Crimson Platypus 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 The J.R./King announcing duo KILLS any enjoyment I have for RAW. 1. Talking about the main event during matches earlier on in the show needs to stop. As if we don't 3 segments in the first hour hyping the ME, we have to listen to Ross' verbal cocksucking of whomever is in the ME all night. 2. King is more immature than my 3 year old niece. He is terrible, and just doesn't compare to Tazz. In fact, it's an insult to even mention them in the same sentence (sorry Tazz). Lately the only thing that RAW has been good for is a cure for my insomnia (sp), and that's not a joke, Monday is really the only day of the week that I get to sleep early. humongous2002 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 Shawn Michaels...I was happy to see him come back and put on good matches. But with the Clique it seems like the first purpose of every show is to make each member look good and everything else is secondary. Time for him to do some clean jobs to the guys he's burying now. Not that I necessarily disagree with the rest of your points, but how has HBK been burying anyone since he came back? And please don't say Jericho at Mania. The wrong guy might've went over, but I wouldn't call it a full-fledged burial. That honor goes to HHH and Booker. Anyhow, I know where you're coming from as a long time fan getting too fed up to care, so my advice to you is do what I did last year- stop watching. Not permanently, just take a good six months off and you'll come back refreshed. You still might not be happy, but you'll be able to take the bullshit they're showing with a grain of salt and eventually you'll get back into it. Sometimes a break can do you good. He's burying other much deserving wrestlers by stealing their main event spot instead of doing a few matches here and there while keeping away from the world title picture or just fuckin' retire and give your spot to RVD or Jericho. notJames 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 The problem I have with RAW right now is that I have almost nobody to care about doing anything remotely important or interesting. The top of the card is full of mediocre has-beens and never-weres except Jericho, and they've given him dick to do. Sure, his Highlight Reel is entertaining, but he's had nobody even remotely interesting on the segment that I care about. And they've misused all the midcard talent I used to like so much that I can't be bothered to watch their segments. I won't get into the announce team, as it's all been said before. The only characters even remotely appealing to me are the women who can actually wrestle. So unless you can fill an hour with just the ladies, I guess I'll keep watching RAW-FFWD, courtesy of VCR technology. That way I only waste about 20 minutes of my Monday nights rather than an entire two hours.
Guest JericholicEdgeHead Report post Posted August 12, 2003 RAW has become so sloppy and poorly booked that it has become pretty much unwatchable. I could care less about 90% of the RAW roster, and I am sick and tired of everything booked on the fly, which seems to be the norm for RAW. I am also tired of so much TV time and attention focused non wrestling characters like Steve Austin, Eric Bishoff, Shane McMahon, and even Jim Ross. What happened to the WRESTLERS being the stars of the show?? The tag-team divison is the worst in history of WWF/WWE as far as I'm concerned. The Kane storyline is a booked on the fly mess. They use most of the mid-card as comic relief, as they have ruined Lance Storm, Shane Helms, Stevie Richards. And the rest I could care less about like Rodney Mack, Rosey, Test, Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, ect. They have treated the I-C Title as a joke or after thought again. The women's divison is ok but their matches seem way too "scripted" and "fake" for a fake and scripted show. But that's not saying much since RAW seems WAY TOO scripted than a wrestling show should be. One of the only reasons I even watch RAW anymore is because of Chris Jericho and the possibality of seeing Flair put on a decent match with someone. I'll even go on record as saying the WWF in 1994-1996 was better than what we have now, at least with RAW. Back then the Titles still meant something and the matches seemed more important and got more focus. They didn't have near as much talent as they do now but they were used alot better rather than the "hot-shot-booked on the fly-sports entertainment" I see now. It's time for the comic book/comedy writers to get out and bring in some actual WRESTLING writers/bookers.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 The Kane angle was the only angle on RAW that I had actually cared about in some time. I was into it. They've managed to make me care at most only a fourth of what I did about the angle in just 2 weeks. How? By focusing the show on (surprise!) HHH and Goldberg. SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 I'll even go on record as saying the WWF in 1994-1996 was better than what we have now, at least with RAW. That Kevin Nash title reign in 1995 was terrible. I'd rather watch Lance Storm back stage antics then anything involving the WWF in 1995
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 Like I said, I like Kane as a slobbering idiot killer. But I wish they would leave management characters out of his angle.
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 True but by tombstoning Linda and setting Jim Ross on fire he became the ultimate heel. Just by feuding with RVD that wouldn't have happened.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 But he's not a heel... .. is he?? I mean, he's still getting cheered.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 But he's not a heel... .. is he?? I mean, he's still getting cheered. By that logic Ric Flair is an uberface. The crowd's a little split on Kane...think it has to do with the fact that not as many people care about JR and Linda as the WWE would like us to believe
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 By the logic of: cheers = face boos = heel ??
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 Jim Ross got a couple of huge pops from the crowd last night though. As long as Jim Ross gets set on fire, taunted, or beat down then it was a good week for raw.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 God that JR card has been played way too much. Regal and Storm beat up on JR Bischoff beats up on JR Kane beats up on JR In like 6 fucking months!
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 And he's quick to forgive as well...Austin can whoop his ass twice a week and 5 months later he'll go on and on about what a great man he is.
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 It's been done a lot but I still mark for Jim Ross getting beat down. It really doesn't matter who's giving the beat down to Jim Ross as long as he gets dismantled that gives me enjoyment.
A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 Yeah, I'm really starting to cut back on my wrestling viewing. I used to watch every show almost religiously back in 2000 and whatever, but now its like "eh, I missed the first hour of raw". Another thing that bothers me is the production right now. These guys used to be so good with the camera angles being showed at texactly the right time, and everything was in depth...now we see a tombstone clearly missing by a half foot. And then we see the supposed number one good guy make his entrance from a storage closet full of brooms and dusty shelves. Whatever.
