Youth N Asia Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 I am dead ass tired of non wresters taking up tv time for wrestling angles. But if that's not bad enough we get Coach vs JR at the ppv? When Coach walked to the ring Monday you could have heard a pin drop. He got no response from the crowd at all...oh, and he's not a wrestler. But Shane gets to kick Kane's ass every other week, so it's not a stretch for Coach to go over the boys too...except that what I just said was fucking retarded. I thought with these split ppvs that some guys would get ppv time who usually wouldn't...but it's just the same stupid shit.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 They feel they need to break-up the wrestling on the PPV with different attractions - if its not Austin/Bischoff Redneck Challenge, its a Bar-room brawl, and now its Coach vs. JR. I can see their thinking behind it from a logical 'on paper' perspective (essentially a pacing thing), but I agree it goes against everything they said about talent getting opportunities.
Guest Fook Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 I guess when they said that split ppvs would allow for more talent to shine, they didn't mean actual talent.
Guest wwF1587 Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 im actually happy they are going through with this because now I am completely SOLD on NOT buying the ppv thus saving 35 dollars YET AGAIN this month. I cant wait to see the buyrates for Unforgiven... talk about FUNNY.
Ultimo Dugas Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 As long as Jericho has a decent opponent I'm still going to the sports bar to watch it.
evilhomer Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 This goes with the entire sports "entertainment" that they're striving for. A compelling non-wrestling storyline with a good plot and good performers is a nice break from the usual matches. However this shit that looks like it was written on a cocktail napkin at last call guaran-damn-tees that I'm skipping Unforgiven.
Guest Anglesault Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 This, Kane/Shane and Suckbag/HBK leave me with no reason to watch this how
cynicalprofit Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Man this feud was so much better when it was Mark Madden vs Gene Okerland. Maybe well get lucky again and Madden, aka JR, will have his shirt removed. Hope you havent pissed of Vince recently JR.
Guest Loss Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 If Jericho and Christian are starting a feud and end up having a match at Unforgiven, that will be the only worthwhile match on the show, but I don't know if that's going to happen.
dubq Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Coach vs JR on a RAW only ppv isn't going to be more than five or six minutes. Stop your whining.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Plus, if we assume HHH vs. Goldberg goes no more than 10mins, that still eaves a lot of time for other matches - perhaps more than the 8 that they like to set-up for a PPV without long gimmick matches.
J. Hungerford Smith Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 And after last night it looks like we'll be seeing Test vs. Steiner again!
Youth N Asia Posted September 2, 2003 Author Report Posted September 2, 2003 Coach vs JR on a RAW only ppv isn't going to be more than five or six minutes. Stop your whining. 6 minutes that could be used for Dreamer vs Richards
cynicalprofit Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Hell Lilian Garcia needs a match too.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 the split seems to be all about those few Handful of Main event established talent being free not to defend themselves against every other guy but only a handful. HHH is concerned he mopped the floor with every Raw Main eventer and now probably will job to Goldberg. Angle got Brock, Taker, Big Show and thats it.
Guest Anglesault Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Coach vs JR on a RAW only ppv isn't going to be more than five or six minutes. Stop your whining. Why is it on the show at all?
Repo Man jr Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Coach vs JR on a RAW only ppv isn't going to be more than five or six minutes. Stop your whining. 6 minutes that could be used for Dreamer vs Richards If its any consolation, you can see that match every week on Heat!
MARTYEWR Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 The way Unforgiven is shaping up, it's like they know they can't compete against your average Sunday Night NFL game, so they're not even trying anymore.
NoCalMike Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 it's bad enough how much time Austin gets on Raw who is by all means a NON-wrestler now. Not to mention his more sissy-version of himself, but we have to sit through Coach/JR. I just have to wonder if there is any type of discussion or debate on the writing team before this crap gets inked in. I mean are you telling me that it is a unanimous decision in the back to have a JR/Coach match at the ppv?

He NEEDS a critic of his work on the payroll immediately. But he doesn't want to hear bad news, so it'll never happen. -=Mike --- it's sad that I almost want Russo back
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Maybe they should put a headset on both JR and Coach so they can commentate during their own match. JR: OH BAH GAWD! DAMN THAT COACH! HE HAS ME IN QUITE THE PREDICAMENT. Coach: Oh that's right JR. Coach in da haaawse. I got this headlock on TIIIIIGHT!
Guest Choken One Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 why russo when you got two master writers in Heyman and Cornette under your disposal... Those two ran two succesful business on the quality of the product alone until their shoddy business management fucked them... Put Heyman on Raw (if he can make ecw work...raw is a PIECE OF CAKE) and Cornette will old school Smackdown... Put Ace under Cornette and Gerwitz under Heyman... Put Dreamer with Heyman as creative and Get Patterson as the creative for Cornette.
King Cucaracha Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 They need to add Snow and Lawler and make it a tag match. At least those two are 'half workers'. Plus I'm a Snow mark. That is all.
AndrewTS Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Man this feud was so much better when it was Mark Madden vs Gene Okerland. Maybe well get lucky again and Madden, aka JR, will have his shirt removed. Hope you havent pissed of Vince recently JR. At least that wasn't on PPV.
AndrewTS Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Hell Lilian Garcia needs a match too. Tub of Jell-o match where she faces Vicky, gets thrown around a lot, and is pinned in two minutes. That > JR vs. Coach by a million miles.
Gert T Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 I think Goldberg-HHH will go longer than 8 minutes. If we use our HHH conspiracy theories, HHH will want a long match that will bomb with the crowd sending the Goldberg title push spiraling down, for his big comeback.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Another $35 saved this month. JR, Coach, Shane, the Frenchies and possibly Test and Steiner all (will) have matches at a split PPV...sounds like we should begin speculating what the next SD PPV card will be.
Guest Retro Rob Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Coach vs JR on a RAW only ppv isn't going to be more than five or six minutes. Stop your whining. 6 minutes that could be used for Dreamer vs Richards As much as I hate to say it, sadly Dreamer-Richards won't be attracting any more buys than JR-Coach would. Those two have been neglected for years now and are more or less worthless.
AndrewTS Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I think Goldberg-HHH will go longer than 8 minutes. If we use our HHH conspiracy theories, HHH will want a long match that will bomb with the crowd sending the Goldberg title push spiraling down, for his big comeback. Oh, I'm certain of it. He'll probably do no offense for quite a while, so Goldberg has to use his limited moves all up, and we might get something similar to Steiner's dozen Belly to Belly suplexes again. The fans will turn on him when he does his 6th spear or so and HHH is just bumping for him, and he isn't getting the job done, then they crap all over the match. If that was guaranteed, it would almost be worth it. Another $35 saved this month. JR, Coach, Shane, the Frenchies and possibly Test and Steiner all (will) have matches at a split PPV...sounds like we should begin speculating what the next SD PPV card will be. Kurt vs. Eddy, Cena vs. Chavo, SPWGTT vs. Kidman/Tajiri, Rey vs. Nunzio (for 8 minutes or so), Benoit vs. Rhyno?
Guest Coffey Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I wouldn't say that they are worthless, but I definitely know what you're talking about. Dreamer seemed to be catching on when he was the Hardcore Champion. Then the WWE merged the title with the Intercontinental Title. They aren't worthless, but they are jobbers in the eyes of marks. I'm sure that's what you meant though. They have been buried so much that they are looked at like losers. It's sad. It really, really is. Both men are more than capable of putting on good matches and entertaining crowds. I loved Tommy Dreamer in his feud with Raven in ECW. That proves to me that Dreamer can be entertaining. I like Al Snow when he was the European Champion. When he would come out with his theme song in different languages with pictures of Tony Danza and whatnot, he was entertaining to me. That proves to me that Snow could be entertaining. Will the WWE ever see the light? It's apparent that the WWE is a McMahon owned company. If they want to remain successful, you would think that they would use the talent that they actual pay instead of just letting your kids role-play.
