Farewells, goodbyes, etc.......

I really don't know why people feel the need to write a "goodbye" thread when they decide that they no longer want to post on a forum. Whether they get pissed off or life just becomes busy. Is the long "goodbye" really necessary? Just pondering......

i think the thing with this newest one is that the guy didn't want to hunt through his miriad other threads to respond to the people who flamed/spoofed him for his recent troubles, along with saying goodbye. I don't know.

Nobody puts effort into internet message boards anymore. I've been in Munich recording my next album for the past month, but I still found the time to post every day.

Anywoo, I think the reason why people make the huge posts for goodbyes, is because they consider this place another community (isn't it?) that they visit and know people, and feel that they need to give the community a little kindness of respect that they deserve for putting up with that themselves.

 

That or they just feel like it is something they should do.

No effort isn't required. I wasn't in Munich, as you have probably guessed, I was hoping to juxtapose the untruthfulness of that statement with the statement that no one puts effort into message boards, thereby drawing the conclusion that effort is, in fact, unnecessary. The implication being that long winded goodbyes are unnecessary effort.

 

I chose Munich specifically so that I would have a follow up. If anyone had commented on that particular city, I would have said "New York, London, Paris, Munich... everybody was talking about pop music." in reference to the Devo song, "Pop Music". I like to make quirky references like that.

Some of the reasoning in the goodbye speeches is absurd. They're like "I'm going to college so I won't have time". Like school really takes up that much ttime. As soon as they get bored after a week or two, they'll be back.

You never know: if I get hit by a bus on my way to lunch, I might never post here again. And you can't be too careful, eh?

If I ever leave for good it will be over 5 to 6 threads just because of the word limit. I would address each and ever registered poster on the thread personally, from Brickwall and Polkeroo to Choken and TSA.

 

Even the ones I know NOTHING about, they will get a line. Then I will go on a long rant about how the world has done me wrong and that when my plan is done, the world will remember me. It would all probably (and I do mean PROBABLY) be bullshit, but I think that you should always leave with a cryptic message. It makes people remember you more. I alway threaten to fill the streets with the blood of the non-believers instead of saying "Bye" when I get off the phone.

 

But thats just my 2 cents. I'm leaving now.

You've opened my eyes ... the multiple goodbye threads might be insufficient.

 

So, I've just made plans with Jeebus to allow me a 5-minute window to log onto a PC in Heaven (hopefully - if not, here's hoping hell has a highspeed connection) and say goodbye to everyone here at TSM.

 

Thus, my goodbye post will be sent from beyond the grave.

Upon investigation, Devo did not cover Pop Muzik, and I in fact spelled the name of the song wrong, but damn if it doesn't sound like them. So for fun I made something up to act like I knew it all along. My previous post was in code, and here's the key:

Devo did cover "Head Like a Hole" and "Satisfaction", a song by the Rolling Stones. Rolling is a song by Limp Bizkit, and slang for being under the influence of ecstasy, commonly referred to as XTC. XTC had a song called "Dear God."

 

So what I was really saying was 'Thanks Incandenza. I had a head like a hole because I was rolling and stoned. Dear God, I'm limp!'
