Guest thrall585 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 It is not which is the better show, it is which was the better show for this week. And there is no proof that WWE gimmicks their polls, but likely they do, however for the polls in which the numbers are absurd, it is because you can vote as many times as you want. BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Raw is better to me. I watch it every week and don't watch Smackdown usually. Smackdown puts on better matches, but something attracts me to Raw. Maybe because it is live.
Guest Super Leather Report post Posted September 27, 2003 I actually managed to catch Smackdown last night, and it's been a while. The last time I'd been able to see the show was when Zach Gowan called Vince McMahon a "son of a bitch." Sorry, that's what came to mind and the rest of the show sucked. I was actually pretty into it overall. Some observations... -Rey vs. Tajiri was my favorite match of the night, all things considered. They're going at it half speed (I guess that's the "WWE style" that everyone talks about), but I go nuts for the green (and red) mist every time. Tajiri aiming for the ribs throughout most of the match was a nice touch for that selling/psychology thing. -The segments between McMahon and Sable are REPULSIVE. -A-Train cutting a promo was cool. I don't give a fuck what anyone else says, and I've read them all. He's got a good voice and can project it. If they rearranged his wardrobe, he could be a One Mang Gang-ish heel and be fairly convincing. Give him a manager and it'll be sweet. -Bashams vs. Noble and Bradshaw was good simply for watching Noble get his ass kicked by Shaniqua. Nidia is hideous. So is Bradshaw, who should just ditch the APA thing and go for an IRS kinda gimmick for shits and giggles. -Haas vs. Guerrero was also pretty cool. Eddy's also wrestling at half speed and that kinda ticks me off and the frog splash looked a bit more tame in comparison. But it's Eddy so it's okay, right? Charlie Haas is someone I'd continue paying attention to. Kurt Angle push for this guy, but lay off making him look like a jackass in situations like they've done with Angle many a time. -The ending segment was a little weird for me, but it made the real world title look more valid. Brock's voice itself was decent enough and he didn't sound like a total jackass, but the script they gave him was kinda silly to me. Undertaker's speech was pretty silly as well, but it put over the title and that in itself is good. It was typical Underredneck promo fare, but I gotta admit, I like seeing the guy. "You better sleep with that belt..." I laughed. I used to think Stephanie was passably attractive, but not at this point. This show was a lot better than the last one I've caught. It'll probably be a while before I can see another one, so let's hope they stick with the quality approach that was there for most of the show. It's been a long time since I've last seen Raw, but I wasn't too impressed with anything at that time besides the RVD/Eddy ladder match spotfest. But as far as wrestling itself on that show was concerned, there wasn't anything worthwhile for me. There used to be a college bar where I could tune in for it, but my friends don't work there anymore. Anyway...
Murmuring Beast 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Smackdown is certainly the better wrestling show, but there is something missing at the moment. The feuds are all quite samey, to be honest. Raw is mostly embarrasing and I wouldn't watch it with anyone because I'd be ashamed to call myself a wrestling fan after it.
clean rob 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Smackdown is by no means perfect, and not as good as it was this time last year, but it is leaps and bounds ahead of Raw, which is just plain bad.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Actually I believe someone has watched a poll before and said the numbers have jumped a good 20-30% in a second before while the number of votes has stayed the same.
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted September 27, 2003 I've actually been enjoying Raw a lot more lately. It could be the Goldberg mark in me or just that I can't miss what Teddy Long has to say.

haVoc 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 I think Smackdown is over all better, but there are little things on Raw that I like better then some things on Smackdown. Jericho, Christian promo's, womens wrestling, etc. I'll take those over Vince, Steph, Albert, Dawn, Torrie, Nidia anyday. Smackdown would be even better if I didn't read the spoilers but I can only blame myself for that.

Guest Adrian 3:16 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Both shows have their problems. I'd say Smackdown is better because it has better matches and more fresh characters, and no JR and Lawler (which earns major points with me). But there seems to be something very static and predictable about it. Like the never ending feuds between Angle and Brock, or Benoit and Rhyno. Granted, its better than a never ending feud between the Dudleyz and La Res, but changing things up once in a while never hurts. Now Raw is just a mess. A few months ago, when evil Rock was back, Austin hadn't been totally castrated yet, and Jericho seemed to actually win matches here and there, I'd say it was better. But now I have to watch feuding announcers and Shane throwing his pudgy ass off high objects and besting unstoppable (in theory) monsters. Fuck Raw.
humongous2002 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Neither show is better, but a lot of smarks love SD for the wrestling, while on RAW is more about cutting goofy promos which the average tv viewer loves.

Papacita 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2003 (edited) To me, Smackdown has been the better show...both wrestling and entertainment wise. They've got better matches, obviously, outside of the McMahon stuff, the storylines are better...Smackdown's stuff tends to be simpler than Raw's, but it's more realistic, and as a result, easier to follow and get into. I love the little things with Smackdown, like the Tale of the Tape and Tazz's Keys to victory (although Angle and Brock didn't really play off the latter). I really don't know what to say about Raw. It's not as bad as it was last year around this time, but it still need a lot of work. First, they try to make it the entertainment brand when they've completely lost touch with what wrestling fans consider entertaining, there's too much focus on non-wrestlers...which wouldn't be a bad thing if they were used to elevate more undercard guys (for example, they could've replaced the Coach/Snow Vs JR King match with Stevie Richards Vs Tommy Dreamer, put Coach in Stevie's corner and JR in Tommy's corner with the same stipulations and got a much better effect), they rely WAY too much on comedy (I watch for violence, not for comedy), too many skits, too much talking, NO strong, dynamic face characters other than maybe Austin, and he doesn't wrestle, and the show suffers from a complete lack of realism. The only thing about Raw I really enjoy is the Women's division, and lately, even that's been a little too cartoony for my tastes. So overall, I think Smackdown's better. chaosrage 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2003 It goes back and forth. RAW was a lot better I think up until about when Shane really did get the best of Kane and dropkicked him in the fire. The Kane storyline was intriguing at first (and much better than Zach/Vince), but it all fell apart from there. Then you have Shane taking RVD's place, which means RVD with no focus and nothing to do once again. Announcers wrestling every week. Goldberg as champion. (who the hell can take him down besides HHH?) Steiner/Test feud and La Resistance/Dudleys. It's all just boring now, bleh. Smackdown on the other hand is starting to put more emphasis back on wrestling. Matches are longer than they were a month ago. Chavo's back, yay. We just had a fucking ironman. Eddie's got two belts. Last week, we had two Eddie matches and Rey/Tajiri. That's enough to make me look past the McMahon crap.
