Use Your Illusion Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Last time I heard he suffered a really nasty gash in his arm from wrestling Shane Douglas at an XPW show. What were the severities of this injury? Does anyone know if the Funker is still actively wrestling? I haven't heard anything about him in a long time, and I'm curious as to where the hell he went. UYI
bob_barron Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Funk is still wrestling all over the world. He wrestlers for 3PW and MLW and various indies across the country

bob_barron Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Terry Funk is 59. He turns 60 next June
Use Your Illusion Posted August 24, 2003 Author Report Posted August 24, 2003 That would make him the oldest active wrestler in America wouldn't it? Oh hold on, there's that Abdullah maniac as well...
Guest Choken One Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Doesn't he have a BBQ Joint in Atlanta?
Use Your Illusion Posted August 24, 2003 Author Report Posted August 24, 2003 Barron now officially knows FUCKING EVERYTHING. All the more power to Funker though, I love him and I'm glad he's still out there doing what he loves. UYI
Youth N Asia Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 But unlike Abby he still moves in the ring. Abby is just brawl, go to the outside, blood blood fork, drop the elbow, 1-2-3. I love Funk...but I don't have the heart to watch him anymore.
bob_barron Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Doesn't he have a BBQ Joint in Atlanta? Yes- Abby runs Abby's House of Ribs in Atlanta. He recently worked ICW in New York on July 18th against Louie Ramos. Abdullah actually faced Terry Funk at one of the most recent MLW shows- it was a total bloodbath.
Guest Choken One Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Well...Damn...Bob is schooled in the Funk/Butcher department.

Well, I remember feeling awful for him when he wrestled for WCW in 2000, just in the way he had deterriorated so badly over the years. I can't imagine what he'd be like now, not having seeing him work in about 3 years, but chances are I'd still mark like a bitch, Funker always had that affect on me. UYI
bob_barron Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Yea- If I saw the Funker I would probably mark out like crazy. I can't believe that he still goes out there and does crazy shit and bleeds a gusher on the indy scenes
Rendclaw Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Lawler and Funk are going to wrestle on an MLW card in St Pete... in fact I think it already happened since it was to take place tonight.
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Judging by his recent MLW matches, he isn't TOTAL SHIT, but he's definitely in need of full time retirement. Damn MLW. I wanted to see Abby v. Funk. Now I have to buy that DVD too since I didn't tape most of the shows matches anyay.
bob_barron Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 They did. Jerry Lawler won the match but then the Extreme Horsemen turned on him. Funk bled buckets
Steviekick Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 Even though the Funker isn't in his best shape, I still mark out everytime I see him wrestle. He's one of my all time favorites. As long as he's out there, I'll support him because he always gives it his best and truly likes what he's doing.
Guest Jesse Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 I was front row for the last 2 MLW shows, so I had a good view of Funk's matches with Abby and Lawler. The Abby matchwas a bloodbath. Terry was gushing blood before he even got in the ring. At one point, Abby was slicing him with a broken beer bottle. The Lawler match was actually a very good brawl. Both guys took piledrivers on the floor, and Lawler wrapped his fist in barbed wire and tore Terry up. Blood everywhere. I've had the opportunity to talk to Terry at both of these shows and he's a hell of a nice guy.
Use Your Illusion Posted August 24, 2003 Author Report Posted August 24, 2003 You got to meet Terry Funk? Wow, that's pretty major. Funker has been doing these bloodbath-type matches for almost as long as I can remember. Is the standard procedure a blood transfusion after a match as bloody as some Funker has been in? I swear to God, I've seen him covered, head to toe, in his own blood on too many occasions. UYI

Guest Jesse Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 You got to meet Terry Funk? Wow, that's pretty major. Agreed. The shirt he signed for me and the picture I took with him are both in frames in my living room.
Guest Breetai Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 So can he still do moonsaults at (virtually) 60?
Steviekick Posted August 24, 2003 Report Posted August 24, 2003 No clue. Although I remember reading an interview with him saying that he tries to save them for special occassions, for what it's worth.
Use Your Illusion Posted August 24, 2003 Author Report Posted August 24, 2003 No clue. Although I remember reading an interview with him saying that he tries to save them for special occassions, for what it's worth. His knees were fucked to the point he was told by doctors to just stop wrestling altogether, yet alone MOONSAULTS, in 1997 If he can still physically do them, I would imagine he'd be quite sore the next morning.
Guest The Rising Star Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 That "moonsault" is sloppy. Not Tiger Mask-sloppy, but Vader does it better. What the hell happened to Vader? Is he in NOAH in Japan?
Steviekick Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 I could've sworn that Funk did a moonsault in his WCW stint.

Is he in NOAH in Japan? Last time I heard of Vader he ran in on a TNA show. I have no clue as to his whereabouts now, in fact I'm unsure how his TNA tenure ended either.
Placebo Effect Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 Last time I heard of Vader he wobbled in on a TNA show. Fixed that for you.
Steviekick Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 Vader is hiding in the white castle of fear.
