. Hopefully Booker can come back from this but I honestly think if this is serious, he might just hang it up. After all he has said he plans on retiring soon and at his age he might not be able to make it back.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 Booker deserves better. I hope he takes time off to get healthy again and to make a return. This still makes Christian look like a weak champion. Not many saw the title change, and he's looked really weak in his other matches against Booker. They should have had the title stripperd, and Xian go over someone on Raw to make him more credible. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted August 11, 2003 This is interesting that they did it on a house show. It'll be interesting to see how much they advertise this fact on TV. First and foremost though, I hope Booker can get healthy again. Well, as healthy as a wrestler can get. Quote Chocken One "The matches were already the drizzling s****" No, they weren't. The matches weren't the best of all time but they were good quality wrestling.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 That SUCKS. Christian is an awful wrestler and doesn't deserve to be the champion. I hope Book gets well soon

Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 11, 2003 How so? Booker unless carried by a Jesus Like performer is so fucking plain and boring... The fact you guys wanted him to be the World Champion sickens me...
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted August 11, 2003 Quote Chocken One "Chinlockery=good wrestling?" Christian is one of the best bumpers in the WWE. Combined with some good false teases in their matches, I say the Booker T and Christian matches were good.
