Guest Italian Stallion Report post Posted September 10, 2003 I came back a few days ago from Jersey. When I lived there, I know a friend. His dad worked at the Pentagon. He was a really nice guy. I knew him for a very long time. He was seriously like a second father to me. He looked out for me when I needed him and no one else was around to help. He was one who lost their life that day. Its hard for me deal with this and I can't even amagine of how it must have felt for anyone who lost someone in their family. I dont know how many of you lost someone you know, was hurt or even watched it happen, but I know how hard it is and I guess I just wanted to say for anyone who even had to witness it live and in person that my thoughts are with you. Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted September 11, 2003 (edited) Didn't you get the memo, We aren't supposed to make a big deal about 9/11 anymore, so that we can show the rest of the World were over it. At least that's what I read... Edited September 11, 2003 by Boo_Bradley
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I'm trying not to really think about it to be honest with you. Last year was just an awful day as I was just depressed the whole time. This year I'm going to think of the present and the future instead of becoming depressed about the past
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 On 9/11, I woke up, went up to the kitchen, turned on the telly... and saw a plane fly into the WTC. What a way to wake up. I almost immediately got in contact with a friend who was living in Chicago at the time, I feared that whoever was attacking us would hit ALL the major cities, and I was worried since she lived close to downtown Chicago. This was also the day my keyboard tray collapsed as I wrote my opinions on the subject in the news section of... theSmarks forum, which technically makes tommorow my 2 year anniversary on these boards. thankfully (for me), I didn't know anybody who died. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 It's a day with an 8 AM Class that I still haven't had the chance to prepare for tonight. I will remember those who were lost and pray for our country and the families that will mourn and remember today. But it can't stop the world from going around every year. All cliches aside, they really do gain a small victory that way.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I wasn't awake when everything happened. My mom came home from work to grab the little 6-inch television to bring to work, and she woke me up to tell me.

Adam 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 well it all happened while I was asleep here in Aus, I woke up and my mum told me that America had been attacked. I feared the worst straight away, that nuclear war was only hours away. The day just went so slow, I didn't turn off the TV, or the radio, basically just watchin CNN every change I got. I got sick of it after a day, so I basically watched wrestling for 2 weeks. I couldn't stand the hate, the mourning, so I shut it out.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 On the eve of 9/11/2001 (Monday), I had begun my first day at work. Getting home at about 6:30, I almost immediately dropped onto my bed and fall asleep soundly. Eerily, I had woken up at 3:30 A.M. HST. Admittedly, I don't wake up ANYTIME before 7:00 A.M., so this was seriously strange. I had wondered into my mother's room to check out the morning shows - much to my dismay, I had tuned in just in time to see Tower #2 hit. To clarify, by "just tuned in", I mean "first scene out of the television". It scared me shitless, because it felt like a terrible dream caused from the day before. Immediately waking up my mother, I became transfixed to the scene until my ride to school came. Classes were mostly cancelled for the most part, with a television set-up in every classroom to keep everyone informed. From school straight to the television at home, I finally turned it off after 10:00 - I had finally had my mental limit.
Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I was driving to school when it happened. I was listening to the radio and the DJ's said something about a plane crashing in a building. Thinking they was making some sort of joke, I changed stations. The DJ's there said that a plane had crashed into the WTC. I didn't think anything of this, thought it was one of those small planes, turned off the radio and went to class. I asked a couple of people about it, but they thought I was joking about it. Finally this one girl came in late, and she told me that a crash had happened at the WTC, and it was by 2 hijacked airliner jets. Well I couldn't wait for class to end then. Finally got out, turned on the radio, and that's when I realized how deep this shit really was. For the next 2 hours, I just watched the news, heard about all this stuff that was going on, till I had to go to work. I was starting a new job that day, and I went to work. Everybody who came in had a different reaction to it. Some people were angry, some were sad, other were scared. It was a very surreal experience.

The Dames 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 Seeing as how I've chronicled my experience with 9/11 enough times here on TSM, I don't want to write it all out again. I know it isn't healthy, but I'm currently watching coverage on it right now. It still makes me very sad. Rest in Peace to all those who lost their lives on that day. Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 Ahh yes... September 11th, 2001 a day that none of us will ever forget. I remember the day, kinda like it was yesterday. I was on the computer at the time, and hadn't turned on the TV, since there isn't very much to watch in the morning, typically. I was talking to someone on AIM, and they told me about it, then I proceed to turn on the TV, and then sure enough, there it was, coverage of the events that had happened, etc. I watched coverage for a while, but seeing the people falling from the buildings was enough to push me past the breaking point as far as watching the coverage goes. I couldn't stand to watch it any more, after that. Thankfully, I didn't have any family or friends who died on that day.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I posted something in the 9/11 thread in the Current Events folder, I do recall feeling bad that day, now I feel much worse. But, forgeting 9/11 is not the only that's hurting me, I have more guilt building up. RIP to all the victims.
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 Is 9/11 going to be our JFK? Columbine actually struck me harder because I was only 11 at the time, and seeing the kids fleeing the school and jumping out of windows will forever be etched in my mind. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I remember getting up to the sound of my roommate telling me that we were getting bombed, and I thought he was full of shit until I went across the hall and looked at the TV. The nine of us that basically lived together just sat there for the better part of the day, getting stoned, just watching everything happen. My buddy Mike was going to go out and join the Marines that day, but his girlfriend talked him out of it. It was really nice outside, too.
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I was in school, Critical Writing Class, and a friend of mine walked in late, mentioning something about planes crashing in New York and Washington. None of us had ANY idea what he was talking about and just kind of went "ya, uh-huh" and went on with class. about 10 minutes later the teacher, who was on the computer while we were writing, yells "HOLY SHIT". We all ran over there and saw the images of the towers on fire. Needless to say we were all pretty shocked. Right before the end of class, we heard reports that the first tower had come down. We weren't even sure we believed that was possible. Administrators got on the PA system and kept us updated the rest of the day while we all kind of went through the motions of school. We were getting like 4th hand information, so I didn't really find out the details till I got home. I won't be watching any TV today, because I really don't care to see the news networks use 9/11 "memorials" as a way to compete for ratings.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I agree Columbine was likely more scary because we've been sheltered to believe that a Upper White Class community you wouldn't see that type of thing...

I believe that the big three are using just the standard one hour retrospective instead of the 3 hour bloc like last year...UPN of course will have SD and Mullets... Mullets, In time might turn to be the TRUE 9/11 catastrophe... *The above was a joke and I wasn't trying to offend anyone

Guest SP-1 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I remember that I was in my Biology Lab. Or rather, we were about to begin. A girl came in and said that she saw on a TV in a lounge or something that a plane had hit the WTC. At first we all just thought it was an accident or something, since we had no TV in the room and things were proceeding as normal. We began talking about other possibilities and I remember attempting to quell fears by saying that if it were a major war-like attack, they'd go after something like the White House or the Pentagon. I would find out later that a plane had buried itself in the Pentagon building. I felt terrible. I think for alot of people 9/11 will indeed become our JFK. I just refuse to let it become a huge, depressing day every year. Rememberance and prayer, certainly, but I won't stop my life for it.

Eclipse 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 I wrote a detailed one last 9/11. I could have had 2 cousins die in WTC. One had to to go the 90th floor for a job interview...but decided not to go. Another had to head to work, above the 70th floor. She entered as the plane hit.
cynicalprofit 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 Wasn't difficult for me. Just another day and another missed chance for America to turn around, but nope, we lost any sense when we started to over price flags, and sell 100$ ceramic statues of the towers. Fuck you America.
