OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 In an article posted today by ABC News, Kurt Angle talks about his role as spokesman for the "Get Tough On Angina" program, and his family's struggle with heart disease over the years. The article was posted today, and includes mention of Angle's sister having a heart attack at age 41, but does not mention her passing earlier this week. The quotes from Angle were from an interview conducted this past weekend, before her passing. The article also discusses Angle's wrestling career, and quotes Angle on the possibility of a match with Bret Hart. "I'd love to step in the ring with Bret Hart," Angle said. "Many consider him the greatest wrestler of the 20th century and some have said I'm the greatest wrestler of the new millennium. So, I'd like to put out an open invitation to Bret Hart." 1wrestling.com
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 18, 2003 Of Course Bret would accept the match in a heartbeat....Only a match with Angle or Lesnar, would bring back Bret if he could.

The Dames 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 It would definitely be one of the better matches of the century if Bret was in his prime and gave Angle some tips on selling. It's quite sad that it'll probably never come to fruition though. Dames

razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 Well WWE would screw this match up by limiting both Angle and Hart to only using two moves.......hell this could be more boring than the Iron Man match Brett had with HBK.

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 I still contest Angle/owen would be better How about a 1 night tournament...Owen Hart, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, and Chris Benoit?

The Dames 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 I still contest Angle/owen would be better If they let them go all out, yes...however: Angle/Bret would probably be booked as a face vs. face encounter to see who the best wrestler would be, therefore, the match would end in a clean finish and be more about counters and things like that. Angle/Owen would be face vs. heel, which more often than not in Owen's case consisted of Owen being on offense for a while and losing because of some heel shenanigans. If it ended clean, it would most likely be an Angle victory, while the Angle/Bret match could go either way. Dames
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 Of Course Bret would accept the match in a heartbeat....Only a match with Angle or Lesnar, would bring back Bret if he could. Bret has stated in past interviews and commentaries that if he were to come back for one last match it would more likely then not be against Chris Benoit. Lesnar vs Hart would be good but Angle vs Bret or Benoit vs Bret is where it's at.

JN News 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 I read on Crawthon's website that Kurt Angle DID wrestle Owen Hart in a dark match prior to Owen's death.

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 I read on Crawthon's website that Kurt Angle DID wrestle Owen Hart in a dark match prior to Owen's death. But that was back before Angle honed his skills, and didn't become as good as he is now. Note, to all those people that like to complain about how everyone says Angle can do no wrong...I never said that. I just said he's better now than when he faced Owen. art_vandelay 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 Well WWE would screw this match up by limiting both Angle and Hart to only using two moves.......hell this could be more boring than the Iron Man match Brett had with HBK. They'd probably ruin the match by making Vince the special guest referee or something. There's no way they won't rub SS97 all over it. What am I saying? There's no way any of this will happen anyway because BRET HART WILL NOT WRESTLE AGAIN. Last I heard, the guy doesn't even have 100% mobility. I wouldn't want any man in his condition to take any bumps in a fucking wrestling ring.
jester 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 If both parties were healthy, I would love to see this match. Err...make that "if both parties were healthy and Vince didn't add some stupid sportz entertainment angle, probably involving a McMahon"

Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 Bah. The money match is still Bret Hart v. Vince McMahon, dammit. As much as I hate Vince wrestling, I'd pay good money to see Bret make him bleed like a stuck pig.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted September 18, 2003 Whoever thought that Michaels would be back? Quite a few people. Hell, alot of people thought (and still think) that HBK's injury wasn't as bad as he made out, but he left because he knew his top spot was gone. Bret's injury is totally different. He ain't gonna wrestle again.
Just call me Dan 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2003 I could see him envying how Shawn was able to really impress upon his comeback. Sure, he's limited, but I've been thoroughly impressed with him, and enjoy him very much IN the ring. I think that is great motivation for Bret to try and see what he could do. What would be sad is if he got real close to the Mania deadline and failed to make it to the show, so they put the match on at Backlash and it drew nothing. Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 19, 2003 Bret would demand the show happen in Canada just to assure he gets a big reaction... Bret would naturally become skeptical if he was still a big name to draw in somewhere like Memphis or San Jose...but would feel comfy in Canadian setting

Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted September 19, 2003 Bret would demand the show happen in Canada just to assure he gets a big reaction... Okay, there's no way that this match is happening because Bret can't take bumps anymore...period. But as far as his reaction goes... Do you realize how fucking CRAZY over he would be in MSG for WrestleMania XX?? It would probably be one of - if not THE - sickest pop that any of us have ever heard. New York has always loved Bret...remember when they cheered him on RAW right smack in the middle of his anti-U.S.A. heel run (Sept. '97)? Remember the RAW X awards? Remember when he returned to face Austin at the '96 Survivor Series? They blew the roof off of The Garden, and he had only been gone six MONTHS that time...it's now been six YEARS. Plus, Bret showing up in the WWE again would be the most surreal moment ever, and people mark out for that shit. You would be able to hear the pop in Queens, and that's all I'm saying about that. The opening electric guitar squeal of his theme would hit, and that would be about the last sound you would be able to make out before the bell rang.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 19, 2003 I still contest Angle/owen would be better I dunno. The smell of a decaying corpse might have an adverse impact on crowd heat and a dead crowd can kill a match. Then again, Hogan still gets pops, so maybe not. Tough call. -=Mike ...They always said Flair could carry a broomstick to 3 stars. Could Angle carry the dead to 3 stars? I think so. ...And, yes, I'm fully aware that this isn't the most sensitive thing I've ever written
