Semi Confirmed Flair DVD Matches

Recommended Posts

Yeah, you're right bravesfan, they're the WWE, they're not that fucking stupid.

*smart ass grin w/ laughter*

It IS the primary reason we're receiving profile DVDs that are focused on wrestlers who made their living outside of the "Attitude Era WWF".

Case in point:

Rey Mysterio, Jr. (all matches were after the settlement).

HBK (no recorded matches during the Attitude Era).

It's a negative for any upcoming releases of a Kurt Angle/Chris Jericho DVD (again, primarily WWF work).

I would expect at least clips of Flair vs Perfect to be in the biography portion of the DVD. With any luck the full match will be on there too, but I don't see how they can leave it out as it was his last WWF match.

I'll wait for a real matchlist before I comment, but here is what I expect to see on it:

vs Vince McMahon, Royal Rumble 2002

vs Undertaker, WrestleMania X-8

vs Vince McMahon, Raw 2002 (Vince wins complete control)

vs Eddie Guerrero, King of the Ring 2002

vs Randy Savage, WrestleMania 8

vs HBK, Bad Blood 2003

vs somebody from early 80s

vs somebody from early 90s

Yep.

WWE The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection will be released on November 18, 2003, and it is a 3-disc DVD. That is not a typo. The Flair Collection is a THREE DISC DVD!

if WWE would smart they'd go the Hogan route and put like 10-12 matches on each DVD.

But most of Flairs matches (that ruled)were from 30-50 minutes.

IMO here's what sohuld go on it(WWE and smark POV):

Flair/Race - Starcade 83

Flair/Windham - Worldwide(one that took up the whole show)

Flair/Steamboat - 2/3 Falls

Flair/Vader - Starcade 93

Flair/Perfect - Raw

Flair/Savage - WM8

Rumble Match 92

Flair/Luger - Starcade 88

Flair/Sting - Pick your Poison

Wargames 1

Flair & Arn/Hollywood Blondes - Clash 23

Horsemen stuff

And then for extras:

Flair/Steamboat - Chi-Town Rumble

Flair/HHH - Raw(for the post match shit)

Flair & Windham/Midnights - Clash 4

Flair/Morton - Not sure from which show the build to it was Flair breaking Ricky's nose

Flair/Hogan - MSG 91

Flair/Bret - Title change

Flair/Arn - Fallbrawl 95(only time ever)

Flair/Sting - Final Nitro(sentimental value)

Flair/Steamboat - WCW saturday Night 1994(Stampede rematch)

a few other rare matches none of us have seen

Now THAT'S a DVD I would buy.

I knew that the first post of matches was a lie. Like I said, did anyone really think Triple H was gonna let him get such shitty treatment. I'm guessing that it will be a From the Vault dvd, so with that thinking I'm assuming it will be five matches per DVD (since there will be tons of interviews and other stuff along with it...I hope). I bet it will look like this:

Disc 1:

First World Title Win

Flair vs. Sting (CotC)

Flair vs. Steamboat (CotC)

Flair vs. Steamboat (WrestleWar)

Flair vs. Funk (GAB)

Disc 2:

Royal Rumble 92

Flair vs. Macho (WM8)

Flair vs. Hennig

Flair vs. Vader (Starrcade 93)

Flair vs. Arn (Fall Brawl 95)

Disc 3:

Flair vs. Sting (Final Nitro)

Flair vs. Vince (Rumble 02)

Flair vs. Taker (WM18)

Flair vs. Triple H (Raw)

Flair vs. HBK (Bad Blood was it?)

Anyway, i have a feeling it will look something like this more then not. I wouldn't be too disapointed, but I guess there is much better they could have used.

WWE owns the entire NWA library...the whole thing. I know because I once checked with their legal department.

Eh? Where did you get this from?

The Rey DVD had 6 matches from before the settlement.

Yeah, but he wasn't in WWF from 1998-2001, therefore they didn't have to edit the "scratch logo" out of any of the footage.

Er, no.

The WWE owns what's available/exists of the JCP and AWA libraries. They were also in negotiations to get what was available from Bill Watts, but I don't know if they did acquire that.

Further, they couldn't own everything that was available from all the various promotions under the NWA banner.

Most, if not all, footage from Georgia and Florida is gone. Florida, in particular, was dumped in the garbage at its demise.

Kevin Von Erich, I believe, has the World Class collection. I also think I recall there being a specific owner of the Detroit films.

There's also the problem of what exists in what Vince does have. A whole bunch of early Flair in Mid-Atlantic is gone. Nobody thought the future and chucked or recorded over a good many films. I doubt there's much available before 1980.

I don't think WWE has the rights to Flair's first World title win. They have rights to the 2nd(Race at Starcade).

I'm not sure footage of Flair's first victory even exists, at least in complete form.
